Chapter 19: Six Ocean Sect
“So, Yue’er, what do you know about the place called the Six Ocean Sect?”
Huang Xue sat on his throne as he stared at Yue Jing, who was bowing gracefully before him. The morning light was streaming through the open window, lighting up the room and illuminating Huang Xue’s silky white hair. It almost looked as if it was glowing.
Yue Jing paused and searched her memories before replying: “Honored master, this Six Ocean Sect seems to be considered a ‘powerful’ sect situated in the Lower Regions. Although it’s merely a great sect, and incomparable to our grand sect, over the years it has caught our attention due to its achievements and deeds. In just over two thousand years, it went from a third-rate Sect to a first-rate sect! Three of our current geniuses were even recruited from this Six Ocean Sect in the past years...but if I may dare ask, was there something about this Sect that has piqued your interest, master?”
“Oh?” Huang Xue gently touched his smooth chin that was now void of a comfy, white beard. “Ah, it’s nothing. I have...some plans, that’s all.”
In the Feng Shui continent, the world was broken in two parts: the Lower Regions and Upper Regions. Naturally, the Upper Regions are where the Three Absolute Grand Sects resided and all the powerful countries within, thus its ‘upper’ connotation. The resources in the Upper Region was naturally more abundant and rich compared to its counter part.
The Lower Region, on the other hand, was a collection of weaker countries and empires, being also separated by a distance of nearly nine hundred million miles of water and dangerous forests from the Upper Region. There were also several chunks of undefined territories and wild lands.
With the difference in cultivation resources and strength, the Upper and Lower Regions can truly be considered two different worlds in itself! The Upper Region was also considered a place where those from the Lower Regions had continually aspired to enter one day.
As for Sects, there were of course schools of varying sizes and power, being grouped into third-rate, second-rate, or even first-rate Sects. The schools that were first-rate were generally called ‘elite or major sects’. The second rate ones were referred to as ‘great sects’ or ‘mid-tier sects’, while third rate Sects were merely mentioned as ‘small sects’ - or not given a title at all.
For a Sect to progress into higher standings, it would naturally take a long time or a huge power to propel it forward. Just by using two thousand years to become a first-rate sect could already be considered unprecedented for an unknown faction during a time of turbulence.
“Alright, then Yue’er, please go arrange for me to blend into one of the loyal clans or retainers of our Godly Supreme Hall in the Lower Regions.” Huang Xue said suddenly. “I will wish to borrow their surname and identity for a while.”

“Yes, as you comman--- eh? W-wait, master, what are you saying? Yue’er does not understand…” Yue Jing said with alarm as confusion hinged on her tone. She did not understand what her master was trying to do.
“I shall be temporarily joining the Six Ocean Sect, in order to find a disciple. Since this may very well take some time, I would naturally require a safe place to reside in for the time being. And I am thinking of leaving in two days.” Huang Xue replied calmly.
“But, but why are you looking for another disciple, master? Is it because us four disciples are...not good enough?” Yue Jing could not help but ask bitterly. While she knew her master was not the sort of person to think that way, she was still overwhelmed by her master’s sudden actions; causing her to be misled.
“Haha, of course it is not like that, Yue’er. However, your master has his reasons for doing this, so I am seeking out another good seed like you four…” Huang Xue smiled as he comforted his student.
“Then...if master wishes to take in a talented disciple from the Lower Regions, why not look into schools like the Sun Dragon Sect or the Celestial Illusion Sect? Those are also first-rate sects with histories that are even longer than the Six Ocean Sect…” Yue Jing asked confusedly.
“I have read the stars and saw that my fortune of meeting my destined ones shall be in that Six Ocean Sect. That is why I will be going there for the time being.” Huang Xue said, as he told her some partial truth.
“You could read fortunes, master?” Yue Jing asked as her eyes widened in surprise. Knowing her master for so long, this was the first time she had heard about her master being able to read things like fortunes. After all, the number of people in this world that could do perform such divinity was quite few...
“Just something I happened to come across learning when I tried to break through.” Huang Xue relaxedly replied. “Now, let us not dwell on this matter any longer. Time is of essence, so I would need for you to arrange a suitable family for me to reside in as a guest.”
The Star Decree Stone had a divinity prediction range of five years. In other words, it would be possible for Huang Xue find his ‘future disciples or destined ones’ as long as he went to the places that had been previously shown to him within two years. But after that time has passed, everything would not be outside his prediction range and he would have to use the fortune stone once again.
He was also worried his potential disciples may even be killed before he gets to them, which would then be a great loss for Huang Xue and the Earthly Land!
Yue Jing went quiet as she contemplated her master’s words, before she looked up and asked: “Alright, Yue’er will obey master’s words. However, what Yue’er does not understand is, if master is looking for a disciple, wouldn’t it better for master to go to the Six Ocean Sect and reveal your identity? I’m certain that if they knew of master’s grand status, the disciple whom master are looking for may show him or herself…”

