《Seekers Quest (A Post Apocalypse LITRPG)》Chapter 42 Crockfish

"Damn this sucks, the whole day sculpting the road and my Construction> only went up half a level while went up two levels."
Dan gave him an inquiring look.
Sher explained, "When your skill or spell reaches level ten you reach Tier one in that skill or spell. Then your experience gained in that spell takes a fifty percent knock, the same in every Tier."
He sat in shock, "but that means that at higher Tiers your spell would take forever to level."
"Jip, and if you use the spell in a way that it wasn't meant to be used then your spell might evolve, like Louie's that evolved into Construction> because he likes to build and construct buildings and stuff."
They all laughed at the expression on Louies' face as Dan looked around.
"Why does he look annoyed?"
Sher answered him, "Louie like to build things, like buildings and this road, just after the pulse he got a spell called and he mostly used it to build buildings and now and then during a fight, so the system evolved his spell and now he can't use it during a fight. He is upset because he thinks that the system thinks of him as a crafter instead of a fighter." Sher smiled as she explained the matter to Dan.
"Aah, I see."
They all laughed again as they heard Louie mutter something as he turned around and pulled the blanket over his head.
The next morning it was still dark when Louie's alarm woke him up. He triggered the statue and equipped his boots and armor before he stepped through the door of the pillbox into the cold to be greeted by Leon and a cup of warm coffee.
"Damn, luckily this canyon runs from east to west or this canyon would have had some short days." He cracked a big yawn as he accepted the cup of coffee from Leon. "You look cheerful this morning."
"I'm always cheerful, I love mornings." He took a deep breath and stretched. "Listen. . . you can hear the birds singing, not coughing and choking on the exhaust fumes of cars."
"True, I love nature but not early mornings." He lifts his mug to his lips, "Thanks for the coffee." He looked at the mana coffee machine. "I wonder how long the coffee will last, and if we can refill it if it goes empty?"
"Ha, you can just go and exchange it in the dungeon, I saw some of your stuff and I heard from Sher how you looted the dungeon."
"True, but if you are in a dungeon, then you take everything that you can carry away. It's a dungeon and dungeons are there for the looting." He cracked a grin at Leon, who just smiled and shook his head.
"What's on the agenda for today?"
"Hmm, going to see about finishing this road then the bridge, and hopefully a pier on each side of the river."
"A pier, why? Are you thinking of building a town here?"
"Not yet, but that river looks deep and it widens out. I bet there are some big fish in there, not to mention that crayfish we had at that ruin of the trout farm. This might be an ideal place to set up for fishing."
The others woke up and slowly started to drift towards the fire and the coffee machine.
"Hmm, I missed coffee," Dan held his mug under his nose inhaling the aroma.

After a breakfast of scrambled eggs and thick-cut bacon, they packed up the camp and Louie dismantled the pillbox by sinking it into the ground before they moved back to the cavern.
They had hoped to see if they could uncover more of the mystery behind why the System calls the cave a structure and note a cavern or even a mine since there were multiple metal veins visible in the cavern walls, but they were out of luck.
No matter what they did, nothing happened, not even a BB with options like he got at the mine, nothing.
They were ready to give up when Trish pointed at something and Naomi brought it to Leon's attention.
"Uncle Leon, Trish says that there is something on the wall over there."
She pointed out the big opening of the cavern.
Leon looked at the shy girl, "you saw something out there, Trish?"
She nodded before she scurried away to where the rest of the party was standing.
"What's up Leon?"
He turned to Louie.
"Trish said she saw something out there, but I don't know how that is possible, I can barely make out the canyon walls.
Louie took out the Bushnell Powerview binoculars that he got with the stuff from Patersons' deed and looked across the canyon towards the other side.
"Well, I'll be damned."
He handed the binoculars to Leon and pointed at the canyon wall.
There was another opening right across from them in the cliff on the opposite canyon wall.
"Damn, how did she see that?"
Louie shook his head, "I don't know."
"Do you think that opening and this cavern was once one?" He lowered the binoculars and looked at Louie.
