*Ansgars POV*

The familiar contract was a succes but the outcome was... unexpected. After the light faded two figures were laying on the ground, Taro and Ruth. Many pass out after they form a familiar contract because of how straining it is.

But after the light faded, Ruths body started to glow (kinda like a pokemons evolution).

I knew what was happening. It was evolution. The familiar contract must have triggered it. Mrs. Julia who had rushed towards Taro to take care of him also stared at Ruth with exited eyes. Ruter and Spada were still standing outside the circle, watching.

From what I heard from Mrs. Julia Ruth was just over one month old as far as she knew and had already evolved once. This intrigued me, it is unusual for a beast to evolve so early. But it didn't surprise me too much if it was Ruth we were talking about. Since the first day she had continued to surprise me.

Her intelligence, powers, how she was able to stop my Appraisal; it was all so... weird. I needed to know more. But she didn't want to tell me. So I decided to not bring it up, instead trying to solve it myself. It did not work.

I wonder what she will become. What does the future have in store for her and Taro?

Ruths body suddenly started to change shape. I couldn't see it very well because of the light but I can see she grows bigger every second that goes by.

Then the glow got weaker. And weaker. And weaker. Until it was all gone.

I could hear Julia draw her breath and I could understand why. An Earth Priestess Bird. And from what I could see, a variant.

I have seen a couple of Earth Priestess Birds. They have a very humanoid look and have the physice of a human female but their whole body were covered by feathers. Their faces, while humanlike still had dominant traces of bird. Big, almond shaped eyes, tiny mouths and noses.

While they had wings on their backs, they also had a set of arms with claw like hands. They have bird feet and sharp talons.

Ruths new form looked like this except for a few things; instead of the classical brown feathers that should adorn her, she is dressed in pure white, like snow and while all the other Earth Priestess Birds looks like full grown women, she looked like a young child, about the same age as Taro. She also possessed no arms, just wings.

Her eyes were bigger than that of an "adults" and her wings seemed to large for her frail build. On top of her head she had large feathers pointing right out and she had a long, slender tail, the same she had in her previous form. She also had green marks covering parts of her body.

What was this? I had never heard of a variant like this before. But before I could react Ruter had already picked Ruth up.

"What are you doing, just standing there? Let's go find some clothes to the lil' miss or she'll be REAL embarrased."

Both me and Julia snap out of it, imagining how Ruth would react if she woke up, naked. She would probably jump down from a cliff.

While Julia is looking for clothes that may fit Ruth, I am ereasing the familiar contract circle and Ruter is taking care of Taro and Ruth. Spada the war bear is letting them lean against her.

After a while Julia walked out of the house with a large blouse. She said she didn't have anything that was her but that this was the closest she could come. While Ruth was unconscious she dressed her. Then we just had to wait.

After about half an hour they started to wake up. Taro was first but he was really confused. Then Ruth awoke.

((Urghh... It feels like I just got hit by a hurricane...))

"Nice nap?" Julia asked.

"Mom? What happened? Was it a succes?" Taro was really confused.

((Yeah, what happened? My body feels... EHHHHHHH!?!?!?!))

Ruth finally noticed her new body. Taro turned his head and saw Ruth for the first time.

"Ruth what's wro-- HOLY CRAP!"

"Taro! Mind your language!" Julia scolded Taro.

Taro and Ruth jumped up on their feet and started checking out Ruths body.

"Wawawawawa! Ruth, you look even cooler! Look at your wings! They are huge!"

((I know, right! And look at my talons! They are so sharp!"

"You could cut anything with them!"

((Do you think I will be able to fly now?))

"Yeah! With wings like those you will be able to fly in no time!"

Ahhh, thanks to the familiar contract they seem to be able to commuicate telepathic but they doesn't seem to have noticed it yet.

But this may get troublesome. Earth Priestess Birds are highly sought after by both royalty and the church. If they hear about this they will without a doubt come to take her. We have to be careful.

I look at Julia. She seems to be thinking about the same thing as I am, if I am to judge by her expression.

But for now, let Taro and Ruth be happy.

I look so cool! Look at me! I stretch my wings in their full length. They are atleast two meters wide.
