《A Spirit Vein's Guide to Immortality》V1C14: The God of Spirit Slag is Benevolent

Then again, even though he tried to focus his attention on the system quest, he still could not help but think about the knowledge he had just assimilated, wondering when it would apply to him. With that in mind, he decided to ask Sisa to satiate his curiosity. “Sisa, will there ever come a time where I’d be able to cultivate, or at least mimic some part of it?”
“Eventually, yes,” Sisa replied, instilling a bit of hope into Arthur. “Though, it would be quite a long while before you’d be able to unlock something that operates on a similar mechanic as cultivation.”
“Well, as long as I have information that I’d unlock something similar eventually, then that’s enough for me right now,” Arthur said in response, his mood now better than when he had just upgraded [Qi Conversion] to Level 11. With that, he finally focused all of his attention on the system quest, deciding to use [Spirit Sense] to try and use [Spirit Analysis] on one of the two people inside his domain. Unfortunately…
“Ah, right. I used up all my qi,” Arthur said soon after, letting out a light sigh as he now had nothing to do. Well, not at least until 3 points of qi appeared in his storage sometime later. For some reason, rather than recovering qi throughout the hour, the system instead recovered a large chunk of it every hour. Although he could not help but find it annoying sometimes, Arthur did not have much of a reason to really be annoyed at it.
And so, Arthur decided to pass the time by talking with Sisa regarding the knowledge he had just obtained from the system. Thankfully, with Arthur having access to the knowledge, that meant that Sisa also had access to the knowledge as well. In fact, she knew a bit more than Arthur, surprising him quite a bit as he did not know that the first three realms had variations to them. Then again, according to Sisa, those variations were quite rare so there wasn’t much point in remembering them.
After that, he also checked the various skills he had, noticing that [Spirit Analysis] now phrased the limit of the skill in terms of cultivation realm rather than Qi Purity. Now, it told him that he could only identify people up to the peak of the Essence Condensing Realm, which Arthur quite appreciated. Of course, for everything else, it was still based on Qi Purity.
Eventually, 3 points of qi appeared in his storage, prompting the system to automatically spend one as he could now see the outside world once more. Inwardly thanking his earlier self for buying such a feature from the system, he then went ahead and looked at the time, noticing that the sun had already set by the time he had activated [Spirit Sense] again. With that, he looked at the pile of Inferior Spirit Slag above his body, seeing that quite a bit of it had been scooped up by Jian while he was gone. Naturally, he did not know the reason why.

Though, as he checked inside the couple’s house through [Spirit Sense], it soon became apparent to him why a small amount of Inferior Spirit Slag had been taken from the pile. From the looks of it, after Jian was ‘answered’ by the God of Spirit Slag, he quickly took a small amount and kept it in a small box as he hastily made his way back into their house. As to what he did next… he actually made a shrine for the god!
At the moment, Jian was religiously praying for the goodwill and blessings from the God of Spirit Slag, prompting Arthur to turn silent as he wondered if there was even a way to correct the man’s thoughts at this point. Of course, Sisa, being the only other being Arthur could interact with, could not help but ask as to what Arthur was seeing. Though, Arthur already had an idea as to why she could not see through what he could see with [Spirit Sense].
To that question, she responded, “For that to happen, you’d have to reach a higher level of Qi Purity. It’s not that I need purer energy in order for me to share senses with you. Instead, I need you to have greater mental acuity in order to accommodate the burden I would bring to your mind.”
Unsurprisingly, Arthur interpreted that as a fancier way of her telling him that he was basically stupid. Then again, he did not take much offense from it. After all, the reason why he died in the first place was because he stood still as a frozen banana fell on his head at great speeds. Any normal person would have tried to dodge that, seeing as there was enough time to do so.
Moving that aside, Arthur told Sisa what he was currently seeing, prompting her to let out a loud laugh as she could not help but say that humans were weird sometimes. “It’s kind of funny to think that humans quickly attribute things they don’t understand to gods.”
“Well, I wouldn’t blame them,” Arthur said in response. “Even I didn’t expect gods to actually be real before I died.”
After conversing with Sisa a bit more, Arthur focused his attention back to the insides of the house, seeing that the couple were talking about what they did for the day. Naturally, Jian talked about how the pile of Inferior Spirit Slag near their house was actually a sacred place for the God of Spirit Slag. Hearing his words, it was no surprise that Qin did not believe it. After all, she had not seen what Jian had seen. Though, for some reason, Jian was certain that she would also come to believe him, as long as she came with him the following day.

