《Celestial Magus》Chapter 30 : Troublemaker

A few days had passed after Robert became the Lord of Greyston.
Robert rode his horse slowly through outskirts of the Greyston. He had dressed up in normal linen clothing and was riding towards the mines that supplied ores to the Greyston town. He wanted to see how these mines operate, and if possible, increase the production of these mines.
Reaching a mine that seemed to be an iron mine, Robert was amazed by the workflow and how the ore was taken up from the depth of mine and then transported. There were a few oxen, pulling a log, which had a large rope attached to it. The rope was going into the depths of the mine. And as the oxen moved forward, the rope was pulled up from the mine, there were some hooks on the rope which was connected to the log. After the oxen reached the end of the field, the hook was attached to an anchor and the oxen were moved back to the initial position to connect to another hook.
Seeing this, Robert nodded in appreciation. The man who designed this was very good. Robert had the thoughts of introducing steam engine to the world, but after seeing this efficient mechanism, he thought that even if he belated the invention of steam engine, it wouldn’t do any harm to the efficiency of production.
But soon, seeing some men walk out of the mine in dirty clothes and pickaxe in their back, Robert got an idea of what they needed the most.
A jackhammer! Having a steam-powered jackhammer could drastically improve the production compared to these men digging up ores with a pickaxe. And the good thing about creating a jackhammer was that he didn’t need to convert the up and down motion of the piston in a piston to rotational motion. He could directly use the linear motion to power the jackhammer.

But the problem was maneuvering the jackhammer, his idea required either a flexible hose to carry the steam or movable boiler. Robert immediately disposed of the second idea, putting in a boiler inside the mine was a bad idea. He was not sure if there were any inflammable gases inside. And flame might suck up all the oxygen, suffocating the workers.
Wait, inflammable gases! Robert got an idea! He could make an internal combustion engine if he had coal gas or any other inflammable gas. What he lacked was a lathe! Robert decided to work on one soon after he reached his home.
Unknown to Robert who was thinking of a way to increase production of the mine, a trouble had arrived on the town of Greyston.
Riding back into the town, Robert noticed something was off. The guards that were in the back gates of the town was looking furious, their cheeks looked red like they were slapped.
Did these guys get into a fight? Robert had high regards of these men as they performed extraordinarily in the battle of Goldfair.
“What happen?” Robert asked them.
“Lo- Lord must seek justice for us.”, the men were on the verge of tears.
These men were not the kind who will stand still and get slapped. They were either overpowered or outranked.
Getting overpowered? Robert didn’t think so. These guys, although were mere guards, put their heart in this job, and wouldn’t go down without a fight against enemies. So this was not done by enemies, but by friends? Who would go around slapping guards?
Robert decided to hear them out.
Hearing the guards explained how the army from the capital arrived at the city gates and laughed at these guards for carrying something like metal rod instead of a sword. And the Black Dragon clan’s Hristo slapped them for losing his face among his peers.

Who the hell is this guy Hristo? And who does he think he is to come into my town and slap my guards?
Robert was furious, he stormed off into the town, looking for this guy Hristo. Robert didn’t care who he was, Robert had always thought of Black Dragon clan as friends and now someone from there just made his guards look like idiots.
Walking into the town, what he saw was a path of destruction leading to the Black Dragon store in the center of the town. Many people, recognizing Robert, plead to him saying words similar to the guards.
“Lord, those hooligans broke all my wares because I didn’t display a black dragon flag...”
“They destroyed the precious sculpture that took me a week to create, please help us, Lord...”
A young girl was sitting in the middle of the street, her cheeks red, tears flowing from her eyes.
She held her head down, and there was a pool of tears beneath it.
A man was near her, trying to calm her down, many people were around her.
“What happen?” Robert repeated the same question he had asked numerous times now.
Seeing the crying girl, he was really angered. If this too was done by that guy Hristo, there was no way he’s getting away with it. It doesn’t matter if he is from the black dragon clan or even a black dragon himself. Thinking he can do anything to anyone, this guy needs to be taught a lesson.
The man beside her explained how the man called Hristo tried to take her with him to the Black Dragon store to ‘relieve his urges’ and when she resisted, tried to drag her with him. It was only because the heir of another large clan came through that way at that time that Hristo let her off.
This guy! What is he a tornado? Leaving behind a trail of trouble. Who the hell does he think he is?
And even trying to rape a girl and not being secretive about it? Robert had a feeling that this guy was certainly not simple. His status, if Robert had to guess, would be no less than that of Sophy in the black dragon clan.
Robert rode off quickly towards the Black Dragon store.

Queen of the Hill
Howdy there, partner. I'm so glad you've stumbled upon this story of mine. It's a bit of an experiment I've always wanted to try: writing a female protagonist people would enjoy reading. Of course, my amazing writing skills and epic prose won't be enough to convince you, so I've composed a list that'll prove just how much you'll love Daphne: 1. She has that good ol' Southern hospitality 2. She knows a lot of Southern Slang 3. SHE'S A MOTHER TRUCKIN' DRAGON I dunno about you, but I'd like to read a story where a young, Southern woman gets reincarnated as a hill dragon and has to fight vicious fairies, handsome dwarves, and plants that make you sneeze assisted by only her wits and a very passive-aggressive system that sends her weird emoticons. But hey. That's just me. Give it a chance! Tarnation Station is coming and there's absolutely nothing you can do to stop it! So why don't you hop on and enjoy the ride?
