Chapter 17: Exploding with Energy

Mei called the two for dinner so we sat on the dining table and ate Mei’s cooking.

Aeran was very enthusiastic in eating dishes she had never heard or tried so the atmosphere was lively and good.

From time to time, Mei would grab a towel and wipe off Aeran’s cheek and scolds her for eating messily.

El too, would take a spoon and make Aeran eat it.

From an outsider’s point of view, I suppose we look like a normal family in any normal household...only, none us are actually related by blood to one another.

I don’t think that Aeran is my blood daughter too of course.

As we ate, I briefly forgot all of my worries and just enjoyed the mood and relax.

Afterwards, El took Aeran back to the room as the little loli was already sleepy from eating too much.

I smiled as I watched the two go up and reverted my gaze to Mei who was washing the dishes.

“Need help?”

“No need, master. I can handle this much.”

“Alright. I’ll be going out for a bit then.”

Going out of the [World Home], I looked left and right to make sure the two troublemaking girls aren’t here.

After making sure Moon and Evie are already gone, I left [Harus] and went back to [Earth], casting an illusion spirit formation on me again to make me look normal for earthlings.

Hmm, it’s been two months since I left home and completely forgotten about the things I was supposed to buy for my family.

Ran wanted a [Portal], my mom wanted a new washing machine, and as for Rose...forget it, let’s just go and buy a pickup truck. Mom can drive anyway and I bet she only wanted a pickup truck just to try and ride on the backside…

I left my apartment and jogged to the mall to buy a [Portal]. It’s already around 8:30 pm so there’s still a bit of time before the mall closes.

I also bought mom’s washing machine and asked them to deliver it to the house instead as it was big and heavy...well, I can use the [Inventory] but if they see a washing machine suddenly, disappear, there would be all sorts of chaos.

As for the pickup truck…where the hell am I supposed to get one?

...Let’s just buy it online and have it delivered to the house.

I’ll go back home tomorrow and give the [Portal] to Ran. For now, I went back inside the [World Home] and went to the kitchen.

While I was out buying presents earlier, I also bought the energy drink the [Rimmer Corp.] produces in the nearby convenience store.

I looked at the concoction that was colored dark red and couldn’t help but wonder what would happen if I were to drink it.

“Lucas, what are you doing? You making fruit shake? Ooh, is that apple shake. Lemme have some too!”

Suddenly, El came down and saw me using the blender. Seeing the color of the mixture, she looked happy and directly took the blender and poured some on her cup.

“E-El...”

“Hmm?”

El raised an eyebrow at me but her hand didn’t stop from lifting the cup and drinking from it.

Then…

“Puwaaah-!!! WHAT THE HELL IS THIS!? WHY AM I BURSTING WITH ENERGY!? WAAAA!!! I FEEL ALIVE!!! AAAAHHH!!!”

Immediately after drinking, El shouted and ran around like crazy!

Probably because of all the noise, Aeran also came down wearing her small pajamas that she got from somewhere and was still a bit sleepy as could be seen from how she’s rubbing her eyes slowly.

When she saw El running around, it was as if the sleepiness didn’t exist and she suddenly ran along with El while shouting and laughing.

“Waaaaaaiiii!!! Ahahahahaha!!!”

Mei also came and was confused as to what was happening.

I stood there blinking for a second then looked at the cup El drank from.

I can still see the area where El’s lips touched as it was still wet and an unknown urge inside me wanted to drink from it too.

I looked back at the two girls shouting and running around and saw El turning this way.

Ah! El’s angry again! And this time, she’s packed with bursting energy!!!

Let’s drink the energy drink too!

I took El’s cup and drank from it. Since I’m going to drink anyway, might as well use El’s cup!

“UWOOOOOOHHHH!!!”

The moment I drank the energy drink, my whole body felt like it’s bursting with energy!

I was overcome with a feeling that, if I don’t use this energy up, then my body would explode!

“AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!”

Escaping from El’s wrath, I charged outside the house and ran to the open field.

“COME BACK HERE YOU PERVERTED BASTARD!!!”

“Yaaaaaa! I wanna play too!!! Ahahahaha!”

