《Atonement of an Immortal》Chapter 15: Departure

The final test for students was a comprehensive exam. It had three separate examinations - potential, power and wealth.
Potential referred to one's talent. At the start of the exam, one would be judged in their cultivation and their talent in martial arts. Of course, age was an important consideration in this test as well. The tower valued potential the most. Therefore, in the final test which was a total of 300 points - the highest segment of marks were placed in this section - a total of 150 points. The score was judged by a panel of experts from all races and the minimum requirement to be a member was to be in the perfect realm of cultivation! According to the system, a score of 70 was the bare minimum to pass. According to the tower's standards, someone with 70 potential may become a saint in the future. A score of 90 was said to be quite good. Most of the experts with 90 potential would reach the perfect realm in the future. Also, 110 was taken as the potential to reach the immortal realm.
According to history, any genius of the tower that scored above 120 had reached the immortal realm if he/she did not die midway. Karslon Dumbledore had the highest score in the history of this exam - 127.
Many experts believed that Michael would pass the exams by just his potential. But, the tower valued power too. Even if a genius had great potential but not the will and perseverance, he would never reach higher realms. Thus, combat power was evaluated out of 100 points. If one's combat power reached peak saint realm, one would be given a straight 100. One must know that the age barrier to the test was 19 years. Having such strength at such age was inconceivable. It should be noted that the power was taken with respect to humans for peak saint realm.

There had been some geniuses that scored beyond 80 on this scale. These geniuses had the combat power of early saints. It was not to say that they reached the saint realm but had blessings or racial abilities that allowed them to reach such combat power. The highest score in this test was set by the current beast emperor - 83.
The final part was wealth. The tower basically evaluated your background through this test. It had a simple procedure - the tower gave out several missions of different points and the students could use all means to finish them. But, one could only pick a single mission. These missions were generally much harder than what would be possible for the candidate to finish by themselves.
Michael saw the different missions that had been put up on the board. These were definitely quite hard. Even the easiest was to finish of bandit groups that had several late emperor realm experts at the helm!
Michael indifferently looked at all these missions before picking one up - To kill all leaders of elven sex traffickers. Elves were naturally the most beautiful race in Aterna. Thus, it was reasonable that many elves of both genders were targeted. After all, the social order of the world revolved around strength and might made right. If the beast emperor were to want an elven commoner lady as a concubine - the elven royal family would gift pack the lady and have her delivered to the beast emperor's bedchamber!
Elves were also too less in comparison to other races and hence elven sex slaves were sold at exorbitant prices in the black market. The elven government regularly kept hunting these groups. The hardest to handle were the traffickers who were elves themselves as they could easily win the trust of their fellow members and capture them. The request was to finish off one such group which had an elf at its head - Diros. He was an elven commoner by birth and was the leader of an underworld gang that also ran the trafficking business. The problem was that his cultivation was in the mid perfect realm. Of all the currently active perfect realm experts, only the Atrexia emperor was in the mid perfect realm. To kill Diros, perhaps all four of the current generation experts would have to move! For Michael to chose this request was overestimating himself. But, if his plan succeeded, he would be able to finish the mission without lifting a finger.

As Michael took the mission, the mission information was removed from the board. After taking care of all his stuff, he went to meet Ramsus.
Michael : I will be leaving for two years. In these two years, you can use all the cultivation resources that are allotted to my quota. If you can reach the mid king realm by then, you will be able to do more things for me.
Michael left after saying as such. Ramsus was still in the late knight stage. For him to reach the mid king stage in two years would be very difficult even with Michael's share of resources. But looking at Michael's eyes, he felt something. It was the same eyes that he had when he had beaten the crap out of all the guards! The eyes that challenged the world! The eyes that seemed to focus on something much grander! In that instance, Ramsus knew that the crown prince was raising his fangs now. When he returned, he would shake entire Aterna!
After meeting with Ramsus, Michael met with Demitrus. He just said:
Michael : When I return, the value of decree in your hands will be manyfold.
Demitrus had some idea what Michael might do. It was just that he was still having a problem figuring out how Michael would do so.
Among all the farewells, Michael left the tower in his family carriage. It was going to be a very exciting journey!

Greys II - Ghosts
There he stood, dark eyes, dark hair, beautiful in the most devastating of ways. It scared me how little he had changed, his hair was longer and black, his frame thinner, like he hadn't eaten since I last saw him. His eyes were different, lacking something they had always held before, lacking anything really, and yet he was the same. He looked weak, but I knew he wasn't. "Hi, angel."His voice was just as dead as his eyes. It sent a shiver up my spine. That was the reason I felt sick, that was the reason he seemed different. He was dead, and as much as I wanted to hate him, I was sad he was empty, sad he wasn't the same man anymore."Hello, Gabriel."My voice came out softer than I would have liked, the words burning my tongue. But it didn't matter, I got the desired effect even if the volume wasn't there. He flinched, his eyes widening, his eyebrows twitching up and together, his jaw setting for just a moment. But then it was gone and he looked away, death settling back in his eyes, in the lines of his face.» ✦ «#2 in Angel Romance#3 in Demonology#11 in Thriller#Mature, 18+ for all the reasons.
