*Julias POV*
Ansgar and I were talking about Ruths newfound affinity when Taro suddenly came running out of the forest. He was panting heavily and yelled the moment he saw us. He screamed about trolls, how Ruth was still there and how we needed to help. I told Ansgar to stay with Taro while I ran to help Ruth. I found her location pretty quick because I had earlier placed a tracking charm on her clothes
When I arrived it was chaos. The trees had twisted into unnatural shapes, as if they hade been made out of grass. Rocks were flowing mid-air like they did not weight anything at all. Put the most terryfying thing was the spikes.
From the ground, giant spikes had appeared. They were as high as the trees and there were about 20 of them.
Taro had only mentioned one troll but what I saw was four off them, all glutton trolls. They are known for their endless hunger and stupidity. But they were all dead. One of them had their neck crushed, another one had been impaled in the head with a weapon, seemingly a sword. But the other two... They had both been impaled on the spikes and were hanging 10 meters up in the air. It looked like they had been put in a meatgrinder. The only reason I recognized them as glutton trolls were because of their tusks. Their limbs were twisted in weird directions and they had looks of anguish on their faces.
In the middle of everything, there she was, unconscious. Lying on the ground, covered in burns and wounds. Her left leg had a deep wound, I could even see parts of her bone. I don't know of she will ever be able to use it again. And her eye... Completely gone. Just an empty eye socket remained.

Poor Ruth.
Right then I didn't really cared how she survived, I just wanted to take her home. I picked her up and held her in my arms softly as I ran home. When I arrived I forbid Taro from seeing Ruth, refusing to let him see her current condition. I told him to stay outside while me and Ansgar would treat her injuries. At first he refused but I convinced him that she would be fine.
Ansgar and I laid her down on the kitchen table and began the operation. In my past adventurer days I was know as the master of healing, my abilities second to no one. But healing magic is not omnipotent, it can't fix everything.
I started by taking of her clothes so that I could clean her wounds. It was worse than I thought. How was she even able to survive for so long?
Except for her missing eye and large wound on her leg she also had mutiple broken bones, a concussion, and damaged internal organs. Healers can only heal what they can see so in order to heal them I had to cut her open. Godness...
The operation took 7 hours. She stopped breathing 3 times during the time I healed her heart but she always came back. She wants to survive. She is fighting for her life.
Finally we were done and I sat down. Thank you Chreshna for watching over us... I looked up and froze. In the doorgap stood Taro with a pale expression on his face.
"Taro!" I yelled. He turned around and ran.

*Taros POV*
IT'S MY FAULT IT'S MY FAULT IT'S MY FAULT!!!!
IT IS MY FAULT RUTH IS INJURED!!
*sob*
I have been running for a couple of minutes. It is dark. Mom must be worried. She looked shocked when she saw me, she didn't want me too see. I fall on something and scratch my knee but I don't even notice it.

Why? Why?! If only I had stayed, then maybe I could have helped her! If I had been fatser then mom could have helped her sooner! I am useless! If only I were stronger! Why am I not strong!? I need more strenght!!!
[If it is strenght you seek then maybe I can help you] a soft voice suddenly says. I look up.
In front of my an incredibly beautiful lady is hovering. She is smiling. But how can she shine like that?
[I stand here before you my child, with an offer. The offer of strenght.]
"S-strenght?" My throat feels dry.
[Yes my child, strenght. Enough strenght to protect those you care about.]
"B-but why me?"
[I have choosen you my child, because your heart is pure and your will strong. The only thing I wish of you is that when time comes you will protect the humans from evil. Do you accept?] The beautiful lady stretched out her hand.
For a second I hesitate but remebering Ruth I am filled with an unknown emotion.
"I accept, my lady."
[Good. But there is no need to call me lady. Call me... Chreshna.]
A bright light envelopes me. I don't know what the future have in store for me but now I am able to protect them.

Meanwhile in an unknown location, unknowns POV.
This world, I despise it. I have given up on it. Once upon a time I had faith in it, I looked at it with love. But nowthe only things I see is greed, hate, war and unjustice. I have tried to save it so many times but no one wants anything to change. They say they hate war but laughs when their enemies die. Pathetic.
But I cannot destroy this world, something insides me stops me. Is it because of somewhere deep inside I still hope that this world can be saved? I don't know.
Therefore I wait for it all to end. I wait for those two bitches to destroy both themselves and this world. It's gonna happen soon. They have both choosen their champions. When they clash it shall end the world. I have forseen it. But they don't care. As long as they can destroy the other they are happy.
I look up to the night sky. It's beautiful. It is hard to believe that long ago an still hopefull me looked up onto the same sky.
I was such an idiot back then.

A Fragmented Mind
"Hi there. My name is Richard Maddox, but my — admittedly nonexistent — friends call me Rick. I live in a world of superheroes and villains. A world filled with magic and physics-defying powers, and in this world, I'm just an ordinary, completely average 17-year-old boy. My imaginary friends, however, are as far from average as you get. You think you're good at deluding yourself? Well, stand back, because it's time for a master to show you his craft. Welcome to my life, the life of a madman." This story was originally inspired by the 'Legion' novella series written by Brandon Sanderson. If you've read those books and liked them, it might be worth giving this a read. The same goes if you haven't read them either, I guess. (Currently re-writing earlier chapters)