A weird scene played out in front of Mei’s eyes.

Aeran was chasing El, El was chasing Lucas, and Lucas was running madly for his life.

For a while, Mei stood in the house blinking.

“What...just happened?”

She was completely confused how the situation turned out to be so.

She just finished washing the dishes and took a bath when Lucas said he will be out in a bit.

But when she got out from the bath, this scene happened.

Suddenly, she looked towards the kitchen where a half full blender was there, then she looked towards the cup.

“Master drank from this...didn’t he?”

After watching the other run for a while, and seeing Lucas running like that as well when he drank from this cup, she more or less understood what happened.

However, her eyes were unable to move from the wet part of the cup as her cheeks blushed.

“S-shall I drink it too?”

Hesitating, she looked back outside through the window and saw three figures chasing after each other.

*Gulp*

“YAAAAAAAA!!! LET’S GO!!!”

She no longer hesitated and drank the mysterious drink that drove Lucas and El mad!

“YAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!”

“WHY IS MEI RUNNING TOO!!!???”

What the hell is this!? Why did Mei drink that too!!!???

She should’ve already known that the drink I blended was the cause of this all but she still drank it!? And why is she also chasing me!!!???

In an instant, Mei had caught up with El and the two looked at each other.

...Huh? Oi, what’s with that ‘let’s-see-who-gets-Lucas-first’ look in your eyes!!!???

Hey hey hey hey! Don’t suddenly make me your finishing line in your race! Why are you all chasing me!!!???

“Hahahaha! Papa!!!”

Aeran too! Weren’t you chasing El earlier!? Why are you chasing me now too!?

Also, flying is cheating!!!

“AAAAAHHH!!!”

With three girls racing each other as they chase me, I let out a shout to the heavens and ran for my life.

“Haah...haah...seriously...what…haah...were you...trying...to do...?”

“I...I was...haah...making...and energy...drink...for...Rimmer...Corp...”

“Bastard!...Why did you...haah...let me...drink it then!?”

“Y-you suddenly...drank it...how can I stop...you...?”

El and I argued while we laid down on the open grass, panting and out of breath.

To the side, Mei was also heavily panting while Aeran just slept soundly as she curled up on my arm.

Aeran didn’t drink the energy drink but was running purely out of liveliness so she was the first to get tired and I had to carry her while running away after that.

After about an hour, El collapsed in exhaustion while me and Mei followed soon after.

After arguing for a while, we all laughed and sighed.

We all lied down together on the grass, looking at the stars in the sky.

El lied on my right while Mei was on the left.

I didn’t notice when but El had already fallen asleep and snuggled on my right arm.

I looked to the left and also saw Mei sleeping and inching closer to my left arm.

As for Aeran, this little girl curled herself on my chest without even minding my discomfort.

I sighed again and smiled.

Let’s experiment on the energy drink again some other time. For now...let’s sleep.

The night passed and when I woke up, Mei was already gone and probably cooking breakfast.

Aeran and El were still asleep though.

These two really sleep a lot…

Amused, I looked at El’s sleeping face and poked her cheeks.

My eyes focused on her lips and I couldn’t help but become dazed. The finger poking her cheek became a palm and rested on her cheek instead.

I gulped a mouthful of saliva and my head inched forward...slowly...closely…

“Mnhh...”

Hearing the sudden moan, my body shook and looked towards Aeran who was in the middle of waking up.

“Papa...mornin’...”

“O-ou, morning Aeran, did you sleep well?”

“Un! I had a really good dream!”

“Oh? What kind of dream?”

“Hehe, secret~”

“Haha, fine, fine. Go inside and wash your face.”

“Kay~”

Seeing the little girl happily fly to the house, I couldn’t help but shake my head and smile wryly.

Before I knew it, I’m already used to being called ‘papa’ by this girl.

I looked back towards El and was shocked to see El already awake and was looking at me with half open eyes.

“H-hey, morning.”

“...Morning...”

“...That...How long were you awake?”

“Oh, just now.”

“I-I see...”

I breathed a sigh of relief in my mind.

