They say that the horrors of the sky's the earthbounds’ greatest enemy, that the dragons, wyverns, griffins, hippogryphs and those of their ilk look down upon us with disdain, like cattle in their pastures stretching from horizon to horizon. It might not be far from the truth in some places, especially those closest to the untamed region where these monsters reign like emperors. Most tend to focus on that which is above them, forgetting that which lay below.

The horrors of the sky is nothing compared to what lies beneath our feet, slumbering, festering, consuming and raging. There are things down there that none would even survive gazing at, growing unhinged when faced with the truth of these beings, the truth of the power and insanity, the distorted side of life never shown to us, no light casting relief at the depths of their dominion.

I’ve been called a fool, a madman, a jester and a fraud but no matter how long it takes I have to make them see reason. We have to warn the emperors, the kings and queens, the lords of all those sworn to protect the common man from threats beyond our own ability to combat, for this is such a threat, mark my words. There is no way of knowing when they will come for us, where they will strike. No way to know what will be the horror bringing us down into the earth, through subjucation or genocide it matters not.

They will come from beneath our feet, our lords’ gazing at the skies, wondering when the stars will fall as we perish inside the walls.
