《Re:Direction The Peak (Cultivation Tale)》CH. 347

When facing such opponents who had higher might but were inferior in techniques, in general, it would end with the one with the better techniques winning. After all, if you didn't know how to put your strength to use, it was useless.
That would be the case when it came to mortals.
For cultivators, the real ones that were at the spiritual stage, it did not work quite like that. Being able to bridge the gap of one stage during the early spiritual stages? That was possible for the geniuses. Two? Only the selected few sons and daughters favored by the heavens could do that. Three? Dream on!
The increase in quality was not linear but exponential.
For Jin to be able to contest with his opponent who was already two stages higher than him spoke lots of his ability. But the reality was that this was far from Jin's limit.
Jin had yet to reveal all his cards.
In fact, he had not revealed any as the people here were unable to understand the 'will' or even perceive it. Let's not talk about the compression of spiritual energy. It was a high-level spiritual technique.
If he continued like this, he would undoubtedly end up winning. Without suffering any damages. However, it would take a while.
As such, he had to give something up in order to finish this faster.
He deliberately opened his right side to the opponent.
Yu Chin saw it. And, taking for the opportunity it seemed to be, went for it. He plunged his wind blade through Jin's arm... But there was neither an eruption of blood nor a painful scream for his opponent. The wind blade had indeed pierced straight through the skin and he could see it.
However, that was it.
That single instant in which Yu Chin's blade pierced his arm, Jin sliced his own blade at him. That moment of surprise was what cost his neck to Yu Chin. His focus had been on the arm. Expecting to slice it. Yet it had not been sliced and the wind blade had remained stuck within.

A second was all it took for Jin's blade to approach.
And Yu Chin could not react. His brain was still processing what happened to his own blade, unable to cope.
Ssssssssssssssssssssssssshh
A head flew in the air, leaving behind a trail of bright red blood. Yu Chin's eyes were still open and his gaze showed his surprise.
However, Jin did not even gaze at it and quickly moved past the body that was starting to fall to the ground.
Obviously, Jin had used one of his trump cards.
Corruption.
That arm that looked like any regular human arm was nothing like that. It was the accumulation of the corruption element concealed by the earring. The wind blade did not pierce flesh but another element.
The wind blade's wind element was of a higher stage and, as such, higher quality than the corruption. But so what? It could not do completely eliminate all of the corruption there. The 'mass' of corruption was far too much. As such, the blade was stuck in a constant battle within the arm. Even if it 'killed' the corruption, there was more to replace it, hence it got stuck.
Quantity overtook quality.
And Jin planned to capitalize on this from the very start.
This was the principle of a successful trade of blows. You let yourself suffer a bit in exchange for making the opponent suffer far more. It was just that thanks to the concealed Corruption, Jin could take it to the extreme.
Not suffering any damage in exchange for the life of the enemy.
And so, Yu Chin, died.
Jin did not bother with his corpse or the belongings he left behind. There were more pressing matters.
The three idiots were crying in gratitude as Jin freed them. It was not difficult. They were very ordinary restraints. The one restrained would be unable to escape by himself but everyone else could easily open them.

Obviously, they did not invest much on that. Though they did not really have the need to. After all, who else but their own was supposed to come here?
As soon as the first was free, Jin and him helped the other two. Next, he ordered them to help the other 'experts' here and go help Ame. In less than a minute, the three idiots and the ten cultivators that had been prisoners were running away towards the outside. Jin told them that he would take care of things here alone but that they needed to go support Ame right away.
After all, if Ame and the others died up there, everyone here would also end up being killed.
A single of the three elders outside was enough to take on many of them without difficulty. Only Ame had the cultivation level to battle them as equals.
Jin hoped that by sending those thirteen over, it would be enough for her to take care of things. In any case, he could not be of much help himself. Battling people in the first decades was one thing but trying to go against those that had gone beyond the 20th stage? Impossible. Truly impossible.
Bridging such a gap was not something he could do.
No one could.
It was best for him to remain here. With the excuse of 'helping' the others and taking care of the other elder. According to the trio, that man, Elder Liao Hu, was at the 14th stage.
If Jin gave it his all with Corruption, Fear, the will and the compression, it was doable.
Tough but doable.
At least, he believed so.
And if it seemed like it was impossible, he simply would not engage. He planned to first go down and observe the man. If he saw that he had a chance, he would kill him. Otherwise, he would not risk it.
Because of Ame, he already took too much risks.

Tower of Somnus
When humanity first encountered alien life, we were judged and found wanting. The Galactic Consensus interviewed our leaders and subjected us to a battery of psychological tests to determine our progress as a society. They found us to be selfish, wasteful, impulsive, and boorish neighbors. Earth was blockaded and our collective encounter with our extrasolar neighbors rapidly faded from memory. All they left behind was a hypercomm relay and a handful of subscriptions to a massively multiplayer game that participants played in their sleep. The Consensus said that it would let us interact with our neighbors in a controlled setting. That it would teach us to be better members of the galactic community. The megacorporations that controlled Earth ignored the game until they learned that the powers earned from clearing dungeons were just as real when day broke. Magic, supernatural abilities and rumors exploded from nothing and a subscription to The Tower of Somnus became a status symbol. Katherine ‘Kat’ Debs doesn’t have much, but it could be worse. Born in an arcology, she was assigned a job in the megacorporation that raised her almost as soon as she could work. Despite the stability of her corporate life, she wanted something more. A chance to claw her way up the rigid social and financial ladder to make something of herself. A chance that wouldn’t come naturally to someone as familiar with dark alleyways and the glint of steel as she was with office work and corporate niceties.Book One is up on Kindle Unlimited as of 7/6/22 - https://www.royalroad.com/amazon/B0B2X3L8H5

He slowly backs up until his back is against the wall like my own, "You're..my neighbor?" He points to my door and I nod my head quickly. He hums softly, "You been here a while?" He asks and I nod my head once again. He chuckles, "Ya head hurt?" I nod again but stop as he laughs softly, "I-I mean.. no.. it doesn't." My cheeks burn red as I look at my shoes, "I-It doesn't hurt.." I repeat like a dummy and listen to him clear his throat, "So do you actually live there or was it bull?" He teased, making a giggle slip past my lips. I look away to the floor again, "I-I like big shirts... a lot." I mumble softly and he nods his head, "Hol' up." He puts his box down before walking over to one of the grey bins. I nosily watch as he pulls out a big grey sweatshirt, "Here." He holds it out for me to take and I stare at him with wide eyes, "F-For me?" I hesitantly grab the soft fabric as he chuckles, "Nah for ya mom."
