《Chronicles of Sora: Ruler of Rules》Chapter 34.3 - Introspection: Stalsbourg (Part 5)

Seeing no response the Death God continued, “I hereby sentence…”
“Sire!” The Chancellor interrupted.
“Yes? What is it?” The Death God asked impatiently.
“There is one more matter, which she is answerable for…”
“And that would be?” The Death God looked like he would kill the chancellor for simply existing.
“The decimation for the Norito forces…” A tiny voice came out of the Chancellor.
The Death God let out a breath of air and spoke, “Then, before I pronounce your sentence, would you also kindly explain whatever it is the Chancellor cares about…though honestly I believe asking her is of no consequence…”
The Chancellor turned to look at the Death God; did the last sentence mean he should not ask her? Or was it just his opinion?”
“Oh for heaven’s sake just ask already and get on with it!” The young man irritably cried out as he rested his chin on his fist and let out a sigh.
“Lastly, could you please explain to me why were the Erito forces and Norito forces fighting one another?” The Chancellor was barely audible. His voice conveyed his fright.
Vanessa then quickly recollected the events which occurred after the battle with the slime. It goes without saying she excluded and omitted many details, changing some of the story to portray herself as the defenceless victim and Stalsbourg as the villain. Of course as always, the memory of the nobles is a short one, they soon forgot of their fright and hatred for the Death God and claimed Vanessa was lying. There was no way the House of Goliath would start a fight no less injure a fellow colleague.
Somewhere unnoticed in the room the Death God and King of Feladonia let out a sigh. There were so many more important details to focus on but the noblemen and noblewomen always focused on the most trivial and unimportant of things.

When it finally seemed that there would be no end to the debate (the topic had from Vanessa the sly snake to to Alfen vs Goliath), the Chancellor -for the sake of his life called Stalbourg Goliath to the stand.
The proud warrior and commander of the Norito walked up to the stand. Unlike Vanessa he was not wearing his roman armoured plates etc. He was draped in roman green robes for the summoning. He waved out to the council members as he approached the stands – he knew everyone present given the fact he was member to the Council.
“Stalbourg Goliath, do you know why you have been summoned here today?”
“Yes, Chancellor Kumo. It would be foolish not to know.” His smile shined white as he spoke those words. He would remind readers of a typical cocky jerk that you really want to beat the pulp out of.
“Do you dispute, Vanessa Alfen’s account?”
“Rather than dispute, I would like to add details to it and leave the judging of the story to the noble council.” Answered like a purebred noble – confusing and filled with flattery.
“Proceed.” The Chancellor said with a smile.
“Irrelevant and dismissed!” The Death God spoke out impatiently. It seemed eminent that the Death God would blow a vein or two any moment. The Death God hated – absolutely hated fruitless discussions and he completely hated gibberish futile discussions. Feladonia had just undergone a massive attack from the Alliance and the nobles here were wasting everyone’s time with their petty squabbles.
Stalsbourg face convoluted in horror as he looked at the Death God. If Vanessa was the only one who got to speak then he would be unable to get his version of the story out. This was not part of his plan. He completely meant to dispute her story!...even if it meant he had to lie. In the eyes of the council his words were perfect but a poor choice for the Death God. Compared to him, Vanessa fared much better since she had the sensibility to main her composure and give straight replies.

“If you aren’t going to dispute her story, then all other details are irrelevant. I don’t care about your paltry political disputes but the question was did you attack the commander of the Erito forces? Yes or a No?”
“Y…Yes…yes…” Stalsbourg stuttered under the immense pressure released by the Death God.
“Then that settles it, you are dismissed of your position!”
“Bu…But!! I didn’t mean to!!” Stalsbourg whined like a child – his behaviour was appalling it reminded of the nobles of their young children at home throwing a tantrum.
“….” The killing intent in the room went up a notch and the temperature one notch down.
“My hand moved on its own!” Stalsbourg was nearly in tears. “I was only going to shake her hands!....I don’t know why my hand punched her…she is a witch! She made me punch her!”
Like a desperate man clinging on to anything to save himself.
The Death God’s mouth was in the shape of an ‘O’ and his right brow was raised like ‘~’. Was this the level of the commander of the Norito in Feladonia? Whatever happened to the word standards?
The commander of the army was crying and whining like a child.
The Death God raised his hand; his open palm was facing Stalsbourg.
“Just die…”
