《A Spirit Vein's Guide to Immortality》V1C40: Moving In

After a bit of an awkward silence between the two, Arthur went ahead and allowed [Qi Conversion] to do its thing, which was to automatically convert one point of his qi into Spirit Slag. As to when he would start producing Superior Spirit Slag instead of Spirit Slag, he had a feeling that it’ll be quite a while until then.
After all, even though 100 grams of Superior Spirit Slag could be converted into 1000 System Points, he could only produce 10 grams of the stuff every hour. With that, his yield was equal to 100 System Points per hour if he went ahead and started converting qi into Superior Spirit Slag right now.
On the other hand, with [Qi Conversion] at Level 21 and Qi Purity at Tier 2, Grade 0, if he continued to convert his qi into Spirit Slag, his yield was 720 System Points per hour, a 7.2x increase when compared to converting qi into Superior Spirit Slag. In fact, the same argument would still stand even if he upgraded Qi Purity to the peak of Tier 2.
Sure, at the peak of Tier 2 Qi Purity, he would be able to produce 100 grams of Superior Spirit Slag every hour, thus making his yield 1000 System Points per hour. However, at the same level of Qi Purity, he would be able to produce 300 grams of Spirit Slag per conversion, with [Qi Conversion Lv. 21] allowing him to do six conversions an hour. Although the difference between the two was not as drastic as before, it still constituted a 1.8x increase in point yield.
‘Speaking of Qi Purity…’ As he thought about why it was better for him to stick to Spirit Slag for now, he could not help but remember that he still had a few thousand System Points still waiting to be spent on various things. To be more exact, he still had 2585 System Points.
With that in mind, he went ahead and spent the remaining System Points on Qi Purity, only getting it to Tier 2, Grade 1 as he was 15 points short to buy the upgrade to the next grade. Fortunately, with the conversion time of Spirit Slag only taking 10 minutes, he did not have to wait for long to be able to buy the next upgrade, upgrading his Qi Purity to Tier 2, Grade 2.
Ding!
[Qi Purity] has been upgraded to Tier 2, Grade 2.
[Qi Conversion] now yields 390 grams of Inferior Spirit Slag.
[Qi Conversion] now yields 160 grams of Spirit Slag.
[Qi Conversion] now yields 30 grams of Spirit Slag.

[Spirit Sense] can now create a basic sensory field spanning 2.95 kilometers, lasting for 4 hours and 15 minutes before disappearing.
[Spirit Aura] now boosts qi density by 69%.
The limit of [Spirit Analysis] has been increased to the 3rd Stage of the Stellar Foundation Realm.
“Nice,” Arthur could not help but say as he looked at the qi density boost given by [Spirit Aura]. After that, he looked at the range and duration of [Spirit Sense], only noticing now that each upgrade to Qi Purity now boosted [Spirit Sense] by 150 meters and 15 minutes in range and duration respectively.
As he thought about this, he could not help but wonder if he should upgrade his skills, especially [Spirit Aura] as he remembered that he had a quest where he had to help someone break through to a higher realm. Then again, Arthur knew very well that he was just looking for a good excuse to upgrade [Spirit Sense].
“With my current Qi Purity, I could probably help both Jian and Qin reach the Essence Condensing Realm with a couple uses of [Spirit Aura: Infusion],” Arthur muttered to himself, thinking about the amount of qi he’d be able to infuse in them, wondering if their bodies could even handle it.
Although he had found out from the various pieces of knowledge he had bought from the Knowledge Module that cultivators at the Essence Gathering Realm could absorb a lot of energy, he was still a bit apprehensive to use it on Jian and Qin, recalling how those group of five had experienced Qi Overflow back then.
“Ah, whatever. I’ll just infuse a point of qi into their bodies with the skill and adjust from there,” he said to himself, trying to forget the bloody incident over a day ago.
“For now, it’s time for my skills to get up to speed… yeah, I’m totally trying to justify this,” he said to himself, lightly chuckling as this time around, he did not forget to ask Sisa if she wanted to talk with him.
And unsurprisingly, she did.
…
A couple of days had passed since Jian and Qin had found out that people from the Xu clan had schemed to hinder their plans. Thanks to the knowledge they’ve accrued during the past two years they traveled the world after leaving their respective clans, they knew very well that evidence was key when trying to prove something.
Of course, even after a couple of days had passed, they still did not know the answer as to who or what helped them while they were asleep, attacking those from the Xu clan that dared to hinder them. In the end, as the being that helped them out did not want to reveal themselves to the two, both Jian and Qin decided to chalk it up as the benevolence of the God of Spirit Slag, thanking the god in their morning prayer for protecting them while they were asleep.