Looking out the opening and down the cliff. Louie nodded. "I think that the canyon formed when this piece of earth cracked open, but not recently and this piece of 'earth' is definitely not from here. I think the lizards just found this place after Gaea was done with her shuffle and made it their home."
He held out his hand and Leon gave him the glasses again. "I think the answers we are looking for are over there."
They agreed.
Louie made a wall closing off the entrance facing the canyon to keep out unwanted creatures and also closed off the hole through which they came and moved a bit back up the road.
He sculpted a hairpin bend into the cliff before the place where they broke through the wall and started the switchback going back to the cliff face and down again.
He noticed all the metal veins in the walls around him every time he used
It took a couple of hours but they reached the bottom of the canyon just after noon and Louie decided to start making the piers, running along the river and parallel with the cliff, first so they have a flat space to rest and eat lunch.
During lunch, they talked about maybe building a town on the two riverbanks because it would be a nice place to rest after coming down the switchback road in the cliff and before tackling the upslope on the other side of the river again. The people that do settle here would make a decent living from the crayfish, which were huge, and not to mention the fish, in the river. They should also be able to trade with Mountain Holm.

They decide that Louie should build some structures on the piers and a couple of open shelters and then they should wait a year to see how the new system affects the seasonal weather and how that will affect the level of the river.
The last thing they needed was a torrent of water running halfway up the canyon walls.
Two hours later Louie was done sculpting the shelters and started on the bridge.
He reached down into the bed of the river and fused the rocks with the bottom making sure that it was one solid piece. He then started using the blocks of stone that he had in his inventory and sculpted the pillars fusing them to the thin roadbed.
He had some trouble sculpting the first span because it was easy to mold or sculpt something while the stone was flowing on the ground, but the moment that he had to make the stone flow over empty space it started eating into his mana since he literally had to keep the stone in the air with his mana manipulation.
'Damn, I must see if I can't get a spell or skill to help, something like levitation.'
He stopped and thought for a moment.
'Damn I'm an idiot, I don't have to build a whole bridge, I can raise a section of a wall from the riverbed up to above the water and then just remove the center of the wall for the water to flow through then I can just sculpt the rest to be like bridge pillars and roadway and move on to the next section.'
He shook his head as he went to the first bridge pillar that he had already made, and created steps down to the waterline and reached down into the earth under the water, and started to raise his wall section while at the same time dumping blocks of stone out of his inventory to add to the wall.
He was a fifth of the way across the river when suddenly the bed of the river dropped away, he reached out with
He looked up at the canyon walls and sighed.
'If I take the angle of the cliffs into account then the depth of the river should be at least a hundred meters if not deeper and it looks to be at least sixty or seventy meters wide.'
He extended a tendril of stone out over the water but it soon became obvious that this won't be that easy as the weight of the stone became more than its strength and snapped before it reaches the boundary of his spell.
"Damn this is going to be a hassle."
Louie walked back to the pier where everybody was waiting for him to finish the bridge.
"Problems?" Sher asked.
He took a pack of chocolate balls out of his inventory and passed it around while he explained the problem.
"I'm no engineer, but I know that I can't just bridge this gap straight, so I will have to build upwards and back, connecting with the cliff this side till I got enough support under me to allow me to create a single span of stone far enough out that I can start to angle down towards the other side without the stone getting too heavy and break while I'm in the middle. As long as I can just get a simple arch over this gap in the riverbed then I can reinforce it and work from there."
Leon stood looking out over the river, "would it help if we can create something to get you to the other side and you could sculpt a pillar over there? The flow is smooth and slow here."
Stepping up to him Louie scratched the back of his head. "I don't know, I know bugger all about building stuff like this. Once we reach Paarl I should try and find a library and see if I can loot any books on engineering if I'm going to build . . . shit this is why the system evolved my spell. I'm already thinking of building bigger stuff."
"Aam. . . I could freeze the water." They turned to Christian. "Not the whole river, just a stretch of the surface, more like a layer of ice."
