《Re:Direction The Peak (Cultivation Tale)》CH. 202

Then, as soon as it finished transforming, the monster roared madly and began a fierce attack on Jin. He was being pushed back by the corrupted being. He had to defend from the many corrupted arrows being fired consecutively in rapid fire, the being using his own self to supply a constant stream of projectiles. Then, he had to deal with the main body and its four long swords made of the element. The worst was that this being was using techniques too and applying them rather well. None of the arrows flew straight but they all homed in onto Jin, none of the swords seemed to be nearly long enough to reach him yet they extended abruptly and retracted just as fast from time to time. This was the true power of a being whose sole physical self was a weapon.
Of course, Jin was no pushover and he managed to defend thanks to his supply of elements used to defend as well as his continuous manipulation of the ten spiritual spears. But this was not enough. If this went on, he would be the one to die. The problem was that he didn't have enough spears to block all arrows and he only had two hands while there were four swords pointed at him.
So, he decisively changed his approach.
He stepped back and used the ten spears to block the four swords while using his two hands to make his own spear revolve around itself and block all arrows sent his way.
A new stalemate was created as both champions seemed to be fighting a distance away from the other. The fierceness of the exchange was no smaller than when they were in a melee though.
After a few seconds, the corrupted being changed his way of fighting once more by taking a different form. It duplicated itself while maintaining a link between each copy. It was as if many humanoid giants were connected together by dozens of strands.

Twenty giants.
That was the next form it took and the greatest form it could muster with its actual mass. All of them were linked and shared a single consciousness. And they rushed while coordinating their attacks. Needless to say, Jin was suffering heavily. He had been in a stalemate while facing one and now, there were twenty.
Obviously, his previous way of fighting was no longer viable so, he switched for another style. Thanks to the secret eye technique he learnt from Hae-Hyuk and that he always kept on while fighting, he could see all those strands linking the many bodies of the being. He reduced the number of spiritual spears to zero and focused solely on maximizing his fine tuning to give himself the greatest speed. He maintained his Domain in order to be able to react to the smallest changes and rushed into the group of titans. He planned to make use of their numbers against them. There were, after all, many martial arts tailored to such situations.
What they weren't made for however was to fight against one entity that was many. As he began to fight in close proximity, projectiles of all kinds shot from every single bodies towards himself in great numbers. Yet this was far from the worst. As he was inside the encirclement, the bodies began to change shapes and created a wall cornering him inside. The wall constantly reduced itself as more and more giants were absorbed inside of it. Yet, the projectiles never stopped being fired.
If this went on, he would be consumed inside this trap, with no way out.
But there were always opportunities within risks!
As the massive circular wave of corrupted element was upon him, he began to rotate his spear over himself and sent the purification element in massive amounts into it while letting flow out. He created a massive protective umbrella and the corrupted being was too late to figure it out. Of course, this wave was his own body and it quickly reacted after having quite a lot of itself being vaporized.

It hurried away in the first shape it had upon entering the ring. At the same time, Jin stopped the umbrella and while breathing heavily, stared at the monster.
Then, he smiled.
This was the kind of battle that he enjoyed and lived for. Still, he didn't have the time to delight himself in the feelings. He quickly used this short pause to take out two elements from his rings and sent them into himself. They were: "focus" and "calmness" in gaseous forms. They were easily breathed in and helped to calm down his breathing and return his mental state to top shape.
The second round began with Jin rushing forward this time.
As he saw his opponent rushing forward, the corrupted being made a decision. It had been surprised by the protective shield that dealt him a lot of damage...But! He recalled that there was only a limited quantity of this potent element. It turned once more into a giant wave, using its entire mass and threw itself at Jin.
Jin didn't stop as he began to revolve his spear over himself while coating it with purification and light element along with his will. The umbrella appeared once more and the wave of corruption hit it hard. It hit both elementally but also physically. The corrupted being had a weight and it threw it all down onto Jin.
The ground cracked under his feet while many of his bones were being crushed under such insane weight. Yet, he stood tall and kept revolving his spear over his head while looking up. The element of focus helped him abstract from the pain and concentrate on his task while the element of calmness helped him even further.
The rain...no... The surging tsunami of this corruption element seemed to have no end as whatever was falling evaporated instantly only to be replaced by more of it. Jin felt as if this moment had been going on for hours yet it was only a few seconds.
A few seconds to determine the issue of a magnificent battle.
A few seconds to differentiate between life and death.
