《A Mere Fate of Mine》Chapter 1 A Great Start in Another World (1)

“Where is this place?”
A boy stared at his surroundings in confusion. His age was around 13-14 years old. The young boy had black hair coupled with a pair of big dark blue eyes. The chubbiness of his cheeks showed how youthful he was. Overall, he looked cute, just like an obedient child.
Up until now, Lucien was on his way home from buying grocery, humming cheerfully, thinking of asking his mom to cook his favorite dishes for dinner. All of a sudden, his surrounding changed from a market full of aunties and grandmas buying vegetables into the middle of the forest. There was no warnings or signs at all.
Lucien sweated profusely and his heart was beating hard like it was going burst out from the uncertainty of the situation. ‘Am I kidnapped? Is it my dad’s enemy? No way, I didn’t feel anything! What in the world happened!?’
He tried to calm himself down by slowing breathing in and out.
“Pheww~”
System Initializing…
“What the heck?” Lucien quickly turned back and observed around. He heard a weird voice. But with his mind in chaos right now, he didn’t catch it. As such, he was not sure whether it was an illusion. ‘I must have gone mad. Not just my eyes, but my ears as well.’

“Wow!” Lucien exclaimed. “To think I actually got summoned to another world. It seems like I’m fated to be a protagonist, huh?”

After knowing the situation, with his strong mentality, Lucien tried to cheer himself up. It was not easy to adapt to the ‘change’ after all.
“So… Is this place Abyss? What a scary name. It doesn’t sound like a good place at all.” Lucien inspected his surroundings once more. All he could see were the trees with white trunks and orange leaves. There were red grass and some weird looking flowers on the ground.
In contrast to the ground, the sky of this place was the same as Earth's. Only the sun here was much redder, just like a cherry. Too cute? Let’s called it blood-colored then, for the sake of the scary name. The sun was blood red!
Lucien was now in the middle of the forest wearing cartoon t-shirt, shorts, and sandals. He also wore a black zip-up hoodie. In his hand was a plastic bag filled with meats and vegetables.
Rustling~
Right when he was about to check the Menu, the bushes in front of him shook. Lucien quickly became vigilant and narrowed his eyes. However, the surrounding was too dim for him to see clearly.
After a few seconds, a poor-dressed man showed up. The man had a messy beard on his face, armed with a dagger and a pouch at the side. He was wearing a dirty beast skin clothe. What caught Lucien’s attention was the black collar around his neck.
‘That collar… Is he a slave or something,’ wondered Lucien. It took a glance for him to observe the man properly. Lucien decided to name him a slave man. ‘Well, he looks absolutely like a bad guy.’
“Who are you, boy!? And what’s with that clothing?” The slave man was astonished. Although the kid in front of him looked harmless and innocent, his place was Abyss He needed to stay vigilant all the time. One couldn’t judge people based on their appearance. Furthermore, the weird clothing of the kid made him curious. The slave man unsheathed his dagger and pointed at the kid.
“C-Calm down uncle! Please, don’t kill me!” Lucien was scared shitless. He had never fought anyone before. Let alone being pointed by a weapon. 'What is wrong with people these days!?'

“Who’s your uncle!?”
‘Maybe this kid is not a young master from a big family or a disguised expert.’ The slave man frowned and unceasingly stared at the kid. Not long after, his eyes widen as he exclaimed,
“What, level 0!? How is that possible? Also a title? Will of Survival! I don’t have any title even I am second class! Hey kiddo, you better tell me the truth how can a level 0 like you be here!”
The man lowered his guard a bit seeing that the kid was only level 0. It was of no threat to him as a second classer.
Lucien was a bit of relief seeing the man’s action. ‘So you can look at level and title?’ He concentrated at the slave man, trying not to be disrespect with his gaze.
Your league is lower than the target’s therefore you can not see the target’s level
‘What? I can’t even see his level! He must be powerful. I can’t fight him’ Lucien decided to tell the man the truth.
“B-Big Bro, I also don’t know how I end up here either. I was still walking home a moment ago!” He put on a scared look on his face. It seemed he could piss himself anytime.
“What nonsense!” Now that the man was 90% sure that Lucien was not some disguised experts, he became more aggressive.
“I’m telling the truth! There was also a weird voice saying I was summoned here by someone.” Lucien tried to look as pitiful as possible. He wished to cool the man’s temper.
“Then show me your status and notification logs.” The man said with a devilish grin.
“How?” Lucien’s voice shuddered.
Lucien showed his status and notification logs to the man after being taught how. It was not a pleasant feeling at all. Lucien felt like he was naked in front of the man eyes. He looked at the ground uncomfortably the whole time. The slave man contemplated for a while after he finished looking at the logs.
“Ok, kid, I will believe you now. Also, please forgive me for scaring you. You can call me Gibbs, how do I call you, boy? Lucien?” asked the slave man, no, Gibbs warmly after confirming the truth. He seemed like a different person from a moment ago as the aggression he had shown was like a lie. He even sheathed back his dagger.
Thud~
Lucien stepped back with his shaking legs. He bit his lip tightly and nodded slowly.
Seeing that the kid had not yet calmed down, Gibbs reassured him. “Chill, kid, I meant no harm. Here, let me give you some berries.”
Gibbs then took out several pink berries. Seeing that the kid was still scared, he ate one of the berries to show that it was safe.
The boy slowly nibbed the berry from his hand. It tasted sweet like sugar candy. It was quite delicious.
Gibbs patted the boy’s shoulder and smiled kindly. He wanted to show his sincerity. With his ugly face, however, he looked like a kidnapper trying to abduct a child.
“Follow me, let me take you to the town nearby. Don’t be scared, boy. Everything will be alright!” said the man, Gibbs, cheerfully attempting to lift up the mood. He looked kind, of course, if you excluded his messy beard and scars on his face.
“Um” The boy, Lucien, nodded quietly. He didn’t seem frightened anymore. He even looked the man thankfully. With a pure smile on his face, he followed the footsteps.
‘Hehe, what a special kid! My master’s going to reward this old slave heavily, receiving this present!’ The old man laughed happily in his heart. With a cold glint in his eyes, He looked at the innocent boy behind him.
‘Unfortunately, kid, you are doomed!’
