Lore, The five main categories
Warrior, Rogue, Archer, Mage and Healer. These are the five main categories of combat and magic focused classes. There are of course classes not fitting into any of the five most prominent categories and we often label those as belonging to the miscellaneous category. Those can be workers, crafters and the like.
The fastest way to level up with any class is through combat, even with the classes belonging to the misc-category. There are however other ways for crafters and workers to gain experience, more on that in later (see page 143).
The Warrior category covers classes that mainly focus on different facets of physical combat at either short or medium range.
The Rogue category covers classes both physical and magical with a focus on swift takedown of single targets at short range. There are more non-combat focused classes belonging to this category compared to Warrior.
The Archer category covers classes with physical damage output at medium and long range as their focus.
The Mage category covers all magical focused classes of all ranges and is the broadest category of them all. There are many affinity specific variants and their focus doesn’t have to be solely on combat, even though that is the most common way a mage class develops.
The Healer category is often thought of as a mage subcategory but research into the class has shown great variety in classes not necessarily focused on magical regeneration or restoration. Alchemy, physical or mental therapy and other forms of healing can be the focus of a class and fit perfectly well into the Healer category.
There’s of course a lot of overlap between the five most prominent categories, sometimes also incorporating aspects more suited to the misc-category. This is to be expected though as the category isn’t a limiter on what a class may be able to achieve, merely a categorization of its roots and fundamental purpose.

This isn't my first attempt at writing a story, and it isn't even my first attempt at writing this particular story, but I'm not in any way what I would call "experienced". I decided to upload my writing here because I just wanted to get my ideas out there, and I wanted to get some constructive criticism for my writing from the RRL community. All comments are welcome, but please try to keep them positive and constructive! If you leave a rating, I would appreciate it if you left a short explanation of what you liked and what I can improve on. I'll be uploading each chapter as I finish them, but this is still the first draft so anything and everything is subject to change. The cover art is drawn by me, but I'm in no way married to it. I just wanted something that showed the three magical sources, as I picture them in my head. If you do any art based on this story, send it to me! I would love to see it. I'll stop talking now, I hope you enjoy the story!

I'm sure you guys start guessing how the story goes, but too bad, this one is different than the others.
