Goblin War Won! 5 Silver added to Treasury
This...this is all the bullshit that popped up when I killed the Goblin King but ignored because I had men dying. I obviously add the 15 points gotten to my Vitality, making it now at 45 and that means I have 450HP. Much more room so I don’t die instantly in a battle with a physically strong opponent. I swipe away all the level up screens and focus on the battle rewards, specifically, the money.
The woman who dragged me into the village, whose name is Kyra by the way, told me that 100 copper equals up to 1 silver, 100 silver to 1 gold, and 100 gold to 1 white gold. Currently we have 15 silver and 55 copper in the treasury I can play around with. Now I just have to decide what to upgrade first. I look at the bar that shows town happiness and honestly it’s pretty crappy. Out of 100% only 5% are happy. I click on the bar and a screen pops up that shows why the rating is so low. From what I can see there’s to little food (which seem to be the main problem), too many people are sick, it stinks (that’s an understatement), low education, and basically everything that could be wrong is wrong.

I start with the food problem since that seems to have everyone down the most. I click on the agriculture tab and begin my work. Apparently the goblins weren’t completely dumb and destroyed the towns crops that are outside the barrier so most of the farms are destroyed. It says here that we have 2 farms and both are destroyed. To rebuild the farms it will cost 20 copper, which I pay without a thought. Food is important and is needed to keep morale up. Sadly, it says it will take 2 weeks to build both farms back up to functioning level and I actually have to wait until it’s built. I click on the question mark beside the timer to see why it will take so long to build such small farms and a little not pops up. Apparently it will take so long because the town’s education level is low and they don’t know how to do thing proficiently yet.
I contemplate the idea to move on to the education category but end up deciding against it for now. Food is currently the most important problem to solve. While no actual progress will happen until the 2 farms are built it doesn’t mean that I can’t make a queue. To upgrade a small farm to a regular sized farm would 30 copper for 1 or 60 for both. A regular sized farm to a large one would 60 copper for 1 or 1 silver and 20 copper for both. Sadly, I can’t skip upgrades and need to buy each one. I decide to build 4 more farms, which cost 40 copper, and begin to upgrade them. I buy all the upgrades for all 6 farms and an extra options pops up called plantation. I leave that option alone for now, especially since it costs an entire silver.
With the upgrades I bought I only have 9 silver and 55 copper left. Looking at the food situation, after the upgrades, we’ll have about 10x more food than we’ll need for such a small population village….perfect. I move on to the education tab and instantly notice everything costs more here. I regrettably leave that tab and move on to trade. I need the town to produce money, and with me spending everything out of my own pocket without income, we’ll become stuck inn stasis quickly.

Seeing the prices lower than actually building a school I smile and a plan forms. I should open trade routes quickly. After the food situation is fixed the problem that the town had in the first place will reveal itself again. It has no protection and I have no money to pay guards a weekly wage. Good thing I have super powered soldiers who will do it for free if it means they will level faster.
Clicking the tab brings up a map of what looks like the country. Zooming in, there are 4 towns nearby and to send a diplomat to open trade routes with them will only cost 5 copper a town. That’s not all though, I can spend extra money to give the town lord as a sign of goodwill to give my traders discounts. Every 2 copper will be an percentage of discount my traders will have. This can be very beneficial depending on what all the towns specialize in. If one town has fish in abundance but doesn’t have trinkets while the other has a lot of trinkets but no fish, I can sell the fish and trinkets back for a percentage more than I paid for them. Especially if I take this discount thing into consideration. A better education for my people will give me better deals to it seems but I really can’t afford it right now.
I place one silver into each one of the towns and pay the 20 copper to send the diplomats. This leaves me with nothing 5 silvers and 35 copper. I know it was an expensive choice but honestly it’s the thing that will make us money fastest, especially now since I have 50% off on all 4 of the towns. Plus, I can’t really do anything else until I build a school and since it doesn’t require building anything I don’t have to wait for builders to free up, I can begin making money as soon as possible. Although I have all of these tabs, it would actually be a waste of money to buy anymore without a better education system in place. I finally reopen up the education tab and look at the cost of building the school. 3 whole silvers will have to be spent to build a small sized school. My hand trembles as it hovers over the buy option but with a little more compelling...I press it.
I sigh in regret and happiness. I hate spending money sooo much, it’s like I die a little inside. I would have to pay even more for teachers to arrive here and do the actual teaching but really fuuuck that. I’m having Eugene and Ethan drag their ass over here at least twice a week and teaching these idiots. I give orders for Kyra to give some Lesser Health Potions to the weak and sick. I’ll also make sure to send some Sun Legion members here from time to time to fix the health crisis. I’m sure they won’t mind, they all want to upgrade their skills and get stronger, I literally had to force most of them to leave. I chuckle at the thought that they all seem to be enjoying the Game.
I open up the health tab set public stalls around the town so people can stop throwing their literal shit into the streets. The poop and pee will then be collected and gave to farmers to be used as manure. With this, I’ve fixed most of the problems that are plaguing my people’s mind. While they won’t see it immediately, it will make a big change in the future.
I hope everything goes smoothly, especially the relations with the other towns. I do want them happy with me before I conquer them.

Maker of Fire
On a world where magic kept civilization firmly in the bronze age, the Gods dropped an accountant and a mining engineer to start a political and industrial revolution. They wanted enlightened governance and a fast track to the iron age. They got indoor plumbing, paper airplanes, a cranky queen, and one very grumpy prophet. Dramatis Personae Aylem was a bookkeeping student when she died. The Gods reincarnated her as the greatest mage ever known, born into the ruling class of gigantic, magic-wielding humans. The Gods expect her to conquer the world and introduce double-entry accounting. Though Queen and numerical reformer, world conquest is stalled because everyone is scared of her and she doesn't like war. Emily was a retired engineer when she died. The Gods reincarnated her as one of the enslaved class of small, magicless humans. The Gods expect her to drag the world out of the bronze age. Though she's already recreated matches and wrought iron, introducing technology isn't going well because she was born a slave (oops) and having escaped, wants nothing to do with so-called "civilization." Asgotl was a whale when he died. The Gods reincarnated him as a griffin and expect him to have the same role he played in his previous life: to keep a reluctant prophet from walking off the job. If only they had remembered to tell him about it. Revised update schedule will be once a week on Saturdays, noonish Mountain Time (in North America)
