《Unlimited Evolution》76. The Form of my enemy

Chapter 76: The form of My Enemy~
I have to say, to see the world from the eye of my enemy was something different indeed. My field of vision had increased from that short Imp’s height to that of a tall, even taller than an orc’s, size.
However, despite taking the form, I didn’t get the knowledge behind it. It shouldn’t have happened. Every time I use this skill and it succeeds, I get the story behind the form. It was like that time with the humans where I took the form of a flaming giant.
There can only one of the two reasons for this.
Either the unique one had something that blocks me from knowing more about it, or, this orc didn’t know much about him. Maybe all his fears were based on the unique class’s overwhelming power.
“Y, you? Impossible!!” The orcs gasped in shock and even took a step back with their eyes cascaded in fear. Farey grit his teeth and stepped in front of Ellina while holding his mace defensively.
On the other hand, Ellina looked at ease.
“Calm down, Farey. He is the respected Imp about whom I was talking about.” Ellina said calmly before giving a smile to me.
“Your ability is really annoying.”
I couldn’t stop myself from commenting about it. She always knows everything before even it happens. I wouldn’t be surprised if she had already seen how long I will live and what I would do in the future.
But, I won’t ask her about it. Knowing about one’s own future was as dangerous as not knowing about them. It will bring untold psychological changes if someone knows what will happen with their life.
However, that’s not the only downside.
Just knowing about the future already changed one’s destiny irreversibly.
Therefore, for my own safety, I will never ask her about my future.

“I wish I didn’t have this ability as well.” Ellina lamented. She looked downcast as well.
Well, it looks like knowing about the future was a curse, after all.
“H, how? How did you turn into that form?” Farey stuttered. Even after knowing it was me, not the Bloodyvore tribe’s chieftain, he still couldn’t get rid of his fear.
That’s how much of a terror my enemy was.
“It is one of my many abilities,”
I walked towards the unconscious royalty orc and took a close look at him. I was calling it him because it was really a male orc despite looking and sounding so feminine, at least in terms of orcs.
Having lived so long with them, I have become proficient enough to recognize their genders.
Unfortunately, in this form, I couldn’t physically harm anyone. Or else I would have taken advantage of it to wreak some havoc.
“What is his name?” I asked while inspecting him from top to bottom. I was interegued by those red runes all over its body. They could block my illusionary attacks, at least the weaker ones.
“Baggus,” Ellina said as she trotted over to me. “He was one of the generals serving my father’s army.” She added. I couldn’t tell whether she was sad or just unfeeling about it. It was hard to discern emotions from that face.
“Baggus, eh? Can you tell me what are these red markings on his body?”
From what I could see, they were more like birthmarks than a tattoo. It was as if this orc was born with them.
“They are called Mark of the King. When an orc joins their tribe, they had to undergo a ritual. These markings are the byproduct of that ritual.” Ellina reported. Her eyes, well, from what I could see, at least, didn’t have any emotions when she talked about Baggus or the Bloodyvores.

“Mark of the King? Why such a cool sounding name?”
I couldn’t stop shouting.
Boom!!
Suddenly, I heard an explosion going off somewhere. The source was where Urt and that other orc fought.
The battle was going intense there. Urt was trading blows with that buffed orc on equal footing now. I could see Urt lagged a little in terms of strength, but he made up for it with his incomparable durability due to the new skill and his tactical thinking.
The true nature of a general can only be seen in a battle-field after all.
That earlier explosion was due to Urt’s and orc’s weapons colliding. It created an air pressure bubble when they met before detonating it when they separate.
I couldn’t help but stand and marvel at such fantastical scenes that only happened on TV in my past life.
“Shouldn’t you and go and help him?” Asked Ellina while looking at me inquisitively. Her eyes were no longer on the battlefield but on me.
I sighed, canceling my body metamorphose.
“He doesn’t need my help in this battle. Besides, even if he needs it, I won’t provide it.”
I had my reasons. The enemies I planned to kill were far frightening than a Hobgoblin. What I needed were strong subordinates. Urt was strong in his own right. But, the current him is not enough.
A monster can only evolve if they relentlessly challenge their limits and overcome it. I have a system that puts me in a different category than them. But they don’t have one.
Urt didn’t have a challenging battle ever since he evolved into a Goblin General. Although he was strong, and looked different than an adult goblin, he was still a goblin.
I knew not what the next path of his growth would be. But one thing I was aware of, Goblin General wasn’t his limit.
“Seems like you have your plan,” Ellina mumbled. She sighed and sat on where she stood, overlooking the battle.
Farey and others were slowly recovering from their shock. On the other hand, I stabbed my tail through the unconscious orc’s neck, killing him instantly.
You have killed an adult orc variant. You gained +50 EPs
Your progress after rebirth has been one of the fastest recorded so far. As a reward, your interface will now be upgraded to a higher version.
Upgrade time: 5 hours.
Warning: You won’t be able to access the system or any of its benefits, including EP gathering, during this time. You can, however, have access to all your skills and abilities.
That was all the warning I got before the blue screen in front of me vanished.
I was left in a state of bewilderment. My mouth hung open, wide enough to fill in a goat. The sytem would always evolve together with me. It had never happened that it would do so automatically.
That aside, I also conformed to another thing.
This system was being administered by someone. If it’s not one person, it should be a group. My guess was the gods of this world. However, I couldn’t be too sure.
I was also a bit excited about what changes this new upgrade would bring. The past few upgrades were not as noticeable but helped me a lot in my adventures. Increased detail function and hints function had helped me take down the goblin lord. Now, I couldn’t wait to see what new thing will appear.
On the other hand, the battle between Urt and the Bloodyvore orc reached its climax.
