《AS LONG AS IT'S INTERESTING, ISN'T IT FINE TO LIVE AS A DUNGEON? (Hiatus)》Chapter 18 : Wait A Sec

[Eita] No no no. Hold on. That’s brings up a lot more questions than I was expecting.
My mind was reeling a little bit; parsing through her story and trying to spot the most important points that need answers.
[Kanva] Hah. Make it quick girl. I haven’t got all day to waste on the past.
Here I thought plant types were supposed to be patient.
[Eita] Alright alright. To start with doesn’t your story make human dungeon cores sound pretty dangerous? I’m pretty sure all of Calchet knows about me by now but I didn’t see any particular reactions when I was in town.
[Kanva] Naturally. For them, it’s been many generations since the event. A millennium is a long time There aren’t many that were alive at the time, and those that are don’t tend to mix with the general public.
[Eita] Hm. It has been a long time. But it seems like that would bring trouble.
[Kanva] The old and strong likely won’t come any time soon. At the very least they won’t be able to hide from my eyes. On the other hand, old stories like these may have been passed down through the old noble families. Much was lost from that time but stories and attitudes live on. I wouldn’t be too surprised if the noble that gets assigned to this area at least inherited a little suspicion of abnormal dungeons.
[Eita] Hah. That might be trouble down the line huh. At least the general public isn’t panicking so I can at least start a little track record of being sane and helpful. Let’s see. Then next, is there anything in particular that can be done about this thin mana situation?
[Kanva] I don’t believe so. Even before this it was just a matter of time. The presence of your core has moved the mana much faster than it would have otherwise. Perhaps more creatures and natural creature evolutions will return to the region soon.

[Eita] That’s good to hear at least. It’d be beneficial to me as well if more creatures show up. Hm now maybe the more theoretical stuff? What is this you mentioned about the god of creation?
[Kanva] It’s…. Mere speculation. Dungeons can create from mana. Creation is the domain of the God of Creation. Nobody really knows anything about the god of creation though. He has no followers nor festivals nor churches. He is simply universally believed to be the creator god of this world. Whether that is true or not, I can not judge.
[Eita] And the hound of Utos?
[Kanva] A Hound of Utos. It is what we call the followers of Utos, the timekeeper. Utos, like the god of creation, does not have an avatar. However he occasionally gives messages to his followers. He informs them of certain people. Or creatures. Occasionally buildings. Either way. Whatever he names is deemed to be an enemy of Utos and will be killed by a Hound of Utos.
[Eita] Sounds… dangerous. What exactly does it take to become an enemy of Utos?
[Kanva] No one knows for sure. Being immortal is usually one of the criteria but there are exceptions. The Hounds of Utos are particularly specialized immortal slayers. Most commonly, this is the undead. Time magic draws undue attention. Either way, Utos enforces the flow of time, and with the passing of time all things must end. This is true for man, beast, undead, mountains, and even gods. Eventually Utos comes for all.
[Eita] Oh come on. Isn’t that more a god of death? Doesn’t that make all dungeons a target too?
[Kanva] It wouldn’t be the first time a dungeon has been a target. But like I said nobody knows how he chooses his targets. There are plenty of creatures and people older than his targets, stronger than his targets. The hounds, while often specialized in hunting the undead, don’t even hold any special hatred for the undead.

[Eita] Heh. Well. No point in worrying about it now I suppose. It’s hardly the first time I’ve lived with death hanging around behind my back. I’ll just live as I feel like and what may come will come.
[Kanva] Hm. Well if that’s it for your questions, I’ve spent much more time here than I had felt like. We will be leaving now.
[Eita] Yes yes. We’re at the top of the canyon wall right now so if you just walk out that door you’ll see a path all the way down. I wasn’t going to make you walk through the dungeon again.
[Kesia] Ah um thanks for the food.
[Vance] Un. Thanks for having us.
While Kanva didn’t even bother to look back, Kesia and Vance gave a cute little bow before chasing after her. It would be nice if they came back often. I’m sure Saeri could use some young people around. I’m sure I can surprise them again. Especially with all the mana and DP from Kanva….
[Saeri] Fuuuu. That was scaaary.
Ah. Speaking of Saeri she just went all limp and sank to the floor huh. Time for some recharging.
[Eita] Awww you must be tired. You did a great job speaking to them on my behalf. A real little professional.
[Saeri] Hehe. I tried su~per hard but I was scared of messing up and messing up your plan.
[Eita] You wouldn’t have ruined anything. But you did great even though you were so nervous. You’ll get a little more confidence when you’ve done it a few times. For now, you deserve plenty of rest and reward.
[Saeri] A-a reward ?
[Eita] I’ll make sure you forget all about how hard todays was for you.
[Saeri] Ehhhh?
Yup. A cool and collected professional Saeri is cute, but the blushing shy Saeri is the best.

Note to Reader: I understand this book is not for everyone, if there is a writer that can write to please everyone, I have never heard of them. The MC can be frustrating in his decisions as he learns to grow and accept what and who he is. I believe this reality is unavoidable. That being said, if you feel the need to give a review, please do so, just know that I will report you if all that review seems to do is blab toxic language and insult my literary choices without giving constructive advice or alternatives. That's not just a me policy, that's a policy of this website. I'm not writing this note because I'm a writer who does not acknowledge that there are faults in my work. I know there are. That's what happens when it hasn't been professionally edited by someone other than the author. I'm saying this because I'm sick of reading 1 star or 0.5 star rated reviews that seem to do nothing but hate on the book because they don't like the story. No comments on grammar, ways to improve or suggestions for better story arcs. Just plain hate. It's not on, and I frankly shouldn't have to write this note, but needed to get it off my chest. In saying all that, thank you to those who do leave reviews that don't fall into the above category. Your appreciation of my work, or alternatively, your willingness to give advice for improvement, is appreciated.
