《Kindred》Chapter 93 - Miss, What's Happening with Elder Sister Sand!?

Miss and Miss Eleanor stand against each other in the arena.
According to Mommy, Miss Eleanor is Miss's biggest enemy in this competition.
As fire can't exist without air, similarly to us humans, Miss would have to take Miss Eleanor without her fire element. Not to mention that she would be able to breathe only when Miss Eleanor allows it... That's what Mommy said.
She also said that Miss Eleanor's biggest weakness is close combat and fast moving projectiles.
Well, it makes sense. From the conversations held between Mommy, Sophia, and Miss Tinesia, Miss Eleanor is apparently an exact opposite of Miss Tinesia.
While Miss Tinesia focuses everything in her sword, Miss Eleanor focuses on the use of her element.
However, Miss won't last long in close combat because she won't be able to breathe and to my knowledge, Miss doesn't have any fast moving projectile attacks.
"Main Branch Meira, Main Branch Eleanor. Are you ready?" The referee asks.
"Ready." Miss Eleanor says.
"En." Miss nods.
The referee uncle looks a bit startled after the two gave him normal replies.
"... Sigh. Fight!"
Sssssss!
Right after the match started, Miss shot fire at Miss Eleanor, but it vanished immediately after getting close to her.
Clap!
Next, Miss Eleanor claps her hands and the expression on Miss's face changes.
Miss Eleanor must have done something to the air around Miss.
Miss jumps to the left once, then once again and takes a deep breath.
Was she able to get out of the dangerous area?
In the next moment, the black flames appear on Miss's shoulders, and she shots towards Miss Eleanor.
However, when she gets close to Miss Eleanor, the flames on Miss's shoulders decrease until they completely disappear.
Miss's eyebrows knit, but she doesn't retreat. Instead, she kicks toward's Miss Eleanor's abdomen with her right leg.

But, when Miss Eleanor blocked with her left arm, Miss retreated to a safe distance to catch a breath.
"Awuu..."
"She's doing well, but unfortunately..."
Before Mommy could finish speaking, a big cluster of black fire appears in front of Miss.
I see! If the flame is big enough, she could inflict damage to Miss Eleanor before Miss Eleanor could completely extenguish the fire!
... Is what I thought, but... the black fire in Miss's hands stopped growing and eventually it became smaller and smaller.
It appears that Miss Eleanor can render Miss's black flames completely useless.
This really shows why Mommy was so confident about Miss Eleanor's win.
Miss Eleanor's mastery over her element really is-
Huh? Elder Sister Sand?
What are you trying to say?
I look at the sand climbing up my hand.
Before I could figure out what is going on with Elder Sister Sand, the sand climbed up to my neck, completely enveloping my left arm, shoulder and the side of my neck in sand.
"Latifa... This is...?"
"A, awu?" W, what?
"Looks like you are itching for a fight?"
"Awuuu!?" Not really!?
Very soon, I could feel the sand all over my body, until only my head was sticking out.
Fight! Exciting! Kill! Defeat! Fun! Murder!
I could hear Elder Sister Sand's excited voice inside my head.

Basically, if you're interested in vampires or magic heavy stories, this will have something for you... probably. The synopsis is kinda vague but If you give it a shot, I think you'll like it. Also, feel free to drop any sort of constructive criticism since this is one of my first experiences writing in first person.Forgot to add that the story will be a little less action-orientated until around chapter 20+ when... well... read and see :) Any chapters with the * next to them have been edited or tweaked. I'll remove it once all of them are.