"When did you get an ice spell?" Louie wanted to know and Christian smiled.
"I unlocked it last night, I played around a bit with the ice wand and tried to replicate the effect with my and after many experiments and tiredly working through the night I finally unlocked the spell." He looked proud but deflated as Garth spoke up.
"He shot himself 'accidentally' in the leg with the ice wand, nearly losing the leg."
He groaned as they looked at their shocked expression.
"It wasn't an accident," "What!" they exclaimed in shock. "I had to find out how it felt to be hit by the ice, I did try and make it as small as possible."
"You shot yourself in the leg with an ice wand?"
"Well, yes, I had to know."
"Those ice spikes from the wands are big. Why didn't you just smash one of the spikes and use a shard to pierce your hand or something instead of shooting yourself in the leg?"
Christian looked at Leon in shock.
Everybody laughed as Louie slapped him on the back.
"Didn't think of that, did you?" He shook his head as he turned to the people gathered on the pier.
"No more experimenting with skill or spells by yourself, if you want to try something out, then gather around and discuss with each other and see if there isn't a better solution than what you are planning to do and have people around you that can help if things go wrong."
He turned back to Christian.
"Let's see what this spell can do."
Christian stretched his hand out and a stream of liquid shot towards the water.
It looked the same as his waterjet spell except the stream looked ice-cold and was actually creating fog as it traveled through the air. The big difference was where it touched the river and the surface of the water turned into a sheet of ice.
The stream cut off after three minutes and he sat down on the ground clutching his head.
They looked at the ice. Christian had created a sheet of ice three by five meters big but only about ten centimeters thick.
The girls were squealing and everybody laughed as they shouted.
"Elsa! Elsa!"
Christian moaned and slowly shook his head before clutching it and moaning again.
"Who is Elsa?" Louie asked Leon, who laughed and told him about the animated movie.
Smiling Louie slapped Christian on the shoulder.
"Thanks, but I think you should work more with the spell and level it up before you would be able to make skate paths or ice bridges. . . princess." They laughed as Louie jumped away from a lackluster backhand from the sitting Christian.
"Have you tried that Shadow step spell of yours?" Sher asked.
"Yes, it only works across terrain that I can naturally cross, if I could jump across then I would be able to
Shadow nodded before going back to studying the surroundings.
"Damn."
"Don't worry, I'm going to gather some of the excess stone that I dumped from the road and see about making a thick base and doing an overhang till I can reach the other side."
Louie walked to the end of the pier and jumped onto the thin strip of boulders between the cliff and the edge of the water. Moving down the bank he started to store as much of the castoff rock as he could till he got the feeling that told him his inventory was nearly full.
He moved back to his bridge-building site and started by reinforcing the already built bridge structure till it can carry ten times its current weight.
The monstrosity that he sculpted was nearly a hundred meters high and fifty meters wide at the bottom and narrowed as it reached the top with a single thin strand of stone hanging over and reaching down to the other side of the gap in the riverbed.
"Jees, that reminds me of those old western movies where you got those huge wooden railroad bridges spanning the canyons that looked like scaffolding."
"Yea it's the same concept," Louie told Leon. "As I said, I know sweet bugger all about engineering, there is probably a very simple way to get the stone over there but I don't know that, so I brute forced it."
"Well it worked, so I'm not complaining."
"Yip, give me two hours then I should be finished with the bridge and we can move across, I just got to trim off all the unwanted stone and reinforce the arch. We can set up camp over there and then start on the road up tomorrow morning.
The sun was long below the edge of the canyon walls and the bottom next to the river was starting to get dark but Louie wanted to finish the bridge and shape the pier on this side of the river before calling it a day, the first indication they had that there was trouble was with the onset of the headaches.
Everybody groaned and clutched their heads.
Louie looked up and saw Sher reached out to heal Jenny, who was the closest when she screamed and collapsed from the spell feedback.
Louie jumped up and ran back across the nearly finished bridge when the attack happened.
The creature that surged out of the water and onto the pier, blocking the path of escape up to the road, was one of the strangest Louie had ever seen.