With Qin agreeing to Jian’s words, the two of them ate dinner after that before going to bed. At this point, Arthur had now activated [Qi Conversion], pacing himself to only do one conversion every hour. As to why he was doing this, he was allowing the system to slowly fill up his storage while converting, while also being able to look at the outside world through [Spirit Sense]. As for the other reason, he was amassing enough Inferior Spirit Slag in exchange for System Points, wanting to upgrade Qi Purity to Tier 1.
After that, he would only start converting qi into Spirit Slag.
And so, over half a day had passed by, with the sun appearing beyond the horizon as Arthur’s conversion for the hour had just finished. At the moment, around 1.5 kilograms of Inferior Spirit Slag had been accumulated in front of the bluish-white cube, waiting to be exchanged at a moment’s notice.
As for his qi capacity, it was now at 15/40, which still wasn’t anywhere close to being full, but was enough for him to at least try out [Infusion] once the couple had arrived near the pile of Inferior Spirit Slag. ‘No, wait. If I remember correctly, the skill is actually [Spirit Aura: Infusion].’
Small corrections aside, by the time Arthur had regenerated another 3 points of qi, the couple had finally gotten out of the house as they had just finished their breakfast, slowly making their way to where the pile of Inferior Spirit Slag was.
“I’m telling you, Qin. Yesterday night, I asked if the God of Spirit Slag was listening to me and they responded by adding a bit of Spirit Slag onto the pile,” Jian told his wife, adamant that he was not lying to her.
“Whatever you say, Jian,” Qin said in response, still doubtful as to whether her husband’s words were true.
Nevertheless, the two of them still arrived in front of the pile as Jian said with a great aura of faith surrounding him, “Oh, great God of Spirit Slag! If you are listening to us right now, please heed my request of adding more Spirit Slag onto this pile in front of us!”
Whoosh!
In response, a kilogram of Inferior Spirit Slag appeared on top of the already large pile, prompting Qin to widen her eyes in surprise as Jian vigorously nodded in agreement with his wife’s reaction. “Yes, that’s what I also felt when I first experienced the god’s abilities. I call it… shock!”
Of course, in reality, Arthur was just exchanging Inferior Spirit Slag for System Points. In fact, he still left half a kilogram in his mind, lest Qin wanted to try calling out for him herself.
And surprisingly, she actually did.
“Although it’s quite presumptuous for me to be selfish in front of a god, I beseech the God of Spirit Slag to be kind and add more Spirit Slag onto this pile in front of us if you’re still listening!” Qin said with a hint of fear, yet at the same time, a hint of religiousness.
Naturally, Arthur obliged.
Whoosh!
With that, half a kilogram of Inferior Spirit Slag was added to the pile, prompting Qin to kneel down the ground, with her husband following suit soon after. As to what they did next, they actually started praying to the God of Spirit Slag, believing that this god was looking over them.
Seeing what had transpired thanks to a few actions of his, Arthur could not help but chuckle as he thought, ‘They’re going to be in for a shock of a lifetime once they find out that the God of Spirit Slag can do more.’
“[Spirit Analysis],” he commanded, targeting the skill towards Jian. After all, he was the first one to have acknowledged his existence.
Ding!
[Xu Zhoujian]
[Race]: Human
[Cultivation]: Essence Gathering Realm, 4th Stage (36%)
“I guess that’s why the system only gave me knowledge regarding the first three realms,” he said soon after. “It knew that I wouldn’t have use for knowledge beyond it.”
After that, he identified Qin beside him, slightly surprised as her cultivation was actually a bit higher than her husband’s.
Ding!
[Huang Qingqin]
[Race]: Human
[Cultivation]: Essence Gathering Realm, 6th Stage (10%)
With Qi Purity having 10 grades spanning from Grade 0 to Grade 9, it made sense to Arthur that the cultivation in this world would also span 10 stages for every cultivation realm. Though, unlike Arthur’s Qi Purity, the cultivation realms went from the 1st Stage to the Peak Stage, with the 9th Stage being the stage before the Peak Stage.
“Well, moving that aside, I should try the skill out,” he said before commanding with a hint of excitement.
“[Spirit Aura: Infusion]!”
Whoosh!
“Oh?!”

