《Chronicles of Sora: Ruler of Rules》Chapter 29.3 - Drenched in slime

“Sora-kun, now you have a problem….” Valentine whispered into Sora’s ear as the Cardinal climbed up the slippery slime. Her voice was so close to his ear that it tickled.
“I had a problem when I lost control of my own body.” Sora grunted as he monitored the situation from the sky. It was entertaining in the beginning but seeing the trail of destruction he was leaving behind bothered Sora. What if the purpose of the game was to unite the world? Something like Royal Road? Surely this would not work in his favour. Killing innocent and destroying property like a monster was never the objective of a game…
“Why don’t you use your true powers Sora...” Valentine suggested as a ghost version of her appeared floating beside Sora. “Using that you can quickly regain control of your body and even take care of the others…no you could wipe away all those who obstruct you…”
“I have no idea what you are talking about…” Sora brushed her off.
“Don’t be like that Sora….I saw what you have….I know everything about Sora….” Valentine gleefully countered as she floated around Sora. “You used it to suppress me nyaaa…you know what I am talking about nyyaaa…”
‘Did she just go nyaaa? Cat Vampiress?’ Sora looked at Valentine with disgust while she displayed all ecstatic expressions. ‘Crazy woman talking gibberish.’

The Norito soldiers stopped their attacks the moment they spotted the Cardinal on top of the slime. The Commanders of the Norito forces were flustered since their attempt to prove themselves as worth as the Erito was now gone.
The Cardinal rolled up his sleeves and the curled up his fingers. He first pounded the top base of the slime. The punch was pin pointed attack which drove damage all the way to the core of the slime’s body. Unlike the Norito’s attacks which only damaged the surface of the slime, the Cardinal’s punch rattled the very core of slime.
The slime which had not yet taken notice of the Cardinal suddenly started violently jerking and swaying to throw the Cardinal off it. The punch the Cardinal used was to grab the slimes attention.

No matter how much the slime twirled and swirled, the Cardinal did not fall. It were as if a professional rodeo was riding a bull. The Cardinal had the most frightening sense of balance and perfect ki flow that enabled him not to fall off.
After he attacked the head, he slip down along the slime’s body attacking its back….well this slime’s eyes was not visible to the soldiers but the Cardinal spotted the tiny eye like flies and the Cyclops eye hidden within…he simply rushed to the opposite side away from the eyes views and began punching the slime from the back.
In the blink of an eye, a quarter of the slime had had been splattered across the streets of Feladonia. Before the slime could regroup itself the Norito and the Erito were quick to destroy the removed slime.
Slime shield only worked when the slime was attached to the majority of the body. If slime was splattered like it was with the Cardinal’s attack, not only did the shield value go down (in effect meaning it was damaged) but also the splattered bits had no protection.
Just when the eyes of the monster caught up to the Cardinal, the Cardinal decided to move. It seemed like the slime was using its eyes to launch attacks. As long as the Cardinal kept away from its line of sight he was like an invisible enemy wilting away the slime. However, the Cardinal made a tiny mistake, the slime did not rely only on its eyes. It also relied on other senses like smell. Tiny tentacles grabbed the Cardinal’s foot and larger tentacles suddenly protruded out in front of the Cardinal; rushing to attack him.
“Ugh, too careless.” The Cardinal was a bit frustrated, thinking that his awareness had deteriorated because of the alcohol. But in actuality, it’s not really his fault. The Cardinal had been intoxicated by Sora when he was punching Sora around. At the time, although Sora had dispersed much of the poisonous gas from within him, there were still tiny trace amounts remaining within him. By punching Sora around barehanded, the Cardinal was unknowingly poisoning himself. Ofcourse such tiny amounts of poison would not affect the Cardinal. However, Sora Slime had been attacking inns and pubs in search for water or any form of it. Sora Slime was already three warehouses (of ale) down an equivalent of downing 3000 barrels of ale. The effect being, Sora Slime was leaking of the most intoxicatingly pleasing gases of a drunkard which affected all those who smelt it; inducing the person close to Sora Slime (the inhaler) into a semi-drunken state in an instant.