Imagine the offspring of a catfish and a crocodile with the tentacles of a squid where a catfish had whiskers, but the size of an elephant. It had the body and whiskers of a catfish and the front legs, head, and armor plating of a crocodile, ow yes nearly forgot the whiskers was longer than its body and could be used as tentacles.
Crockfish Level ??
HP: ???/???
MP: ???/???
This strange otherworldly Crockfish is but an infant and likes to lurk in deep murky waters during the day, slowly exploring the rivers and lakes at night. Once it reaches sufficient size it will move towards the sea where it will grow to maturity. While in its infancy it uses its tentacles to sift through the muddy bottoms of the rivers looking for prey. Because they are primarily opportunistic scavengers they will eat anything and grow quickly in size, they are solitary creatures and claim large territories which they will defend to the death. The crockfish rarely gather in groups except for mating.
They are extremely hard to kill due to their elemental resistance and tough skin and armor-like scales.
Abilities: Feeblemind/???
Weakness: ???/???
Immunity: Elemental attacks
Louie shouted and waved at the monster to try and get it to target him so that they could get its attention away from the group where the children were.
"It's immune to magic! Use ranged weapons and watch out for the tentacle!"
Louie found out the hard way that the monster had an area of effect ability that disoriented its prey.
As he got in range he reached for and the spell just fizzled. 'Fuck!' He had forgotten that the spell had evolved and wasn't available during battle anymore, but he was now in range of its tentacles, and stumbled, suddenly feeling dizzy. He got sideswiped by one of the long tentacles, throwing him through the air to connect with a wall of one of the shelters.
'Uggh, fuck me.'
He pulled himself to his feet and groggily downed a health potion, before making his way back to the fight.
"Watch out for the tentacles!" Leon mock shouted at him.
"Asshole!" But the grin showed that he heard.
He took a chest out of his inventory and while the other kept the crockfish busy, he armed the trap and slid it over the smooth surface like an expert in curling. 'Only needed two sweepers.'
The monster saw the incoming object and tried to bash it away with a tentacle only to have it shredded as the trap lashed out with its shiny sharp blades.
The monster made a screaming sound between a hiss and a growl trying to back away from the Spiketrap. Louie armed another trap and curled it to the monster. It was not stupid to fall for the same trick twice and shuffled away from the innocent-looking rock.
"Use your air spells to shuffle the traps into it.
All the adults except Mainey gathered in a rough circle between the monster and the river's edge, but just outside the reach of its tentacles, and tried to stay outside its AOE ability.
Mainey and the teens had grabbed the children and retreated up the road as soon as the others were able to lure the creature away from the entrance.
It might be immune to elemental attacks but it wasn't immune to the environment, Christian created sharp ridges on the surface and covered the pier with a thin layer of ice.
The ridges interfered with the shuffling of the traps but it severely hampered the monster as well.
It screamed its rage as it started to slip and slide over the slippery ice, cutting the fish half of its body on the razor-sharp edges.
"Nice going Christian, just keep it from going into the river, don't let it escape. It will only come back later." Louie panted as he evaded another swipe from a tentacle.
Sher threw a plant at the crockfish and started to chant. The plant which turned out to be some kind of vine wrapped around the monster on impact and tried to immobilize it by wrapping around its body, but the creature secreted a mucus through its skin that the plant struggled to get a grip on and it seemed to heal the damage done by their slingshots and the spiketraps.
Leon got in a lucky shot as he slipped on a patch of ice and when the monster tried to capitalize on it by trying to grab him he severed the tentacle halfway between the body and tip before getting out of reach again.
Sher took on her spider Wildform and scurried up the cliff where she threw sticky webbing at the monster to try and blind it. Suddenly the crockfish were covered in more webbing as the spiders, who had felt their master's anxiety, abandoned their bridge-building and rushed down the cliff face, some dropping straight down and hanging from their silk strands, to come and help them. The teens and kids started firing from the road with their slingshots and wands trying to distract the monster.