Sarsaparilla's Scary Super Power. Completed
Sarsaparilla is an older teenage girl living on Mars. And, like many other young people around her, she has a super power. Or, rather, she is supposed to have a super power. Only she has never been able to activate it, she doesn’t even know what her super power is. This annoys her, tremendously. But she hides this behind a really sweet smile. Adalace is another teenage girl, also on Mars. She knows what her own super power is, and it is quite a good one. She is also really cute… so long has she keeps her feelings under control and doesn’t let out anything from her dark past. Teylon is a man, currently living on Earth. He likes to think of himself as still young, even if he is over fifty. He’s a bit smug about his successful career and is thinking of retiring… until a sadly unfortunate event leads him to the conclusion that he had better immigrate to Mars. Immediately. Apparently, meeting one’s own Angel of Death tends to cause people to make profound changes to their lives… Mars society had better brace itself, because once these three people, plus another three also not so quite stable individuals, collide with each other, the resulting explosion is not going to leave anyone on Mars unaffected. This is another Esmeralda, the Angel of Death, story. It follows on from my previous two such stories, but it is in no way dependent on the previous stories. They can be read in any order. It is fully written and proof read (using Word for Windows, no real editor touched this transcript) and comes to about 247,000 words (about 895 Royal Road pages). It is organized into 50 chapters and I will be publishing them roughly one per day. In my writing, there are multiple characters and multiple points of view. Each change in a point of view is introduced by a header, giving the viewpoint character’s name first, and possibly a title. Inside a Point of View section, dialog in italics represents the Point of View character’s thoughts, while dialog between quotes represent normal spoken dialog. This story is very much inspired by the anime A Certain Scientific Railgun. However I have only taken some elements from the anime, and changed everything I took to make my own story, and so it does not count as fanfiction. Yeah, I know, the book cover page isn’t very good. It’s the best I could do, by tracing over a stock image. The two ladies shown are supposed to be Adalace and Sarsaparilla. Ideally I would have liked there to be two images of this pair, one where they are smiling sweetly and looking cute, and one where they are looking really angry and dangerous. But that totally exceeds my graphics abilities. You will just have to imagine it.

Return of Chaos
For the longest time, it was thought that the citizens of Earth were the only denizens of the galaxy incapable of developing superhuman abilities — but recent events have flipped that assumption on its head. Between Austin Travis, Mote Emerson, Pierce Bradley, and their friends, Earth is now host to 12 Chaotics… as well as a myriad of mysteries surrounding them. From a new nemesis in the form of a clone, to connections to ancient technology from a long-lost civilization, to the ability to summon powerful legendary weapons, these 12 Chaotics have unknowingly become entangled in something larger than any of them have ever imagined. As if in response to these discoveries, the sinister machinations of galactic evil are churning. The metallic infection, a calamitous nanotechnology “disease” thought to have been vanquished 20 years ago, is slowly returning — and alongside it, a number of conflicts thought to be long past. While they only seek to better grasp their own abilities, Earth’s Chaotics will soon find themselves in the crossfire of returning threats and old heroes. These superpowered Earthians may not have chosen this path through life, but it will still be up to them to determine if history remembers them — to determine if history remembers the saga of the Keys. Return of Chaos is a direct sequel to Chosen Chaos, which begins the Key Saga novel series. Be sure to read Chosen Chaos first, to understand the plot and the characters thus far! Additionally, the Key Saga as a whole takes place 20 years after Rise. You will not need to read Rise to understand the events of Return of Chaos, however the latter will spoil many of the events that occurred in Rise, due to the simple chronology of taking place later in the timeline.
