《Fun and magic》Chapter 12-Sorting

Jason found the steps up particularly tiring, he wasn't unfit, no. In fact he was as fit as an 11 year old could be, running from trouble had brought him a certain amount of stamina.
He was just lazy...
"Uuh, i have to climb up these for 7 years, damnit they should just get elevators, what do wizards need stamina for." Jason complained.
"Stop complaining, and move faster, you're blocking the way." Hermione shot back.
"Hermind your own business"
Hermione had the urge to push Jason off the stairs.
When they reached the top, McGonagall was there waiting for them. As prim as always.
"Welcome to Hogwarts.." She started then proceeded to explain about the different houses and their rules. Jason just tuned her out, he was focused on the ugly toad underneath her.
"Escape, escape escape, where's the exit." Jason heard it mumbling to itself.
He wanted to help the poor guy, Neville wasn't a bad person, he was just a tinge forgetful. Jason could be sure that the toad had probably starved a few times already.
Feeling sorry for the thing, Jason pointed his finger at it, and with a little bit of magic, launched it into the air. Jason had made a mistake though, he hadn't aimed. So now, there was a flying frog, right over the heads of a few 11 year old girls.
Not long after, screams resounded between them, even some of the boys cried out.
Professor McGonagall quickly tried to get order back.
"Stop all of you, don't panic!"
But no one could hear her over the screams and shouts.
The toad went straight in between them, and landed right on Draco's head.
"Get this disgusting thing off me right now!" He screamed shrilly.
Crabbe and Goyle, seeing their master's predicament hastily pulled out their wands and pointed it at Malfoy, but seeing that, Malfoy got even more anxious. So did Neville.

"Stop you two buffoons! You'll hit me!"
"Trevor!" Neville shouted, and ran towards Malfoy, trying to get Trevor off.
Neville though, being the klutz he was, tripped and fell hitting Malfoy's stomach with a headbutt, sending him reeling down the steps. Where the toad, seeing his chance, hastily escaped.
"Trevor!" Neville shouted sadly.
Professor McGonagall had been trying to calm things down for a while now. But seeing no one listening to her she pulled out her wand, just then she saw Malfoy rolling down the steps. So she quickly cast a spell to stop it. Though she had acted a little too late, Malfoy had already rolled down a few times...
And so, Malfoy was injured on his first day at school.
Jason and the gang were dumbfounded, especially Jason. He had just wanted to help out. What he got in return was madness.
At least this time misfortune favored someone else
He thought relievedly, and smiled at Malfoy's shitty luck.
That is until he felt two glares, pricking him like needles.
One was Hermione, who had just been stunned by the happenings in front of her. When she saw Jason smiling, she somehow knew that he had been involved in it. So she glared at him.
Breaking the rules and causing chaos on his first day, he's indeed a thug
The other was the professor. Who had calmed everything down now, and sent Malfoy to the infirmary.
As a top class wizard, she was very sensitive to magic, not as good as Dumbledore of course, but still excellent. So when Jason launched the toad in the air, she had knew it was him. But she couldn't think that just that small action, would cause such an unfortunate outcome. She couldn't punish him now though, as he didn't have a house yet.

"You, after you're sorted, report to whoever's your house leader!" she ordered him.
Jason shrank his neck at her glare, and hearing her demand, he nodded pitifully. Hermione seeing Jason look so pitiful, nodded satisfiedly. Harry and Ron also looked at him with pity in their eyes.
What bullshit luck
And so, the crowd followed Professor McGonagall into the grand hall, where the other students and professors had been waiting for a while now. Seeing the sullen looking 1st years coming in, they all looked confused. Shouldn't they be excited, or nervous? Why do they all look like they had just been fucked without consent?
They could only push their questions down though, as McGonagall had reached the front already.
"Now before we begin, Professor Dumbledore would like to say a few things"
Dumbledore slowly stood up...
"I have a few notices i wish to announce..."
Jason intently looked at the strongest white wizard. He was an old wizened man, with his hair and beard as white as snow. His eyes were unusually bright though.
Jason couldn't find anything different about him, he blamed it on his magic being too weak though. He wasn't hasty though, Jason had found out that ever since that he caught that leaf, his magic power had been constantly rising. So he knew that even if he wasn't strong enough now, he would be in the future.
With Jason dozing off, it had already gone to Harry's turn, the sorting hat took a little longer with him, though in the end with Harry vehemently denying Slytherin, he ended up in Gryffindor.
Jason had to wait a whole while, and finally, right after everyone else,
"Jason Riley"
It was his turn...
Jason walked up to the stool and sat down, the sorting hat immediately started speaking.
"Hmmm, ha~~ard one....Scheming, but smart too. Ravenclaw would suit you wouldn't it, but so would Slytherin. Your bravery isn't that bad either."
Jason silently listened to the hat, to him it didn't really matter where he went. Ravenclaw would be good, since their library was better, and Slytherin would also probably be a nice fit, Snape was an excellent dark arts professor.
But looking down, and seeing Harry's eyes filled with hope...
Well, Gryffindor wouldn't be so bad either.
"Ha, guess then there's only one place for you..."
Harry clenched his fists, and Ron looked on eagerly. Hermione looked on curiously as well.
Then, finally under the bating breaths of the audience...
"Gryffindor!"
The hat spoke...
And Jason smiled.