Derek used his fire affinity and spell to heat his metal spear to nearly white-hot before he launched it into the side of the fish monster, which released another hiss-like scream.
They had to rely on their ranged weapons as the spiders stayed out of the reach of the tentacles and tried to trap and bind the Rockfish.
They heard bones break as BOB made a spectacular but stupid entrance by divebombing from the road in the cliff and nearly destroying himself by impacting the fish on its back smashing it into the ground.
The creature reared up its front and screamed in pain Louie and some of the guards dodged the waving tentacles, rushed in, and jammed their spears into the soft skin where the legs connected to the body. Louie slid in under its head and activating Drake, driving it through the soft skin under its jaw and into its brain, they rolled and moved out of the reach of the tentacles as the Rockfish thrashed around in its death throes.
Louie rushed to where BOB was trying to crawl away from the still twitching monster.
"You bloody stupid, brave . . ." he slit to a halt next to BOB and grabbed his head. "Why did you do such a stupid thing? We had the monster right where we wanted it."
'Safe? Hurt!'
"We are safe, you big moron." He took a piece of metal the size and shape of a kite shield out of his inventory and gave it to BOB. He had bought it for a special treat, but he could think of no better time than now.
Dark Wyvern Scale, (Rare)
This metal-infused scale was harvested from the body of a Dark Wyvern. Wyverns are lesser relatives of dragons but still, their scales are magically infused with whatever element they surround themselves with. This Scale has a 99% Dark Mithril content and is highly sought after by Master blacksmiths for the crafting of rare Darkness affinity armor that has a high resistance against magic and physical attacks.
"Eat up boy, get better." He watched as BOB gave the Wyvern scale a lick before taking a bite.
Sitting next to his giant petfriend, Louie tried to think of a way to heal the damage done to BOB other than feeding him metal.
'Shit, there should be a way to repair the damage.'
He tried but the spell didn't even activate, he laid his head on BOBs side and started to meditate.
He concentrated on that place in his chest where he knew his mana pool was, he saw his mana pool and the channels with mana flowing from it through his body like arteries filled with blood. He moved deeper, down to the center of his being, and the ball of string that represents his nexus and the strands that lead from it to his bonded. He noticed that the two fine chains that led to the sisters had changed into something resembling woven strands of silk, but the one he was most interested in was the big black strand that led to a ball of smoky black fog. As he reached out to it, he got the feeling of loyalty, love, and contained savagery. He stroked the ball with his imaginary hand and vaguely he felt BOB.
As he studied the ball he noticed that it looked cracked and lopsided with wisps of fog leaking from it and dissipating into the surrounds
'Fuck this.'
He reached for his infusion spell the same he had done the first time he had used the spell to heal Trish.
Every time he had the tendril in hand and tried to move it towards the ball which was BOBs essence it would slip out of his control and start thrashing all around like a firehose out of control.
After the third try, he released the spell and started over again but this time he carefully threaded the tendril through and around the big strand that stretched from his center to the ball of smoke, as soon as it connected with the ball he heard a loud gong-like sound and was ejected out of his inner self.
There were BBs waiting for him.
Attention
Your skill Social Awareness (active)has undergone a forced evolution and evolved into Social Sharing (passive)
Social Sharing
We're connected. There is no you, and no me. We are all sides of the same polyhedron, caring is sharing. You will now share your statistics with that of your bonded and vice versa. Every Tier in this skill will grant your bonded a 1% chance to learn one of your skills.
Beware, if your bonded die then you will die, but the fact that you now share a combined health and Mana pool will make you very hard to kill.
"Fuck, that's not what I was going for."
"You ok Louie?" Whitney asked as she took a hold of his arm to steady him.
"Yes, thanks, Whitney."
He looked at BOB and saw him slowly transforming into a more lifelike shape, his skin that was not covered with spikes was now covered in small dark grey scales and his eyes had a more intelligent look to them.
He felt someone looking at him and turned around and saw the sisters staring at him with big eyes.
'Shit! No way!'
He dove back into his inner self to where the ball of string that connected him to BOB was and saw the strings going to the sisters.
