Chapter 14
-------------------
“Who would like to bet on Komanji?!” The referee immediately shouted out, skipping the pleasantries.
“Me!! 50 copper!”
“2 silver!”
“70 copper! Crush ‘em for us, Komanji!”
“I bet 4 silver! I don’t know what Black Cloak did, but there’s no way Komanji can lose!”
“60 copper! No… 80 copper! All in!”
Shouting out higher and higher numbers, everyone looked at each other, confidently. No one believed that Komanji could lose. It just wasn’t possible!
This was different from the lithe Crane Toppler. With his huge size, bulging muscles, and lethal fighting prowess, Komanji was a destructive machine! They would more quickly believe Komanji would accidentally critically injure Black Cloak than somehow get defeated.
“Alright!” The referee laughed, loving the lively atmosphere. This was what the arena was all about! “Now, who for Black Cloak?”
“...”
The square quieted down once again. People started to bring down their voices.
However, not many people laughed. Last time, they had lost all their money! They didn’t want to jinx it again.
“I would like to bet all my money I just won on myself again, please,” Black Cloak’s gruff and strained voice rang out once more.
There was a moment of stunned silence.
"...what...?"
“Black Cloak… again?”
"What is this guy thinking..."
The crowd’s amazed voices rang out.
With surprise, they all peered at him curiously.
What was Black Cloak thinking? He had already gotten lucky the first round and had won so much money. Did he really think he had a chance against Komanji?! He was literally four times Black Cloak’s size.
In the crowd’s eyes, if Black Cloak was smart, he would run with the money.
However… no one was disappointed. This was their chance to win their money back! All that money he had gained from the last round… it had been theirs! Now, they could get it back.

“Haha, good, good.”
“Thank god! I need my money back!”
Many looked around at each and smiled, as if it was a relief that their money was safe, after all.
Just at that moment, a feeble voice rang out from the crowd.
“Wait… I bet on Black Cloak too!”
After a slight hesitation, the voice continued: “80 copper coins!”
Everyone stared in that direction.
It was a young man with green hair, his eyes bloodshot as he held up his money.
His face clenched, he was breathing heavily. He knew it was silly… but he just had a nagging feeling… this Black Cloak was the real deal! There was no fluke!
Thus, he would bet all his money on it! 80 copper coins… it wasn’t much, but to him, a humble fisherman, it was an entire week’s salary!
“Silly!” The crowd chided. What kind of idiot would bet for Black Cloak in this situation?
“Wait, wait, me too!! 70 copper coins!” Another one joined in chorus.
“Fuck it, all in. 2 silver!” A third person tacked on.
One after another, a few minority voices bet for Black Cloak.
It seemed that some few people had been inspired by Black Cloak. Maybe it was because they liked the narrative, that despite his weak looks, he was much deeper in reality! Like a lion hidden in the grass… he was a beast waiting to strike on his prey!
It had been a while since an interesting character like this had appeared!
“Fools!” The rest of the crowd began to laugh. Just because of one lucky match, did these people really believe that Black Cloak was actually something worth betting for?
However, they weren’t disappointed. it was good for them! There would be a bigger pot of rewards for them when Komanji won.

“Alright, alright, let’s get it started!” Komanji suddenly pounded his fist into his palm. “This guy has gotten too arrogant from his luckiness. He needs to put into his place!”
“KOMANJI KOMANJI!” The crowd proceeded to pump him up again, cheering fiercely. They wanted their money back!
“Alright!” The referee immediately consented, looking back and forth between the two opponents.
As he did, his face couldn’t help but twist strangely. It was like looking at a parent and toddler… the size disparity was that large.
“3… 2… 1…! Fight!” The referee shouted, before once again stepping to the side.
“HAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!”
Wasting no time at all, Komanji screamed loudly, and then burst forward like a comet. In mere moments, he was already streaking toward Black Cloak.
Whoosh!!!
Closer and closer…
He was now directly in front of him!
“Wow!” The crowd gasped. This speed was significantly faster than the speed Crane Toppler had exhibited! “Black Cloak is screwed now! Komanji has really improved! Before his weakness was speed, but now it seems that he’s been training! On top of being so huge and powerful, he’s so fast! It’s unknown what happened last round, but there’s no way Black Cloak will be able to pull it off again!”
