《[Royal Road Community Magazine]》Life of A Druid - A Forest Tale

As the sun began to rise upon a great forest in the west, so did life begin to spring within the forest. Deer awakened the forest, as the trees attempted to grasp the sun. The wind was rare today, only blowing maybe once every few hours, but that did not stop the plans of fate on this day. A small boy wandered around the great forest, as he looked up at the largest of the trees. The light shone against the bark of the tree, small seed pods hanging from the highest of its branches. He looked down at his shackles that clung to the wrists of his hands, before looking at the shadows of seed pods which he could not differentiate from a plum tree. His stomach ached as he picked up a large stick and tossed it at the seed pods. The stick flew at a high pace, quickly lashing against the branch as the pod hit the ground. The boy walked up to the pod as he picked it up looking at the dark wood that encased the seed. He looked at it in disappointment as he stuffed it in his pocket, giving one more glance toward the large tree before walking away. The tree shook the ground as a small buck left the other deer and began to journey away from its herd.
The boy grabbed another berry as the color was smudged all over his face and hands. He left the now bare bush as he began to stray towards the loud crashing sounds of water against rocks and reeves. The water swayed and beat against his hands, as the coloring faded. He wiped his face with his hands, before washing them once more. The kid slowly got up, and he began to try to leave the forest. His eyes began to tired as he rubbed them, his movement beginning to laggard.

Thud
The small buck staggered as he barely caught the boy in time. Its hooves scuffed against the ragged dirt of the forest and the crumpled dead leaves. As it gave one final attempt, the buck tossed the boy onto its back as it began to carry him out of the forest. The deer looked at the forest once more before it left the forest on its journey east.
The sun continued to shine upon the grassy field, as the boy and his buck roamed toward the east. He rubbed his eyes as he woke from his sleep and look around at the sight of the plains. The small child looked down at the buck before falling off it out of fright.
"Why are you carrying me?" the boy asked, "Did those evil men that took me and some other people send you to fetch me?"
The small buck let out a small noise as if to say no.
"Well tell them I'm not going back, I don't want to be sold," the young child stated as he crossed his arms and began to walk away.
The buck irritated by the misunderstanding used its antlers to slide the boy back upon its back, as it swayed its head back and forth.
"I don't want to go back!" the small boy exclaimed, as he shooked the buck's horns back and forth, "I was rarely fed and they sold my mom and dad!'
As he looked down at the buck he noticed the now missing shackles on the boy. The child smiled as he looked up at his hands that he thought were now free.
"You don't plan to take me back there do you?" the boy asked, "Then I guess we could be friends."
The buck let out its own say of a sigh, as the smiling boy looked at it once again.

"What's your name?" he asked.
As the silence crept the boy concluded that the buck didn't have a name.
"Everybody needs a name!" he said, "From now on your name is Blue."
"Wait, how did I know that?" the boy asked, "I've never heard anything about that.".
The boy thought about it before shrugging it off and looking at the flowers that he passed by. Almost all of the flowers were dandelions, but a few in the field were bright purple flowers that came in small patches. He grabbed one of the dandelions by the stem as he blew at it, and watched the seeds scatter across the vast field. The wind blew through his hair as the sun began its descent, and the moon its ascent. The buck stood at a halt as it reached a flowing brook.
"Thanks," the boy thanked the deer as he got off it, and cupped water in his hands.
The buck dipped his head down as he drank water from the brook, the cold water fleeting by. As it tilt its head back up, it poked its antlers against the boy's back. Understanding it was time to go, he got back on the small buck, as they began to head east once again. The moon rose almost to its fullest by when the boy and buck stood looking at the sunset. Its beautiful colors enshrouded the sky as they closed their eyes. And then the sun went out as the two drifted asleep.