The Cardinal was strong…but 3000 barrels of fermented ale plus tiny amounts of poison…yes his senses had deteriorated but that was not going to stop him. The Cardinal punched the incoming attack of slime tentacles. First the slime sent one or two tentacles to attack but the Cardinal easily shattered those. Then the slime sent hundreds but that did not matter to the Cardinal. The Cardinal was faster than the slime by leagues and leagues. Furthermore, the Cardinal’s STR and DEF were much higher than the giant slime even after all the buffs it had received. Even if the Cardinal took one or two hits they barely did any damage to him.
Realizing that attacking with tentacles was pointless, the slime reverted back to plan A, throw the Cardinal off. Although the slime was intelligent, there was a limit to its intelligence. It had two plans to deal with the Cardinal, throw off or kill. Since it can’t kill, it reverted back to throw off. The slime could not think beyond that. The Sora Slime knew that what’s on its back could not fly, and it would fall to its death if thrown with enough force….or so it hopes.
The Sora Slime began a violent dance. It jerked forward and backwards, upwards and downwards, it even swayed in circles really really quickly….At this time, more and more soldiers (and normal residents) simply gathered to watch.
“The Cardinal… is he going to be okay?” Ramona asked as she approached Vanessa.
All they could see was a tofu with a red top (the Cardinal) doing figure eights.
“Yeah he will be fine even without us. We should resume our search for the adventurer…” Vannesa said casually and with no concern for the Cardinal. Vanessa knew the Cardinal well enough, although the Cardinal did not use magic, he was more than proficient in using ki (interestingly he did not believe that ki users were worthy of being admitted as Erito forces). A giant slime or an army of trolls were no big deal for the Cardinal.
Though judging by the circumstance, it does not bode well….the Cardinal looked like he would throw up. The situation with the Cardinal wasn’t great. In order to not fall off, he had to hold tightly onto the slime. But the slime’s skin was extremely slippery and, before long, the Cardinal was sweating himself, adding to the slipperiness of his circumstances. He could have simply let go and climbed up again but the Cardinal wasn’t going to give up; the Cardinal was in Rodeo mode and his pride decided he could not let his students see him fall….there would be bad jokes about this later on.
The Cardinal did what he did best; beat the living crap out of his enemies. Using a single hand he held on to the slime and with his free hand he began repeatedly punching the slime. Long last, the slime roared in pain, it’s shield was finally depleted. It took eight punches from the Cardinal to deplete it’s immunity against physical damage.
In that instant, the body of the slime exploded. The Berserker mode had been forcefully deactivated and durability and flexibility stats fell. With the sudden fall in these stats but slime content now higher than holding capacity, the Sora slime burst. The Cardinal pushed against the collapsing slime skin with his hand to move himself to safety.
Nobody had the reaction speed of the Cardinal, hence all those who watched were covered in sticky gooey slime.
Sora who watched from above was now regretting that he wasn’t in control of his slime like body…the women soldiers were completely drenched in slime….in other words completely drenched with Sora.
However, Sora’s happiness was short lived when Valentine added that there were more men than women who were drenched in slime.

Midthalion Saga
+++Working on new chapters. Share what I've posted with your friends and family! Be sure to build strong bonds with those who are important to you. We only have each other in this world for so long!+++ Can Roderick XXIII gather together and train a party of adventurers to clear out Madeon Caves and bring peace to the wildmarches of Midthalion? Sent from his home monastery in the west to the wildmarches of Midthalion, Roderick the Holy Avenger is devoted to living out his oath to bring the Holy Light to the dark corners of the world. He enlists the help of an old friend, Ulrich Vogelbrandt the dwarf druid, to train and prepare a fighting force capable of defending the west from the evil they both see gathering and growing in the east. Eoroth is an ode to Tolkienesque epic fantasy, Robert E Howard and H.P. Lovecraft's pulp fiction, and Gygaxian Dungeons & Dragons. I like to write about serious topics because I think it's fun. I hope it makes for a fun read. Place: Eoroth, a vast, flat world with many continents set in oceans that reach out and mingle with the Celestial Sea. Our story takes place on the continent of Thalion in the middle, unsettled region called Midthalion. Peoples: Races in Eoroth aren't different species; the species of man is just incredibly diverse, consisting of many known races (and perhaps some unknown). There are no humans in Thalion. Thalion's races include variations of elves, dwarves, halflings (billowits), pierros (clownish men), bergeracs (long-nosed and swarthy men of honour), orcs, trolls, goblins, and hobgobs. The Church: There's one dominant religion in Westhalion. The faith of the elves is an analogue to Roman Catholicism while the dwarves practice an Eastern Orthodox analogue. (Forgive me for not having figured out names yet.) The practitioners worship a triune god (the All-Father, Son-of-All, and Holy Light). There are many powers in heaven, all created by God. These include the Twelve High Thrones, individual, created beings who take on the role of guiding mankind in different aspects, drawing them closer and closer to God. (That should be the essentials. I could write pages on the theology. Comment where something's unclear in the story.) Natural World: There are plants and animals in Eoroth, but the world is also inhabited by spirits called aeons. Aeons are transformative beings; in the wild, they'll change based on whatever is happening nearby. Pollute a pond? Expect to see toxic toad-men running around. Leave a bunch of dead bodies strewn across a battlefield? Expect the place to become haunted with ghouls and ghasts. Druids are important for making sure that the aeons are pacified; that their needs are met so that they don't become rampaging monsters. Where the wilderness becomes overgrown, so too do the aeons. Aeons and People: Long ago, men learned how to trap aeons in stone tablets and use them for war. Now, anyone can capture an aeon into a special staff made by a druid. Men train, raise, and bond with these aeons. Druids often build entire ranches devoted to raising healthy aeons as allies and companions. Aeons are divided into twelve known families, and the church sees these as corresponding with the Twelve Thrones in Heaven. Direction: My goal is to get the story to one million words by June next year. I have tons of content in mind for the world. I want to release novels set in different ages of the world depicting different historical events. I hope to expand the setting into a tabletop role-playing game as well as a series of old-school JRPGs. But, it all begins with writing some stories and publishing my novels.
