《Isekai Gundam (Reboot)》Episode 5: The First Battle (Part 1)

I am six years old! That means I am finally old enough to go out into the woods and fight monsters!
Normally, no 6-year-old would be allowed to do such a thing, but I managed to convince my parents that I was more than capable of handling myself in a fight. I asked my father if Heroes exist in this world, which both surprised and alarmed him. He didn’t seem to want to tell me about them, but some poking and prodding yielded results. From what father tells me, Heroes are basically superpowered slaves. They are affixed with a magic collar that, if removed, instantly kills the wearer and can allow others to manipulate the wearer like a living doll. They lose all ego, or if they have any it is unable to surface, and they are likely trapped in their own body watching themselves be manipulated.
I don’t know how my father knows this, and I don’t want to know.
From now on I can stay out past the time the gates close but must come home after 3 days so that my parents know I’m not dead. I plan to spend my 3 days doing some monster hunting with my army of Mobile Suit Golems. A few weeks after my third birthday my Mana Pool was large enough for me to summon an additional MS-05B Zaku I to get an even 1000 with some Mana left to spare. Since then, my MP has continued to grow, and I can now use some high tier spells while having a fully functional army at the same time. I do have more than enough to summon more equipment and MSGs, but I have not done so. I am hesitant to grow my army any larger than it currently is without good reason. After all, why would I need more than 1000 heavily armed, 1.75 m killer robots? Although, by that same logic, why would I need even one?
Either way, I have 1000 killer robots, so I might as well keep them.
The Mobile Suit Golems seem more than capable of acting out my orders. To test out their capabilities, I had brought one out of the Hangar and ordered it to attack any hostile target with melee.
It immediately equipped its Heat Hawk T3 and charge at its target which was….!
A One-Horned Rabbit…
I will give the little bugger credit. It evaded the Zaku I quite well, despite the Zaku I using its thrusters to boost it’s speed.

Then the One-Horned Rabbit made a critical mistake.
It made distance between itself and the Zaku I while the boosters were recharging and then charged the MSG with a headbutt. It did not end well for Little Bunny Foo-Foo. Long story short; metal is harder than meat and impacting said metal at 50 mph while being a frail little rabbit is a good way to smash your skull open on the torso of a killer robot.
If the Zaku I could show expressions, I am sure it had a look of disappointment. It didn’t kill its target, instead its target committed suicide. I figured that was the case because when I checked my Status afterwards I hadn’t leveled up or gained any experience.
But now I can go into woods and use my army to the fullest!
As I enter the woods, I make sure to be out of sight of the village and immediately summon all 1000 of my Zaku I Mobile Suit Golems.
“Your mission, which you will undertake, is to kill any hostile target in these woods with extreme prejudice! Do You Maggots Understand?!” I yell, giving my best R. Lee Ermey impression.
Unexpectedly, I get a response.
“Sir, Yes Sir!” (1000 Zaku Is)
Time to roll with the punches.
“Then what are you waiting for? Go give ‘em hell!” (Arkhan)
“Sir, Yes Sir!” (1000 Zaku Is)
And just like that, they rush into the forest. After a short while I begin to hear the faint popping of gunfire and explosions. While thinking that I should have told them to only use ranged and explosive weapons as a last resort, I give a silent prayer to the Gods of Modern Warfare and the God of Nature that the collateral damage isn’t too severe.
At least they don’t have flamethrowers…
I walk deeper into the forest and begin to see the scars of war on the environment. Trees with bark torn off by bullets and shrapnel, shredded bodies of Wolves, Goblins and Giant Spiders…
Dear Lord, what have I created? Is this what war looks like? No, it can’t be. This isn’t war, this is a one-sided slaughter. Each time I check my Status I find that not even a single Zaku I has fallen. I am scared; they might be way more powerful than I anticipated. Did I just start the Rise of the Machines? I wait in the middle of this massacre for one of my machines to fall in combat, just to prove they aren’t invincible, but to no avail. Hours pass, and hunger and thirst set in. I have accepted this hell as my fault and have decided to make the most f it by harvesting what I can from the dead. I take the right ears of the Goblins, the canine teeth of the Wolves and the fangs of the Giant Spiders, or at least those that are still intact...

I wait in the dark huddled next to a handmade fire while eating some jerky.
A branch snaps behind me, and I turn to see 1000 glowing red mono-eyes staring back. It would seem combat has ranked some of them up as some of them now sport the iconic ‘Commander Fin' and an additional piece of shoulder armor.
One of the newly ranked up MS-05S Zaku I Commanders speaks up.
“Mission Complete, sir. Casualties; none. Ordinance; expended.” (Zaku I Commander)
The coldness of the words that come from this creation of mine is terrifying. They just don’t care for life. Or is it because I told them to kill that they don’t care? Should I have not said ‘Extreme prejudice’ and just told them to be as merciful as possible? No, they probably would talk the same either way. A voice that sounds like what you would expect a hardened soldier in an anime to sound like is far more impactful when heard in person from a 7-foot tall robot that could tear you apart with its bare hands.
“Sir? Is something wrong?” (Zaku I Commander)
“No. Nothing is wrong.” I lie as I put them back in the Hangar.
Now I am alone, in a forest of the dead. With only this fire and the scenes of slaughter I have seen to keep me company.
It’s going to be a long night…

