《The Journey Towards Stardom》Chapter 13 - Fish bait

Getting off the cab and making his way towards his apartment, Faer saw a familiar figure sitting against his door fast asleep?
“Jenna?!” Panic flashed across his face as he quickened his steps, Faer bent down and picked her up, gently putting her over his shoulder as he opened the door.
Hurriedly laying her down on the bed in the guest room, he checked her temperature and breathed a sigh of relief. Why was she asleep outside his apartment? How long has she been there?
Faer was worrying incessantly. Anything could have happened! Just what was this damnable woman thinking?! No wonder he didn’t get a reply from her.
Taking off her heels, Faer then covered her with a blanket and quietly shut the door as he left the room.
He struggled to calm down as he made his way to the shower. His lips were pressed into a tight line while he stripped then stood under the showerhead, letting the water wash away most of his concerns.
‘Leaving one sleeping woman to meet yet another sleeping woman.’ Faer never in a million years thought he’d face problems like this.
Getting entangled with anyone romantically was the farthest thing from his mind. Right now he needed to focus on becoming a successful model.
Wrapping a towel around his waist, Faer exited the shower and made his way to the living room to get a bottle of water, momentarily forgetting he wasn’t the only person there.
In the other room, a beeping sound roused Jenna awake. Drowsily looking around, she realized she was in an unknown bedroom. The events from before came back to her as the covers slid down her body. Bolting up, she jumped from the bed and ran out the door then stopped dead in her tracks.

At the sound of a door being slammed, Faer seemed to have remembered something. His body turned towards the direction of the noise and found an open-mouthed Jenna staring blankly at him.
Faer should have felt embarrassed being seen half naked like this, but he was strangely unconcerned. However, he knew it wasn’t polite to stay like this, so he quickly excused himself, made his way to his room and threw on sweatpants and a T-shirt.
Jenna, who seemed to have lost her wits, stared blankly at the place Faer was standing a minute ago. She gulped as she tried to forget the image of the water droplets clinging to his hair and the bobbing of his Adam's apple as he drank his water. She especially tried not to think about the prominent bulge that was hidden beneath that towel.
‘He’s your client.’ Repeatedly chanting that mantra in her head, she slowly calmed down.
Faer made his way back to the living room, to find Jenna sitting on the couch.
“Sorry about that. More importantly, why were you outside my apartment? Fast asleep no less. That was a really stupid thing you did.” Faer scolded her out of worry.
“Yeah, I didn’t think I’d end up falling asleep. I was searching for you after you disappeared last night. I thought something happened and was worried out of my mind. Not knowing where else to look, I came straight here in hopes that you’d have left and come home.” Jenna rubbed her forehead in frustration.
“I’m not sure if you saw the message I sent an hour ago, but I wasn’t feeling well and decided to rest somewhere quiet and eventually ended up passing out. I woke up not too long ago and left right after. Sorry I caused you worry.” Fear bowed his head in apology.

“So that’s what happened. I’m relieved. I think you took 10 years off my lifespan.” Jenna chuckled to break the serious mood.
“I’ll make it up to you by becoming someone worthy of being represented by Jenna Mccaw.” Fear gave her a gentle smile as he leaned back against the couch.
Smiling along with him, Jenna gradually relaxed.
“You haven’t eaten, right? I’m starving, so I’ll whip us up something. Any suggestions?” Faer questioned.
“How about scotch eggs served with bread?”
“Ah, that would certainly work since I have a lot of eggs.” Faer nodded in acknowledgment and told her to wait in the dining room as he then left for the kitchen.
Approximately a half hour later, Faer brought their food out and placed it on the table then returned with two glasses of orange juice.
“Here you go. Scotch eggs.” He smiled.
“Hoho this looks good! Handsome and able to cook, you’ll make for an excellent housewife.” She praised.
Faer wasn’t sure whether to laugh or cry.
On a round patterned plate were small tomatoes with green leafy vegetables that looked to be beet greens and watercress, along with a red sauce. Last but not least was something cut in half showing a white and yellow surrounded by minced meat. These were the scotch eggs. There also a smaller plate with buttered bread.
The fragrance emitted was truly heavenly.
“Let’s eat.”
Jenna nodded her acquiescence. Biting into the bread, she unintentionally moaned her appreciation.
You could tell the bread was freshly baked. The crust hard and thin but the middle of the bread was sweet and soft. Truly, it was too delicious.
Not waiting another moment, Jenna also tried the eggs.
“Ohmugud.”
“Slow down or you’ll choke.” Faer reminded her. Though he couldn’t blame her for reacting that way. The chef from his memories truly was on another level.
“You like it?” He asked, already knowing the answer.
“Yeah! It’s too delicious.” Jenna nodded her head, reminiscent of a bobblehead doll.
“That’s good then.” He was relieved.
“Oh! While you pulled a Houdini last night, I got you an opportunity.” Jenna said as she happily ate her food.
Faer’s eyes brightened at the mention of future work.
“No need to look so happy.” Jenna laughed then continued, “It’s an event for newcomers. They have it every year. Basically, for a whole month, you’ll be with another bunch of models as you compete with them. The prize is being on the cover of Noblesse magazine, as well as walking on the runway at New York Fashion Week. You up for it?” She knew she had him, hook, line, and sinker.
‘Finally! This was what I had been waiting for.’
Faer was walking on cloud nine for the rest of the day.