'Fuck, they are also connected the same as BOB.'
He opened his eyes and looked at the sisters.
*Sigh* 'Shit.' He walked over to them.
"Deidre, Francine, I'm sorry . . ."
"What did you do? I can feel you, all three of you." She snapped her mouth closed as she saw the others who heard the anxiety in her voice came over to join them.
"What's going on?" They asked.
'Deidre, Francine, We can talk later. I will explain, Louie' he sent to them.
"Ahh, I found a way to heal BOB, and as you all can see it changed him a bit."
They all transferred their attention to BOB and exclaimed about his new look.
He looked back at the sisters and sent to them again. 'Deidre, Francine, tonight I promise, Louie' before he walked back to the monster carcass to deactivate the spiketraps before somebody triggered them.
'Why is this still here?'
"Hey guys, did any of you loot this thing?" He shouted over his shoulder.
"Yes, I did." Michael said looking at the monster, "why didn't it start to liquify or rot?"
Louie reached out and touched the body.
Attention
Would you like to loot the body?
Y/N
"Shit, I just got a loot option." He pressed Y
"No way!" Loen shouted as everybody rushed the body and touched it.
"Me too." "Yea, same here." They called the kids over and they also got the option to loot the monster but they only received 50 silver coins each.
Louie looked at his loot BB.
Crockfish Loot Received
2 Gold Coin
2 x Fishbreath potion
Crockfish hide
Gallbladder
6Kg Fish steaks
Lure and tackle.
Fishring
1 x Beast core
Fishring
This ring will negate all pressure on the wearer and allow the wearer to breathe underwater for thirty minutes at a time with a one-hour cooldown.
"Nice, what did you guys get?" He asked as he saw Micheal store the body in an empty bracelet for later harvesting before it could start to decompose.
They all shared their BBs and it turned out that they all got different loot and experience for the kill.
"So what has changed? only the person that struck the killing blow used to get the loot and experience." Louie wanted to know. He saw Leon give him a nod with his head in the direction of the bridge.
"Aah Ok, sorry, let's get over the bridge and up the cliff a bit to set up camp for the night, then we can talk more."
Louie quickly finished the bridge and they all crossed over. After creating a single pier Louie sculpted a narrow path to where he planned to make the first hairpin in the road and created a rest spot.
After the fight with the Crockfish they were all tired and needed a rest.
As soon as Louie got a chance he called Deidre and Francine to one side and he explained to them what happened when he tried to heal BOB, to say that they were not happy was an understatement. He promised to try to find a way to undo or modify the bond to exclude them from it.
Later that night they were all sitting around the fire when Leon spoke up about the changes in looting the monsters.
"I think it started after we killed the Rockcrusher Wyrm."
"You think so?"
He nodded at Sher.
Micheal held up his hand. "We can check it out."
"How?"
"I still got the bodies from the fights on the road, I haven't harvested it yet." He started removing bracelets from his inventory.
He equipped one and removed the body of a Demodin Foxkin and indicated Sher must try and loot it, nothing happened and he replaced the body before replacing the bracelet with another.
From this bracelet, he removed one of the big dogs that attacked Dan's group.
Sher reached out and looked at them with surprise written all over her face. "I got claws and teeth with a pelt."
They all stood up and tried to loot it but it turned out that you could only loot a monster if you helped kill it and the amount of loot and experience depended on how much you contributed with the kill.
"Ok, so things changed after we killed the Regional Boss, is it a reward just for us, or is this something that changed for everyone?"
Loen shrugged, "We can figure that once we reached Paarl. This is something that counts in our favor, we can get more loot and still harvest the bodies. This will help the survivors, so it's a good thing."
They all agreed.
Louie sat back and sighed, "About the fight, this can't go on, we only prevented the loss of members thanks to the stupid but brave antics of our pets." He rubbed the much smaller BOB, who was laying next to him, between the ears.