Delve
Summary – Level 1: Delve is an isekai litrpg that follows an average guy who just happened to wake up in a forest one day. He wasn’t summoned to defeat the demon lord or to save the world or anything like that, at least as far as he can tell. The only creature there to greet him was a regular old squirrel. Soon enough, he meets other people, only to discover that he can’t speak the language, and that not everybody immediately trusts random pajama-wearing strangers they met in the middle of the wilderness. Things generally go downhill from there, at least until the blue boxes start appearing. Delve is a story about finding your way in a new, strange, and dangerous world. It’s about avoiding death, figuring out what the heck is going on, and trying to make some friends along the way. It’s not about getting home, so much as finding a new one. Did I mention that there will be math? Summary – Level 2: Okay, but what are you in for, really? Well, this story is supposed to be realistic, or at least, as realistic as a fantasy litrpg can be. The main character doesn’t instantly become an all-powerful god and murder-hobo his way across the universe. Delve is, at its heart, a progression fantasy, but that progression is meant to feel earned. The numbers in this story actually mean something. Everything is calculated, and if you find a rounding error, I expect you to tell me about it. That said, if math isn’t your cup of tea, there is plenty more that the story has to offer. Characters are meant to feel real, and progression isn’t only about personal power; it’s also about allies, connections, and above all, knowledge. Figuring out how the system works is a significant theme. ... What, you want more details? Okay, fine, but this is going to get a bit spoiler-y. Are you sure? Yes! Really sure? I mean, this summary is practically half as long as the first chap– Now! Okay, okay! The main character becomes a magic user, but he takes a route that is not very popular in adventurer culture, namely that of a support. There is a full magic system with various spells, skills, and abilities, but our MC decides that aura magic is the way to go, and that the only stat worth investing in is mana regeneration. Most people at the Adventurer’s Guild think that this makes him a bit of a dumbass, but he’s playing the long game. We’ll see how that works out for him, won’t we? Because of his build, the MC levels up fast, at least compared to normal people. There are no cheats, though, and he is limited in other ways. There are some clear and pretty obvious downsides to his build. That’s what makes it fun, no? Morals? Our MC has them. Again, we’ll see how that works out for him. Realism, remember? Would you be okay with killing someone and looting their body? I sure hope not. POV? The focus is on the main character, but there will be occasional varying perspectives from people around him, or involved in the events related to the main plot. It isn’t going to jump all over the place. Tech is standard medieval stasis. No smartphones, but the MC does have a technical background. Computers and their programming might be involved. There might even be a bit of uplifting down the road, who knows? Anyway, it isn’t the focus. He isn’t going to invent the gun in chapter 1 and change the face of warfare. Romance is not a major focus. Friendships are more the name of the game, though there will be some characters in romantic relationships. There is exploration, though not as much of the geographical nature as you might expect. It is more about exploration of the system and the culture. The pace is slow and detailed, sometimes verging on slice-of-life. The action is meant to be realistic and grounded in the numbers, and it is intended to have meaning beyond simply punching things until they stop moving. The general tone of the story is grey, and some parts can get quite dark. People die. Sometimes, people with names, but not anywhere near GoT level. There is plenty of light, too, though, to balance the darkness. The world is dangerous, but overcoming that danger is why we’re all here, isn’t it? Anyway, if you’ve made it this far through the summary, you clearly like words. I hope you enjoy the story! Cover by Miha Brumec Summary Updated: 2020-06-14

The Dungeon Gods [DEAD - AWAITING REWRITE]
More than three centuries ago, the Great Mage, Arcius, Performed the single greatest feat a magician can accomplish, he looked into the future, and discovered his fate. In his visions, he discovered his reincarnation, to become a Dungeon. Desiring to rise to great heights again, even in his new life, he spent the remaining centuries he had researching and studying the strange beings called Dungeons, and devising a spell that would allow him to retain his memories. However, the very act of knowing what is to come can often be enough to alter Destiny. Impressed at the Mage's efforts, an ancient, powerful being, the Creator of Gods, has now chosen him, to become one of the Dungeon Gods of a new world in a new segment of reality. Their directive, to bring life to this new world. Follow him, as he brings forth the knowledge his efforts awarded him, and pits it against his unprepared competitors, in a bid to be the first to create sentient life. This is my first full on story, and is mostly going to be a learning experience for me. It is going to be a story following the life of Arcius as a Dungeon God, with very few POV swaps, if any. If I make any errors, either in spelling or in grammer, please let me know, and I will endevour to correct them ASAP. I was inspired to create this story after reading the Scale Dungeon, by TheSilverGunner, here on RRL. It is a good story, despite having only a few chapter out at the time of writing this. I highly recommend that you read that story if you find this one interesting.
