Day 4,557

Second day of our expedition.

We saw a herd of Vrakadi in the distant plains as we exited the valley. It is the first time we’ve seen the giant carnivores in real life. Most accounts were from Slayers and explorers who had merely described their encounters with them.

They are indeed large creatures—easily fifty feet high—and I am amazed by their long tail and gigantic tasks. Some of the mercenary groups wanted to hunt a few and harvest the body parts, but our commander, General Adren, forbade them. He said the force could not risk losing members at this early stage in our mission. The mercenaries complained, but they were quickly pacified when Adren promised to pay them double.

Nothing eventful happened throughout the day. However, that feeling of being watched still remained with me. When I asked the others, they seemed not to notice it. Perhaps it is indeed just me, though I find that highly unlikely.

After all, my instincts has always been right.