Good, she didn’t see what I tried to do earlier.

“I was trying to sleep more when some guy kept poking this queen’s face.”

“This guy even touched this queen’s face and held it for a long time.”

“When I wondered what this guy was going to do to this queen, I went to peek in his mind and saw him wanting to kiss this queen’s royal lips.”

I sighed in relief again in my mind.

So it was just a dream...phew, that was close...but a part of me was also disappointed...

Looking back to El, I found her smiling slightly as if amused by my reaction.

...Wait, was that really her dream?

Just as I was getting suspicious, El’s hand went to my cheek and her head moved forward.

Our lips touched.

It only lasted for a second but I felt the world stopped for a lifetime.

I continued to lie there on the grass, still frozen from the sudden kiss.

El laughed and stood up.

“Are you going to stay there like an idiot? Hmph, this queen will go inside first then.”

I tilted my head upwards and saw El happily skipping as she went inside the house.

As for me, I still continued to lie down with my brain completely frozen.

Only after a while did I finally got a how of myself and chased after her inside.

“Ah, master! Let’s have breakfast!”

“Papa, look! Look! I got two eggs!”

“Haha, little Aeran, do you want more? This queen can give you more if you want!”

“Wa! Milady queen yay!”

I stood by the door watching the three girls laugh as they ate breakfast and smled wryly.

This feeling...is not bad at all.

“Hey, hey! Why are you taking my egg if you gave yours!?”

“Hmph! This queen wants it, do you think you have a choice!?”

“Y-you-...”

“Haha, master, there’s still more.”

“One more!”

Like a normal happy family, we continued to banter and laugh as we ate.

Though that kiss earlier happened, there doesn’t seem to be any changes to my life at all.

After the meal, El quickly took little Aeran to the bath and Mei washed the dishes so I was left alone again.

I went back to [Earth] and traveled home to hand over the [Portal] to my little brother, Ran.

When I got home, there was already a pickup truck on the side of the road and mom was talking with some people by the door. There was also a big cardboard box behind them so I guess the washing machine had also arrived.

Seeing me approach, mom quickly finished signing the papers and welcomed me.

“Son! You’re back!”

“Mom, I’m home!”

“What’s with all these things? There’s also a pickup truck! Me and Rose were just joking before yet you went and bought them! Do you still have money? Is your workmates treating you good? Your boss hasn’t scolded you right?”

Hearing her rapidfire worrying, I laughed and felt warm.

“Haha, I’m fine, mom. I also bought Ran something. Is he home?”

“Oh, he just went off to school. He even forgot his lunch box and pocket money! Really, that kid.”

“Ah, then let me just get it to him. I’ll take the pickup truck for a spin while I’m at it too.”

I looked towards the pickup truck and thought that I didn’t even get a chance to drive it yet.

I also already have a driver’s license yet I have no car for myself. Guess I’ll buy one someday.

“Alright. Do you still know how to get there?”

“Of course, went to the same school before remember?”

“Alright, alright. You’re the grown up already. Go. Also, when are you going to bring back a girlfriend?”

My body froze upon the sudden mention of girlfriend.

“Hm? Her mother came by yesterday. She was saying a lot about you and how great you are so I assumed that the daughter she mentioned was your girlfriend.”

Both me and El shouted simultaneously.

She won’t really kill me...right?

Mom’s eyes lit up and narrowed her eyes as she looked at me smilingly.

I took the lunch box and money from my mom’s hand and darted to the pickup truck and drove away.

Finally away from mom, I sighed and relaxed for a bit.

“Haha, you look like you just finished battling the Final BOSS.”

“Final BOSS...I guess you can say that...”

More like, El, aren’t you already completely taken in by our culture?

“At least you have a mom.”

“...El, how can you say that? I’m sure you have one too and she waiting for you even now. We’ll get your memories back, I promise.”

I sighed but upon hearing El’s laughter, I can only smile wryly.

After some time, I finally reached Ran’s school.

Seeing this high school really makes one nostalgic.

I remember back then, I would even have a crush on my seatmate and the teacher.

Laughing, I went inside while drowning in nostalgia.