"We need more. Till now we relied on our numbers, spells, and abilities. That won't do anymore. You all saw what happened. We nearly lost some of our people, of which I was one." He took a deep breath, "We need training in working together as a team, we need a strategy, and what we need most of all is practice. I myself am guilty. We are not used to reacting with magic, and we are not used to this." He waved at everything outside the rest spot.
"We are soft, our world before the pulse made us soft. We must practice till we are ready to react when the shit hits the fan, till we know to expect trouble before it happens. This is uncharted enemy territory, and we are just stumbling around following a road like we are on a Sunday outing."
Leon agreed, "We should have expected monsters in the river. There have been those sightings near Mountain holm and I bet that river connects with this one somewhere downstream and that this crockfish is the bugger that has been roaming the rivers at night. This river turns into a bloody lake upriver. We should have been prepared to face a big monster."
They sat till late in the night discussing ways to improve their fighting and strategy.

Finding Home: The Quest for Knowledge
Angela was quite surprised to wake up one day in the middle of a forest, transformed into a character from her favorite MMO game. Now she's wandering around, lost, trying to get back to her own world and her own comfy bed. But things aren't going quite as she planned. She's aquiring traveling companions instead of the know-how to get home. At this rate, she's going to lose her job and break her rental contract and end up being something totally useless like a Hero!

Iferes: Slaves Of The Gods
Iferes are creatures that roam the world. They are everywhere, and anywhere. From the deepest seas, to the highest mountains. From the heart of volcanos, to the never melting glaciers. Some are weak, some are strong. Some are calm, some are bloodthirsty. What they all have in common, is that they fight for survival. For hundreds of thousands of eras, humans and Iferes lived in a world of war and blood. Ifere against Ifere, Ifere against humans, and humans against humans. But one day, in a very distant past, the twelve Mystic Iferes, and the twelve greatest kings of humanity, joined hands to end that cruel era. Together, they created a contract. A contract that, once made, would bound the two parties, and could only be broken in death. Millions of years went by, and that period of war faded in legends. And a child was born, a child that would change everything. For bad or worse, only time would say. ----------------------------- Hello, everyone! Just a few warnings before you read the novel, so you won't be disappointed. First of all, as you can probably tell, I took more than a few ideas from pokemon and the like. It's almost impossible to write a novel where creatures (Iferes) have a major part in, and not relate it to pokemon. However, as you will see as the novel goes on, I tried (and I think I succeeded) in making a universe of my own. I am sure you will like it. Secondly, compared to pokemon, my novel is a lot darker, as you probably noticed by the synopsis. I also try to give a wild west vibe to it, if you know what I mean. Thirdly, you should check out my fanfic Broke: A Clone Wars Tale. Biased as I am towards it, I think it's a great story, and so do many of my readers. It will also give you a glance at what writing style to expect. Fourth and last, I feel like it's only fair that I tell you I am a student. As much as I love writing, my main priority will always be my studies. After all, writing is just a hobby for me, at least for now (fingers crossed). As such, there probably will be interruptions in the release schedule here and there, but, if you followed me on my other novel, you will know I rarely missed an upload, and, when I did, I always made up for it. So, with all that said, I hope you can give the novel a try, and leave a review. If you are a new reader, I hope we can have a lot of fun along the way. If you read Broke, then we already made a journey together, and I hope you will follow me on a new one. Also, you should check out my patreon, there you can get chapters in advance (although they will all be published normally after a while), and a few other benefits. I appreciate every bit of support you can give me! patreon.com/reis123 PS: there will be romance, but no harem or reincarnation. The MC is just someone who was born and raised on this world.

The Misadventures of Ray in an Alternate Universe
Ray, a strategy game nut, self-proclaimed master of the genre was offered a chance to play in a new VRMMO game known as War of Aetheria. A game based around grand war in an RPG setting, with the laws of war being changed through magic and different races. Along the way Ray will gather companions, get hurt, abused and get cursed by gods. Why does he suffer so much? The author likes it, don't ask me. Authors Note: I like it. Will Ray be able to survive? Maybe. Enjoy your read. (Discontinued until whenever I wanna torture this version of Ray. Currently torturing second Ray in my other weird story.)
