《Isekai Gundam (Reboot)》Episode 130: The Final Battle (Part 2)

As the last of the feral bioweapons fell beneath the combined might of civilian and civil servant, the full force of Arcadia’s military was getting ready to be brought to bear against the last holdout of the so-called ‘Free Galaxy Resistance’. Every single Mobile Suit Golem and Mobile Armor Golem not on ground, air or naval duties or not purposefully left behind to defend the territory was packed up into the ‘Hangar’ and readied for the final battle. Ships that had long since become battle-worn and combat-tested were pulled from various security fleets and combined together into one massive fuck-all supersized fleet. Both Adeptus Deorum-class flagships joined the huge armada as it made its final approach, slaving all hyperdrives together and preparing for the final jump into history.
As the flagships’ hyperdrives wound up, all aboard could tell that what had been told to them was the absolute truth. They could feel it in their bones, or exoskeletons, or whatever analogue they had to the expression; the final fight to secure the future of the galaxy and perhaps even the universe had arrived. Prayers were spoken, much to Arkhan’s chagrin, and the stars outside blended together in a stream of light, not that anyone could see it (aside from poor old Arkhan) due to the cameras shutting off to avoid people falling to Hyperspace Sickness or even worse, Hyperspace Madness.
The next few hours were tense. Those who had been called for this operation were, to paraphrase the quote of a certain Black Man in Black, ‘the best of the best of the best sir, with honors’, but even they were anxious about how much of a curb-stomp it would be once they finally arrived. They had all read the reports, and all knew how little there was in terms of defenses awaiting them, but while that made their job that much easier it also made things horrifically boring. But as security guards are want to say; boring can be very good for both health and sanity, so long as you have a way to pass the time.

At approximately ten minutes till arrival, the ships stored in the hangars of the flagships began the final steps in their preparations for immediate deployment. The massive blast doors unlocked and mere seconds after dropping out of hyperspace, they began to slowly open wide. The ships that had been slaved to the flagships’ hyperdrives almost immediately began to take action, taking a defensive formation to shield the giant ships as they prepared to disgorge everything inside them. Finally, the gigantic hangar doors on both flagships opened fully, and the ‘presents’ they had stored within began to exit and make their way towards the asteroid base.
Almost as soon as the Arcadian armada began to approach, another armada of equal size dropped out of FTL transit nearby. This fleet was comprised of purely organic vessels, a sure sign that Zeyhris had entered the fray. Both armadas, the one made mostly of metal and the one made entirely of flesh, moved forward as one, approaching their target with a unified and murderous intent.
The final battle was nigh.
…
“Impossible!”
“They should still be busy trying to destroy the indestructibles!”
“Why are they here?!”
“It doesn’t matter! Scramble everything! Throw everything at them!”
“All hands; man your battle stations!”
…
The force sent out to meet them was, by all accounts, the single largest collection of junk that Arkhan had ever seen. The other fleets fielded by the FGR had been embarrassingly weak and improvised, but this time was the absolute worst. The ships laid before him and his grand armada were, for lack of a better term, Frankenstein monsters that looked like some child’s idea of a ‘good space warship’. Guns were fucking everywhere on the ships, most didn’t even have the same type of gun as the ones next to it, and neither did they have any unified designs. Each ship could be considered what the Star Wars galaxy called an ‘Ugly’, but not on the scale of strike craft, oh no.

Actual capital ships were built in this way, and it was a sight that would make any military engineer weep at the horrible display set before them. God damn, they were stupid looking! One had a high-output plasma cannon that literally ran straight through the bridge and out the front windows, another had immobile missile racks attached just above the ship’s engine room and yet another was covered so completely in kinetic point defense turrets that the only way the crew could see out of the ship was through a periscope that barely let a single person look out.
Arkhan looked on in absolute disbelief as he wondered how on god’s green earth people had been allowed to design such hideous monstrosities, but then he remembered that these were the remnants of the UGN’s leadership and corporate masters, along with the staunchest defenders of those people. Yeah, they weren’t the smartest of folks, so it actually made a lot of sense that they would think that a fleet this atrociously ugly would be a good idea. Then again, they likely never expected to face Arcadia. If the intel was to be believed, they likely intended for this fleet to never be used, hoping that the galaxy would burn to ash and cinders as their bioweapons rampaged uncontrollably.
“Shame.” Arkhan muttered as he gave the order to attack.
The initial salvo of shot tore dozens of ships to bits, but Arkhan was honestly surprised that the fire had not utterly demolished his foe. Then he realized what had gone wrong.
“Sly bastards.” he remarked as he found the answer to why the entire enemy fleet had not been rendered into space-bound scrap metal. “Using Shield Ships equipped with potent energy shields, heavy armor, point defense and Kinetic Attractors to defend the weaker ones. Clever girl. But that won’t be nearly enough to win. Focus fire on the-.”
Before Arkhan could finish relaying his orders, the bioships that Zeyhris had sent moved forward and began to lob bio-plasma and crystalline organic shards at the Shield Ships. The organic projectiles hit their mark and, unlike Arkhan’s conventional weapons, cut straight through their targets. As the Shield Ships lost power and slowly began to drift through the void, Arkhan sent a small and quick ‘Thank You’ to the Hive Mind and then ordered his forces to press the assault.
By the time that the fifth hour since combat started had passed, the asteroid base was defenseless save for those aboard. Arkhan ordered that the flagships have their anti-fortress beam cannons brought to bear against the base, and in a brilliant display of overkill the eight total cannons punched through shield, armor and a decent amount of the base itself. The smooth, molten surface of the tunnels that ran through the base were perfectly sized, and Arkhan ordered his MSGs and MAGs to close and engage, and he himself moved to don his powered armor and join his creations in the battle to take the last stronghold of his foe.
