《Kenosis of the Light Bearer》Chapter 13 - Smashing records

It wasn’t until years later when Lucifer perfected his own martial art, the four elements style that he realized the old man did pass down his secret technique. He went to a Wing Chun gym to confirm it. Subconsciously he had memorized all the moves and even secret moves that not even the masters had been taught.
The old man’s beatings had actually programmed his muscles and refined his techniques. He had been hit so many times that dodging, striking and using the enemies own weight against them had become second nature. The fist of Wing Chun had led to the perfection of his own water fist from the four elements style. Wing Chun was smooth like the flowing tides and it could be harsh like tsunami, it was a balance of forces.
His body right now had none of those muscle memories but he still clearly remembered those techniques and the fast striking method that nearly killed him every time he fought against the old man.
“10,000 strikes of spring”
Wing Chun means Spring Chant. This move represented the word spring as in springing into action, the springing of your arms to create fast, fierce and powerful strikes while also embodying the calmness and beauty of the spring season. The chant was the rhythm of your body, the beating of your heart, the breath within your lungs, the blood coursing through your veins. It was the sounding of the drums as your fist pummel against their flesh.
The movements were simple and didn’t have the same power as haymakers or roundhouse kicks but that’s not where the move shined. It was in the pure repetition of the punch, from the first slow strike to its one hundredth. The force was weak at first but like an army of ants the power continues to build, from a single kilogram of force to one thousand kilograms of crushing power. The move was a death sentence to anyone stupid enough to get caught in its trap.

But there was one problem, his left hand still had two broken fingers and his right hand stung from the two missing finger nails but he grit his teeth and attacked.
Tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick…..
It sounded like a machine gun smashing against the pad.
Brrrr…. The alarm sounded signaling time up. Once again the old timers were shocked.
“Damn kid, you’ve definitely got to teach me how you do that. But the punches looked quite weak I don’t think they would’ve been registered.” Buckaroo mentioned from the side.
Lucif shrugged his shoulders and smiled, “Well, let’s just wait and see.”
The machine loaded the results.
Punches per second: 12
Strength: 0.6
Total Punches: 720
“A strength of 0.6! That means that each punch on average held the force of at least 600 kilograms!” Buck frowned, “Ya damn kid, you broke my record again.”
Right now Lucifs body was nowhere near the strength of his former self, if he was in peak condition he had no doubt that he could improve these results by at least 150%. Breaking 1,000 didn’t seem all that hard once he regained his former stature but then he thought about Buckaroo and the others. ‘Tsk, if I teach them martial arts it wouldn’t even shock me if they broke 2,000. Damn monsters and their disregard for the laws of physics.’
Lucif could only lament on how unfair it was to be born a normal human being. ‘I wonder what the results will be. I broke the records using techniques not overwhelming strength so I wonder if it will give me a false reading.’
A sound went out over the system like before as the computer made an announcement to everyone in the mines.

New record set! Punching record of 717 held by ID [313] Buckaroo Arlo has been broken by ID [666] Lucifer Akira.
$10,000 has been added to your account.
2000 Meal tickets have been added to your account.
“Hahaha..” Lucifer couldn’t help laughing to himself when he heard the announcement. ‘Only two more records to break now.’
He moved on to the next one. “Punching strength machine, come on kid break another one. I’m really interested to see if you can break all the records. If you can you get $10,000,000 so try hard.”
“10… million dollars?” He was stunned, all he had to do was break all the records and he would be able to win ten million? In his past life ten million was nothing but play money. In this world it was vastly different. It was basically a freshwater oasis in a vast desert being scorched by the blazing hot sun.
He sized up the machine and employed his own martial art called falling meteor. It was the strongest punch he could muster. The punch itself was a combination of his earth and fire martial arts. It combined the two styles strengths and merged them perfectly.
He lifted up his leg into a crane pose. His elbow pointed out as he lifted his wrist and twisted it above his head. His wrist faced towards the front as he turned his body. He transferred all of his body weight onto his front foot before springing from his heel and forcing all the power into the edge of his fist.
Boom!
The sound barrier broke as Lucif hurtled his punch towards the testing bag. When it received the punch the entire building trembled and the machine was ripped from the ground and went flying into the back wall. The machine was completely crushed and the score read ‘Over 9000!!!’
No, that didn’t really happen. It stayed where it was and the machine loaded the results.
Strength: 4.1
Ranking: 651
“651?” Lucif knew that there were currently 666 employees at MYHO. Of those 666 employees 16 of them were normal humans and 650 were super human. That means he hadn’t managed to beat any of them and only ranked at the top of the normal humans.
“Oh well kid, keep training.” This made him slightly depressed but he couldn’t help but ask.
“Old man, what was your average punch strength on the last machine?”
Buck creased his eyebrows and thought for a second, “I think it was 20.”
‘20 was 20,000 kilograms. In other words it was 20 tons of force, how is that even humanly possible? 717 punches at 20 tons per strike! What kind of madness is that? Are you trying to fight a truck huh? You want to bully trucks old man!’ Of course this was all said inside his head, he wouldn’t show everyone his jealousy so openly like that.
“Do you also hold the record for this?”
Buck shook his head, “No, not this one. Giant Joe holds this record at a strength of 140. My strength is much higher than average and my technique is the best but in strength I am only ranked 3rd with strength of 100.”
Lucifer threw his gloves on the ground, “Damn monsters, there’s no way I can beat you.”

I'm Always Talking to Myself
My name is Zach. I’m a typical bland featureless protagonist type. The kind of guy who has purposefully few defining characteristics so that people can project whatever they want on me. Like Luke from Star Wars or what’s her name from Twilight. Most main characters are like me. Kind of flavorless blank slates because we all secretly doubt that we’re Harrison Ford, but pretty much anyone could be Mitt Romney. Yep. Yes indeed, I do spend basically my entire life running an internal dialog to no one. Usually I’m imagining that there are people listening. Like maybe philosophers from Ancient Greece, or researchers from another planet who act suspiciously like the characters from that Instagram comic with the aliens. Stupid Instagram comedians stealing my internal monologue and turning into a wildly successful enterprise which I would imagine has a vibrant merch dropshipping arm and hundreds of thousands of daily dopamine hits for loyal followers. I basically spend all of my time explaining random things to imaginary people (and aliens, and animals, and household items which have inexplicably gained sentience and frankly have some concerns about this whole existence thing). Honestly, it’s both highly entertaining to me, in that it makes me think about why we humans do all of the bizarre things that we do, but also horrifically exhausting and kind of makes you feel like you’re either, worst cast, losing your grip on reality, or best case, becoming Abed from Community. Anyway, I’m sure that I have some distinguishing characteristics, but, in the interest of hypnotic suggestion I’m choosing to omit them until I’m pretty sure that you have subconsciously come to identify with me, or until I feel like it. (By the way, in case I forgot to mention it, a higher power called Aww Thor or something told me to say that this is a slice-of-life comedy adventure and that it's set in a fantasy world with isekai and LitRPG elements.)
