《Re:Direction The Peak (Cultivation Tale)》CH. 137

It wasn't something that hard. While she was in his Domain, he was also in hers. Unless they fought with Domains, both would exist in parallel. And judging from the fact that he hadn't, he likely had no plans to. Or maybe he didn't even know how? Regardless, it would make for a great trick.
She wasted no time in circulating some spiritual energy through her own Domain and coated some of the squares with her own energy. Then, at a moment he didn't expect, she forcefully twisted all squares in a direction different from the one he aimed. Instead, all bolts rebounded and went straight towards him.
Even though it was a surprise attack, he didn't panic and dealt with the bolts as best he could. He dodged some, blocked the others and forcefully tanked the rest with his body. Two bolts hit him in the right side making him stumble to the left. Hye-Ja didn't even follow-up with any moves. She waited for him to recover. It was quite fun to see his expression right now. This youth wasn't giving up at all.
From the start, he seemed like he believed he had a chance. And the hope of winning still burnt brightly in his eyes. It was so much fun to toy with this little guy. She didn't want her game to end to quickly. She teased him some more before she saw many more squares appear around them. After that, the kid sent bolts once more and rushed at her with his sword.
She was disappointed to see him use the same move. Well, he had made a few modifications by adding more variations and tricks into it but there wasn't much change. She did exactly what she had done previously, coating the squares in her spiritual energy and waited for the opportune moment.

When it appeared, she turned the square then felt the squares forcefully turned back her way. She grinned as the bolts rushed at her. She dodged them all while she laughed merrily. He was growing while he fought her? Now that was interesting. He actually coated her coating with even more spiritual energy.
She looked at him with even more amusement and added another coating on only a few squares. Then, they began to fight by coating over and over the other on squares. The game went on. Unfortunately for Min-Su, he was violently hit by bolts again and again while Hye-Ja dodged everything and every single time.
After being hit by the twelfth bolt, Hye-Ja decided to stop here. She sent her right knee into his stomach and efficiently sent him flying out of the arena and colliding straight into the stands a few dozen meters away. He had crashed quite violently, breaking a few of his bones while at it.
He couldn't even go up and some elders from the Ryu clan hurriedly fetched him to bring him to the healers.
Meanwhile, Hye-Ja walked to the duo of guys who were observing the other disciple getting back on the arena. Even though she had played around with Min-Su, she had heard their discussion. As she approached, she told Song-Min: "Hae-Hyuk is right. That kid grew during our fight. He's still a weakling not worth nurturing in my opinion but his potential is real"
Song-Min snickered a she told her: "You didn't even activate your sixth sense, of course you would say that. Hae-Hyk taught them his secret sight technique, so, of course he would find out about your little trick and learn it"
She indeed didn't use her own sixth sense secret technique to make it more entertaining but she hadn't expected Hae-Hyuk to teach them his greatest secret technique. This complicated things. He actually taught his lifeline to not just one but two disposable disciples? This meant that he was truly serious this year.

She looked at him with a different viewpoint. He still had many years in front of him...Why would he be so interested in this year's event? He could always keep trying during the next one or even the next after it... He had no reasons to teach them this incredible technique. She thought about the possibilities and only one appeared in her mind.
She asked him: "Was it yours this year?"
Both Song-Min and Hae-Hyuk nodded.
She sighed. Now, it made sense. This year was his biggest opportunity. There were very low chances of it happening ever again...To think it would be his this year. Now, this was a game changing information. With this, it meant that he would indeed give it his all. No wonder he did so much for those two kids...
He wasn't training disposable disciples but champions this time.
She gazed at the kid standing on the arena with a spear and facing an elder from one of the other families from this city. He was too weak...But his foundations were strong. They were only lacking in battle experience and this arena would provide it for them. With the secret technique, they would slowly but surely grasp many techniques. With a bit of luck and if they have enough talent, they might even gleam some enlightenment on higher-leveled techniques...
She looked back at Hae-Hyuk and could only admit that this man was thorough. It felt as if he had planned everything since the beginning...How fearsome would it be? Then, she began to think that he probably did. But if he did so, why pick those two kids? They could only send two disciples each after all. And she didn't believe those two were the best available...
She got curious and asked him: "Why did you handpicked those two kids?"
Hae-Hyuk turned around and told her something she didn't expect: "They both broke a taboo"
Even Song-Min didn't expect to hear that and glared at the disciple that was getting beat up on the arena. He couldn't imagine this little guy having managed such a feat. Nor could he imagine the other having done it...
Breaking a taboo meant learning something beyond one's realm. It was extremely rare. That's because they couldn't teach anything behind one's realm due to the dangers it contained. One wrong move or interpretation and the poor student would die.
The fact that he didn't find one but two kids who had done so... This made them curious. Very much so.
How did he find them?
And what taboo did they break?
After all, there were some things that even if you learnt them, you would be unable to make use of. What about those two? They began to observe them more closely while Hae-Hyuk smiled lightly.
He could have made his arena anywhere and people would have traveled from everywhere. The reason he picked this place was because he planned to convince Hye-Ja and Song-Min to join his side from the start.