About half an hour after they were done with their morning prayer, just as they were about to do their daily chores, a familiar silhouette gradually headed closer to the couple’s house, prompting the two to stop what they were doing and look at the silhouette. Though, once they realized who that silhouette was, the two of them immediately dropped the things they held as they made their way to the person that came to their humble abode.
“Lady Guang, you’re finally here!” Qin could not help but say with great glee as she let out a sigh of relief. In fact, an expression of relief could be seen on Jian’s face as he sported a somewhat relaxed smile.
“Well, you did tell me that the matter was urgent. How could I not come here as soon as I can?” said Lady Guang in response with a chuckle.
Surprisingly, after they had collected all of the cloth bags from the Xu clan, the scattered blood on the ground, as well as the contaminated parts from the pile of Spirit Slag, they went ahead and contacted Lady Guang to come to their place as soon as possible. Naturally, while collecting the evidence, they made sure not to leave any fingerprints of their own on it.
“So, what did you need me here for?” Lady Guang asked soon after, only for her eyes to fixate not long after at the huge pile of high-grade Spirit Slag near where they were.
Pointing at it, she then asked the two, “Is this the reason why you asked me to come here as soon as possible? To sell off the high-grade Spirit Slag?”
Hearing that, Jian and Qin could not help but look at each other for a bit, wryly smiling before looking back at Guang Zhenqiang. Scratching his head, Jian replied, “To be honest, the thought did not even occur to me. But now that you mention it, it would be great if you do sell the pile of high-grade Spirit Slag once you get back.”
“However, the reason why we called you here, although related to the pile of Spirit Slag, is different,” he added.
After that, Jian and Qin made their way to their house, with Qin motioning for Lady Guang to follow them. Of course, clueless as to the reason why she was called, Lady Guang did not mind following the two of them as the three of them quickly entered the house.
Prompting Lady Guang to sit in the living room as Qin gave her something to drink, Jian went to another part of the house, eventually appearing in front of the two a few minutes later as he carried a small sack.
“What’s inside the sack?” Zhenqiang could not help but ask as Jian laid the sack on the table in front of the former. In response to the question, Jian went ahead and unfurled the knot that sealed the sack, revealing the contents inside it to Lady Guang, much to her shock.
Unsurprisingly, inside the sack were the pieces of evidence the couple had collected. The cloth bags those from the Xu clan used to store the Spirit Slag they scooped up, the blood they spilled on the ground, which had been stored in small bottles, and a small pile of Spirit Slag contaminated with the blood of those from the Xu clan.
As multiple alarms rang off in her mind, making Guang Zhenqiang wonder whether the two had committed murder or something of the sort and was confessing to them, those alarms quickly subsided as an expression of anger appeared on Jian’s face as he said, “This is the reason why we asked you to come here. Those bastards from the Xu clan decided they couldn’t hold it anymore and made the first move.”
“Xu clan…” Lady Guang murmured, only for her to connect the dots as she asked him, “Your brother?”
With Jian responding to her question with a grim nod, Guang Zhenqiang could not help but let out a sigh as she muttered, “As I expected. Those two back then did not come here to aid you two in your endeavor.”
“Eh? What do you mean by that, Lady Guang?” Qin could not help but ask in response.
“It’ll take quite a while for me to explain all of it, but let me first suggest to you two something that I’ve thought about for the past few days,” Guang Zhenqiang said in response, to which Qin replied, “We’re all ears.”
“With the various hypotheses in the past I’ve made seemingly becoming true, I fear that something dangerous might happen to you two in the future. With that in mind, what if…”
“I moved in with you two?”
“…”
“…eh?”

The Voice of the World
Jason Elric used to be an ordinary college student living in the heart of San Francisco. He had a part time job, he played online games with friends he got along moderately well with, and he earned reasonably good grades. The worst he really had to worry about in life was turning in his coursework on time and not being late to class. Now, though? Now fighting for his life and running from a horde of giant frogs that want to make him their next meal is just another Tuesday. Thanks to a summoning ritual gone terribly right, Jason has found himself trapped in a world eerily similar to the role playing games games he used to play for fun. Unfortunately for the now ex-college student, everything happening around him is terrifyingly real and if he wants to survive, he’ll have to figure out how to exploit the system for his benefit before it’s too late. The Voice of the World is the first part of what is planned to be a multi-book, Isekai LitRPG story with crafting elements, set in the fantasy world known as Verdania. This is my first time posting online for public consumption, so bear with me as I work to find a style that people like. While I may occasionally write scenes that may deal with heavy concepts, expect this story to be primarily light hearted high fantasy. There will be a lot of common fantasy tropes involved, as this story got its start as a simple practice exercise, rather than any plan to actually post it. However, it’s grown on me, so I felt it’s worth sharing after all. Thus, if you’re looking for more serious/original/unusual stories, you might want to look elsewhere. For the rest of you, feel free to leave suggestions, as well as to point out grammar and spelling mistakes; I’ll do my best to make edits to correct them. I do my own editing currently, and it’s easy to miss things when you know what’s supposed to be there, so such call outs are highly encouraged. Content TLDR: No harems, probably no romance (unless it makes sense for the story later on) (it did, eventually), definitely no sex (keeping this PG-13 or close to it), limited profanity. Does/Will contain mixes of magic and technology (think Warhammer, Final Fantasy); copious amounts of blue tables; race, gender, and sexual equality concepts; crafting sequences; and (slightly, but not overbearingly) strong protagonists. If you don’t like these things, go elsewhere instead of downvoting people for content instead of writing quality. Update Time currently varies, due to personal injury, but the goal is 1/week on Wednesdays, with a possible smaller chapter on weekends if time/health permits.