Huang Xue smiled as he replied: “The art of fortune telling is mysterious and unpredictable. If I were to reveal my identity to them, then it would raise a large commotion, which may alter certain threads of destiny. In order to not greatly disrupt the flow of this world, I need to integrate into the Six Ocean Sect and find him or her on my own.”
It was unknown what kind of disposition Huang Xue’s future disciples or destined ones would have. It was not guaranteed that they would simply flock to him just because of his great status. There are naturally prideful ones like that, and some of them may even possibly already have a master!
Furthermore, the cultivators there may not even know of their Sect, simply due to the higher level of plane that Huang Xue’s Upper Region resided in. Only by going there and learning himself, would Huang Xue be able to see things as they are.
While revealing his power and status may not possible change anything regarding the fate between Huang Xue and his destined ones, there was still the issue about the other two Absolute Grand Sects and the various major powers within the Upper Region. If somehow wind got out that an ancestor personally made contact with someone from the Lower Regions, it would not be good. And if those people happen to act out against Huang Xue at the same time, their combined interference would prove to be troublesome even for someone of his status.
Despite the miniscule chance of such an event occurring, nothing was absolutely certain. It was not so in the Jade Heaven Land, and it would be even less so in the Earthly Land!
Yue Jing eyes glowed with a faint light of comprehension, as she bowed and said: “Yue’er was previously unable to comprehend master’s wise words, so I ask for master’s forgiveness! I will now immediately go find a clan in the Lower Regions that is suitable for master to reside in.”
Just as Yue’er was about to turn and leave, Huang Xue called out from behind: “Ah, but make sure that the clan must have some great influence in the Long Dynasty.”
Yue Jing paused in her steps before turning around and staring at her master. “Eh? But if master stays at a powerful clan and join the Six Ocean Sect as a member from a major clan...wouldn’t you attract too much attention?”
“Haha, I am joining as someone ‘native’ to the land, so even if my status is a bit higher it would not impact Fate too much. Not to mention, with my current white hair, it may already be somewhat strange for me to pose as a normal ‘disciple’, even with my youthful look. Thus, the major clan will help serve as a background so people would not dive too deep into that matter. Likewise, this would mean that it may take a while for me integrate into the Sect. However, I will still retain my current appearance. Perhaps my appearance could possibly provoke a destined one to appear!
Furthermore, by joining a major clan as one of its younger generations, I can display greater talent without garnering certain suspicions from other nosy experts. Thus even if I attract attention then, I will only attract the burning desire of challenging those higher than oneself from those sect disciples. And who knows, if I stand out enough as a youth there, perhaps I may even become one of the my destined ones’ target. At that time, wouldn’t he or she personally come see me?” Huang Xue laughed gently.
While Huang Xue’s reasons were as such, his other reason was that he wanted to use his temporary ‘high’ status to deter any unnecessary skirmishes with those unruly younger generations. Although he was considered an “elderly figure”, Huang Xue was not afraid to personally make a move on anyone who wishes to challenge him, regardless if they were from the younger generation or not. Once he suppressed his cultivation, he would be granted the same status as any other youngster, given that they do not know of his true origins…
The Earthly Land was where Huang Xue, and Shen Qin, was born. It can be considered his homeland, so Huang Xue was determined not to let it be destroyed by his own hands. Adding on to the fact that he especially disliked implicating others in his own mess, Huang Xue was willing use any means, even if they may be considered despicable, to solve his problems!
Moreover, Huang Xue just did not wish to engage in tasteless and extremely extended verbal battles with the useless cultivators.
Since he possessed the ability to choose to live in a mighty family, why would he purposely enter the Six Ocean Sect as a commoner? That would not have made any sense!
Using his high status, through the influence a temporary strong clan, he would be able to attract those truly talent cultivators. With those cultivators, it would naturally be more worthwhile to chat, to argue, to fight...and to raise the level of their ability. Making several powerful enemies or allies from the Lower Regions may not be a bad idea for Huang Xue either.
After all, one may never know the possibility of growth in a mortal. Nothing is ever constant nor should ever be taken granted for...

The Shadow Paradigm - Book 1: Project Orb Weaver
Gardening, cooking, innovation, preservation, charity events... Madzistrale, Tom and Gabzryel does it all. But when they encounter the mysterious Shiakar Paradigm Society, a clash of paradigms ensues. Although both groups are aiming to make humanity stand stronger, their ideals and methods could not be further apart. Between the trio's optimistic yet naive ideals, and the SPS's tried-and-true surgical methods, determining the answer which methods can better humanity is a struggle that both parties must resolve in their own ways... Welcome to the 7th revision of my 10+ years ongoing novel trilogy. This revision took out some flawed plot concepts to re-introduce a more down-to-earth, film noir-like ambience, where a battle of wits is what will determine the outcome. It also added instead more in-depth expansion into the lives and mindsets of the characters, especially the heroes (a missing factor in older versions). Third-view limited storytelling was also introduced more prominently over my favoured third-view omnipotent, with each chapters concentrating as much as possible on a single character's point of view instead of head-hopping. So I shall begin uploading the chapters as I finish them; they're edited as much as I can, but there'll most likely be some typos and mistakes. As always, I welcome your comments and critiques, and I hope you enjoy reading that story as much as I did creating it! A parting poem to introduce the story (translated from its original French version): Credit: Les Mots, Mylene Farmer & Seal Firmly, the sky writhes When a mouth begets a death There, I will give my life to hear you To tell you the most tender words When all becomes all alone I'll break my life for a song And to lives that stoop to notice mine I know I will say goodbye But a fraction of this life I would give anything, anytime The universe has its mysteries Words are our lives You could kill a life with words Soul, how would it feel? If our lives are so fragile Words are mysteries Words of feelings Words of love, a temple If one swept the world away One could touch the universe I will tell you how the sun rose high We could with a word become one And for all those words that hurts us There are those that touches us Which illuminates, touches the infinity Even if nothingness exists For a fraction on this life We will give anything, anytime The universe has its mysteries Words are our lives We could kill a life with words Soul, how would it feel? If our lives are so fragile Words are mysteries Words of feelings Words of love, a temple
