《Overwrite》Chapter 9

Ryu returned home with a new, well, second hand, headset. As far as his family knew he hadn’t suddenly retrieved 300 dollars from some less than legal black magic fuckery, so the easiest way to avoid questioning was to not draw too much attention.
Turned out that was a pretty good strategy, as the first thing he heard when he walked into his room wasn’t “how’d you afford that?”, but instead...
“Ah~”
Not quite what he expected.
Ruri was lying on his bed again with her back facing him and his sheets draped over her. Whatever she was doing it was keeping her-
“Ahhh~ Niiiii-chan~”
Ryu’s breath hitched. That wasn’t a moan. Definitely not. Even though her back was turned to him and she was making cute noises which he definitely could not interpret as being lewd, there was nothing suspicious about this!
“Ahem.” The cute melody immediately ceased. “I got a new headset.”
Ruri’s head turned to the side, with her body following after.
“Ah.” She took a breath, short on air. “That’s good.”
Ryu stepped forward cautiously, testing for any reaction, before taking a seat.
“Soo… uh… do you want to play?”
Ruri stared at him for a second before her eyes darted away. “Obviously.”
She pulled the blanket up to her neck before holding out her hand. Surely she was cold, on this bright and sunny day. Thus, without giving it any thought, Ryu plugged the new headset in and handed it over.
She put it on and laid back, flicking the visor down in the process. A few seconds later a notification popped up on Ryu’s computer.

The other headset was still there, sitting on his desk, and he did feel like playing… though, if he sat in his chair his neck would hurt afterwards.

His eyes naturally shifted to his bed, where Ruri’s body laid near motionless, only rising and falling as she breathed.
“I could… no.”
Ryu got up and paced around the room, which was really just walking back and forth since his room wasn’t large enough for anything more dramatic.
“If I just scoot her… no”
Ryu stopped.
“I mean, this is my bed…”
Ruri normally played for a couple hours, and, being the good brother he was, he never did anything despite the fact that she was completely defenseless and unaware of anything happening in the real world. So, keeping in mind the fact he was a good brother who only wanted to lay down and play, he crept towards his bed.
