《Chronicles of Sora: Ruler of Rules》Chapter 45.1 - 7 Circles: Empress Magic (Part 1)

“Sora. SoraChan – your bloodline’s greatest nemesis.” The skeleton said.
Toketsu was startled when he heard the last bit but right now he didn’t care – he had to escape! Toketsu dashed with all his might towards the inner sanctum of the fifth floor. If there are more monsters as witness, would this monster still dare to kill him?
With two leaps Toketsu was flying through the air at atrocious speeds – breaking his personal best record. In three seconds, he reached the center of the inner sanctum of the fifth floor. This was previously, the place where Sora ran away from when being chased by the healer.
Many monsters could see a blur streaking through the air above them. They all recognized it immediately, Toketsu – the vampire and mini boss of the fifth floor. Since, he was moving so fast none of them could see his panicked / frightened expression. It was only when he stopped flying that they could sense something was not right.
Toketsu was drenched in sweat. Many could not believe this was Toketsu because in their memories he gave off a very fearsome aura. Some monsters had difficulty believe this was Toketsu and assumed it was a shape shifter. Whatever the case maybe, the vampire flying above them appeared visibly terrified of something.
“Haha!” Toketsu laughed as he realized he had created a gap of more than five hundred meters between himself and the skeleton. However, he soon stopped when he noticed Sora calmly flying towards him – in no hurry. As if the skeleton knew that there was nowhere else left for the Vampire to go.
That was indeed the case. Where else could Toketsu run off to?
“Hear me! This one seeks to kill me!” Toketsu shouted out. It would appear as though he was speaking out to the monsters below, however, Toketsu was shouting out to someone else.

The monsters looked up at Toketsu. Even the ones who were not curious about why Toketsu was hurrying overhead now turned to see what drama was unfolding above them. In the distance, they could see a flying skeleton – slowly approaching Toketsu. Since, none of them recognized the monster – they could only assume it a skeleton of a lower floor. But which floor could it possibly belong to – after all it had a 25th floor vampire scuttling for safety.
“Save me!” Toketsu cried out hurriedly. The panic and fear in his voice was evident.
But who would save him? All the monsters below were far inferior to Toketsu. Naturally, everyone was curious hearing someone begging for safety. Now the monsters, which were residing in the spires came out to see what was all the commotion. Ai and the goblin doctor could be seeing exiting from the infirmary as well.
The goblin healer did not recognize Sora but Ai immediately recognized him. She didn’t understand how Sora gained wings or why he looked so different but she knew this was Sora. The Goblin healer didn’t believe Ai at first when she pointed it out to him, but the more he looked at Sora closely – the more he had to agree with her. He indeed resembled Sora – the bone structure did.
He too was stupefied as to how did Sora gain wings.

The distance was no more than ten feet between Sora and Toketsu.
“Are you done?” Sora asked as he patiently waited for someone to come to Toketsu’s aid.
However, no one dared to volunteer. Only a fool would extend their hand to save Toketsu. Although none of these monsters witnessed Sora’s power they could reason that if Toketsu couldn’t match the skeleton in strength then none of them would be able to do so either.

Toketsu looked terrified. Like a rat cornered with nowhere to turn to and hide.
“Empress Dagger. Empress Shards. Empress Coffin.” Sora spoke the three spells in quick succession; in a single breath.
If Toketsu’s attacks could be considered as three circles powerful then Sora’s were seven circles strong. What was more shocking for Toketsu (while he lasted), Sora executed the higher level spells one after another – without showing any sign of exhaustion.
The entire floor trembled slightly and then the wall which was several meters behind Toketsu exploded. A massive ice dagger jutted out from the wall. Unlike Toketsu’s icicle, Sora’s was ice dagger was a properly sculpted dagger – extending over a 100 meters. Its thickness was also thrice as much as Toketsu’s ice dagger.
“Impossible…” a woman whispered. Immediately, a black light flashed in front of Toketsu. A black glass like semi-transparent barrier appeared between Toketsu and the ice dagger. However, it could not match the strength of Sora’s attack. The ice dagger shattered the barrier and stabbed Toketsu. The blade went through his entire upper torso.
After which, Toketsu’s body exploded into an icy spiky ball. There was no flesh splattering anywhere…it would seem as though Toketsu’s body morphed into the icy spiky ball.
And finally Toketsu’s falling disfigured body fell into an ice coffin.
“Always nuke the fly…” Sora said with a satisfied expression.
Sora's eyes revealed a gleeful gleam as they watched Toketsu falling to his demise. The instant Toketsu was swallowed up by the coffin, Sora’s wings withered away and he fell towards the ground as well.
A woman, holding a long cigarette holder, could be seen jumping nearly twenty feet up in the air and catching Sora.
She was the one who had cast the barrier to protect Toketsu.
Monsters who had been watching everything quietly, suddenly gasped the moment they saw her – it was the floor master.
The only being whose existence eclipsed Toketsu.
The being who had set the rules of this floor for all monsters:
Rule #1 - Never kill a fellow monster on the fifth floor

Tower of Somnus
When humanity first encountered alien life, we were judged and found wanting. The Galactic Consensus interviewed our leaders and subjected us to a battery of psychological tests to determine our progress as a society. They found us to be selfish, wasteful, impulsive, and boorish neighbors. Earth was blockaded and our collective encounter with our extrasolar neighbors rapidly faded from memory. All they left behind was a hypercomm relay and a handful of subscriptions to a massively multiplayer game that participants played in their sleep. The Consensus said that it would let us interact with our neighbors in a controlled setting. That it would teach us to be better members of the galactic community. The megacorporations that controlled Earth ignored the game until they learned that the powers earned from clearing dungeons were just as real when day broke. Magic, supernatural abilities and rumors exploded from nothing and a subscription to The Tower of Somnus became a status symbol. Katherine ‘Kat’ Debs doesn’t have much, but it could be worse. Born in an arcology, she was assigned a job in the megacorporation that raised her almost as soon as she could work. Despite the stability of her corporate life, she wanted something more. A chance to claw her way up the rigid social and financial ladder to make something of herself. A chance that wouldn’t come naturally to someone as familiar with dark alleyways and the glint of steel as she was with office work and corporate niceties.Book One is up on Kindle Unlimited as of 7/6/22 - https://www.royalroad.com/amazon/B0B2X3L8H5