YAOS 1 - Limitless Adventures - Yet Another OP Story Book 1
December 23rd 2018: Book 1 is now up at Smashwords and at Amazon. December 30th 2018: V1.1.2 of YAOS Book 1 is out, some content additions, fixed typos. Amazon's enhanced typesetting now displays tables properly. YAOS is shown through the eyes of some genius athlete getting OP inside a VR, ah wait, Full Immersion game, ?F.I.O?. Not a Hero, not a Nerd, just a driven individual paying for mistakes made, biding time until he can return to the Real World. He isn't defined like you'd normally do it, you can pick his looks and name all on your own, just like you do in video games. Believe it or not, keeping his looks undefined is harder than you think. His backstory isn't expounded in detail, but it drives his choices. Book 1 isn't about depressing sob stories but about fun and rushing forward, pursuing new horizons. Oh, and you'll end on a cliffhanger! Well, most serials do, so you will probably expect that without being told explicitly. But it isn't that bad, there's a lot of reveals and more to come once this book, that is the first in a planned three-part series, is finally ready for release on amazon et al. The published version will have: 1.) Godawful speaker tags, I hate them, they make you stop thinking and speed up editing so much. In hindsight they should have been in to begin with. But I stand by my goals proclaimed earlier. You guys should think while reading, that is the whole point of the exercise. Apply the knowledge and ideas, improve yourself, get creative! 2.) Pretty colored tables, the damned blue boxes, a lot of work, 69 in one book. Finally fixed amazon's centering issue. Can't say I liked the hours needed to debug that. 3.) The promised Mitara chapters. 4.) A cover! 5.) And lastly, updated polished versions of several chapters. MC shares more of his past, some terrible chapters (esp. 32) finally work. Some new scenes, minor rewrites in parts. Text flow and other issues. The current challenge is to maintain essential ambiguity while satisfying people wanting to know more without thinking three steps ahead. Balancing one with the other is tough. The smut which was in remains, but the story told is not to be superseded by it. A 15+ rating for the first book is also important, not to mention, YAOS wasn't meant to contain any smut to begin with. If the Author can turn to writing full time his output should increase, so please support YAOS #1 once it does finally release. ~Thank You~ No maps so far, that should be in, but is really hard to get done right. Again, tips are appreciated. Update September 2017: Stubbed chapters, sorry guys, currently don't have time to upload them elsewhere, polishing book 1 and 2, writing 3, takes precedence. Book 1 is in heavy editing, too much to keep synced and continuing editing. I'd need a site which offers JS-free rapid managing of chapters and comments. Coding one myself or setting a premade up is out of scope until I'm done with the books. RRL-old offered that, nuff said. This is only here because the author believes in fairies, nobody reads this, most likely. October to December 2017: Life threw some curveballs. February 2018: Book 2 draft 1 completed, at ~150K words. Book 2 is fairly epic in scope, requires 1 rewritten chapter, some editing. Tables and miscellanea are in, but needs at least a grammar pass. March 2018: Book 3 at 28k words, first arc, rest needs serious planning for spin-off and satisfying conclusion. July 2018: Yet another proofing/editing session of books 1-3, 101+ chapters, ~300k words. B3 at 48k, starts out great, but no ETA, no wordcount limit, in flux. But prioritizing my writing cannot be done, I hate the delays as much as you, but you will prefer the whole released in a timely fashion rather than wait. Knowing myself how excruciating waiting can be, at least you'll get significantly polished versions and an ETA on book 2 by release of book 1. The ancient's believed that a man's fate or destiny is written already, and that only God or maybe the Gods could change it. If they did change it, it was believed it was for a purpose unknown to that man or for maybe for the ammusement of those higher beings. However, whether that is true or not, one thing is for certain. Changing a man's fate will create a ripple of changes. Join our hero, who whether by luck, by some divine intervention, or by his own choice, separated from the fate that he shared with his fellow earthlings. Watch him struggle in his new world. Watch him grow. Watch him learn. Watch him walk a path oustside what destiny has for him. FYI: The magic concept in this story is high fantasy with involvement of polytheistic religions and demons. There will be a mix of GameLit style writing mixed with traditional magic novel style writing. The plot developement will be slow in the first volume, as I will focus on world building and character building. The main character will not be OP immediately and will develop into one in his own way over time. This series is built less like modern Japanese, Korean, and Chinese webnovels and more like the old school fanstasy novels like DND and Forgotten Realms.
