《Witch Tier》Chapter 39: The Demon of the Storm - Part II

The tension in the air is thick as Kenjiro contemplates what few options he has to take down his seemingly invincible foe. He takes a deep breath and silently chuckles to himself.
Kenjiro: (I think I may have gone a bit over my head with this one. But I have to think of something. I can’t use the Ogre State anymore, at least not without a day of rest.)
The Veguhls cheer for Monsoon in glee.
Fat Veguhl Henchman: Get him boss!
Old Veguhl Henchman: Show that human the true might of the Innokians!
Yanni begins to cheer along with the rest of the henchmen.
Yanni: Take him down Monsoon!
Chelsea grabs Yanni and pulls him away from the impending battle. Tina hides behind the Chelsea and the girls from Monsoon.
Monsoon: No, let the boy witness the glory of the power that will deliver us Innokians from the hands of the humans!
Kenjiro glances at his Torqued Katana.
Kenjiro: (I can always attempt a Zyn-Oizarga…)
Kenjiro examines his surroundings while remaining in a fierce stance. His gaze subtly lingers on Yanni and Tina.
Kenjiro: (The attack shouldn’t harm anyone but my foe since I’m no longer in the Ogre State, but it if it doesn’t take him down I’ll be out of a sword. I only have one shot to get out of this alive.)
Monsoon charges at Kenjiro. Overtaken by the sudden speed, Kenjiro is tackled into a wall. Monsoon laughs hysterically has he pummels Kenjiro further into the wall.
Monsoon: What’s the matter human? Do you still believe you can earn my bounty now?
Monsoon leaps away from the bloody mess that is Kenjiro. The females gasp in horror and disgust. Kenjiro is still standing firm. He coughs up blood as he chuckles.
Kenjiro: Not bad. What was that? A Gyn-Chyn(gin-shin) technique?

Monsoon: Why yes. The Multi-Fist technique. Quite effective, wouldn’t you say? My late master taught it to me.
Kenjiro: Let me guess, you killed him.
Monsoon laughs.
Dean: (I can’t believe that man can take a beating like that. Is he really human or Innokian? Or maybe something foul altogether.)
Monsoon: I didn’t have to, a certain meddlesome young king beat me to it. But rest assured, he will meet his end as soon as you meet yours.
Kenjiro: Even I know you don’t have the means to perform a feat like that. At least if it’s the same king I’m thinking of.
Monsoon: Oh? Let me guess, you believe the Witch Tier to be greater than my might?
Kenjiro: Forget the Witch Tier, his damn uncle can take on a whole army of you Innokians by himself. Now he’s a true monster.
Tina: (Does he mean Prince Gideon?)
Monsoon’s seems highly amused by Kenjiro’s words.
Monsoon: An army of Innokians you say? Then I must meet him in battle.
Kenjiro: It would be your last greeting, I can promise you that.
Monsoon laughs. He materializes Shock Bracers, metal bracers with sharp spokes on them. Gray mist swells around him, rattling the entire area. Everyone within the room looks worried.
Monsoon raises his arms above his head and spreads his wings. Steam emits from his Shock Bracers and gray electricity covers his body. The humming from the electricity is extremely loud. The electricity itself is so out of control it begins to damage the room, putting everyone in peril.
Monsoon: Tell me human, does that warrior possess this much might?
Kenjiro grunts as he witnesses the room go into a panic.
Kenjiro: Are you insane?! You’ll cave the whole damn room in!
Monsoon: Then I suggest you do something about it human. Witness a third of my strength!
Fat Veguhl henchman: No boss, you’re going to ruin everything!
Old Veguhl Henchman: Iarlec save us!
Tina: I’m too young an pretty to die here! I haven’t even met the king of Massadah yet.
Chelsea clutches a scared Yanni.
Chelsea: Stop this before you kill us all you fool!
Everyone ducks under cover in extreme panic as Monsoon continues to laugh.
Monsoon expels a sphere of electricity from his body, covering the entire room in a blinding gray light.

Kill the Joker: Survival Game
Redemption is a fickle thing. Nine detectives and nine serial killers find themselves playing a dangerous survival game of deductions, pretending, and - murder. With your life and alias on the line, what would you give up for a shot at redemption? ... The main premise and kick of KtJ is that it is a guessing game of sorts. 18 high school students of various ages and backgrounds come together and are given aliases, such as "King", "Killer", or as the protagonist is aptly named - "Protagonist". They do not know each others' identities, and what's more - 9 of them are anonymous detectives, and 9 of them are serial killers. The cast is given a list of their names, and a list of the identities of the serial killers and detectives they are being held hostage with, and are forced to interact to guess the identities. The people who are able to connect all identities will get "a special advantage" in the killing game, but it isn't specified what. Alongside this, each cast member is given three secrets they are able to reveal at any point for an advantage in the killing game as well. However, one of these secrets is their name, and revealing that secret will result in a minor "punishment" as well. [COVER ART DONE BY RILIE @kisikils] [Illustrated]

Toothpick
“Hello! My humble audience! I, the Bard of the North, am going to tell you a tale. Nothing new, nothing old. A story of a hero, some may say, others a poor boy who was hated by the world.” The storyteller paused as he waited, right timing was everything when telling a story. Pacing… Too slow and the audience became bored then left without tossing even the smallest of coins. If he spoke too fast and rushed the story. It would leave the audience confused and having no reason to be impressed. So like any good storyteller, the Bard has to do a balancing act of sorts. Not too slow, not too fast. Just perfectly in the middle. “In a shattered country in the south, a novice princeling has the ambition to mend a torn tapestry that is his birthplace. Struggling to fend off those who would usurp the throne in an unending civil war spanning centuries. A mercenary that left only death in his wake, unable to stave off the monotony and peace of life. He looks back at the path laden with bodies, wondering if it was all worth it. Wandering souls summoned by a madman, travel away from a wasteland in a foreign land, the first alone, the others as companions. A deity, ancient in her years, waiting to be freed from a duty she no longer enjoys. For all these people and their stories, none are the hero of this tale. No, the hero is not grand, not wise, not ready.. he was punished for nothing of his doing, who was an outcast that was unloved by many, including his father.” This was always the big reveal novices use to jump off into their story. He did not start here, instead, like any good fishermen, he set the bait and waited until the fish bit before pulling. As he saw the audience's eyes focus, he then started the backstory. The harness, that stopped the listeners from having metaphorical whiplash. The foreshadowing. “But that is not where the story starts. No, not even the hero's birth. Where the story begins, is the boredom of the deity, a deity many know of. She who hunts for the impossible, the guide for those who have lost the path, the Huntress of Mallon--” A small pause, a short breath. “--All old names for a single powerful being that has roamed the grounds of this continent longer than any line of kings or queens, lords or ladies. A being of worship for many an individual…” One last breath. And he began singing the first verse.
