《Number One Commander》Chapter 10 - Geno-enhanced Barbarian Berserker

The doors to the Crypt of Heroes shook open and from within the darkness inside a thunderous roar emerged halting and intimidated the Inzektors advance.
Taking the opportunity while the Inzektors were stunned Luon quickly retreated towards the table Belle was located.
Safe and secure he then took a glimpse towards the double doors of the Crypt of Heroes as the one who changed the flow of the battlefield appeared.
There emerged a monster about two times larger than the average human being. With very unruly hair, well-defined body structure, and only with a pair of shorts - a half-naked man who can easily be mistaken for some gladiator made his entrance into the scene.
“Ivar, the greatest Barbarian Berserker in history, I command you to dispose of those Inzektors!” Belle bellowed.
With low roar in reply to her words Ivar dashed towards the group of Inzektors and using his fist, he began to pummel the Inzektors to death.
His muscles were not for show as for every punch lifted the Inzektors off of their feet while at the same time imprinting a large mark on their body.
Luon took this time to evaluate the situation, seeing how as he now has free time. He noticed that 45 minutes had passed since the start of the tutorial. Luon then quickly recalled that Belle only said she needed just 30 minutes of time.
“How come you took so long to summon Ivar? I thought you said you only needed 30 minutes,” slightly angered Luon asked Belle.
“Hero units are particularly special. They are based on legendary figures in the past who were at the pinnacle of strength. They can only make their appearances in the simulations for a crazy amount of points.” Belle replied ignorant of Luon’s feelings.
Belle looked at Ivar who was massacring the waves of Inzektors, “Also now you can see what kind of strength a person with the combat level of over 90 in just physical abilities is at.”
Belle then started to explain the history of the wild man.
With the invention of intergalactic space travel, many Solar Systems united to fight the Inzektor race. Numerous famous figures emerged from the shadows, Ivar being one of them.
Ivar the legendary Barbarian Warrior, before space travel existed, was a very fearful existence.
Ivar as a child had admired heroes. He came from the Plana solar system which inhabits many fantasy races, it was a time full of conflict, and from his parents, he heard of many warriors being able to mow people that with a single swing.
Ivar was inspired - he and his childhood friend got together daily to play and trained to be heroes, to protect people they care for. Matador though had no talent or ability to be a hero. He admired Ivar greatly.
At the age of 10, Ivar was able to hunt a giant forest bear himself.
One day Ivar smilingly came back to his home while incredibly injured. Worried Matador mended his wounds after hearing another day of heroic tales. Matador thought 'what could he possibly do for Ivar?'

Then he recalled that many heroes had weapons, while Ivar was still weaponless. With determination, he studied craftsmanship and around this time intergalactic exchanges began to occur.
As Ivar hunted daily, Matador studied the new technology from the other solar systems as well as the basics of crafting. He created a magnificent sword and presented it to his friend Ivar.
Ivar was amazed at his friends' consideration and took the weapon happily. With sword in hand, Ivar traveled to many locations with the intention of growing even stronger.
Matador continued to study how to make his friend even stronger. He began to research methods to improve the body creating genetically enhanced supplements making Ivar more superior than many humans.
On his journey he met an imp in front of a cave who said that he who passes the trials in the cave would be given the opportunity to obtain the blood of a god, a single drop was enough to step into immortality or so the imp emphasized.
Unfazed by the words the imp said, Ivar challenged the cave with the desire to grow even stronger than ever. With every trial would be a powerful foe. As tough as it was it took Ivar 30 years to complete the trials.
After completing the 9000 trials he was awarded the blood of a god, or so he thought, but he was tricked by the imp to drink the blood of the greater demons of hell.
After Ivar ingested the blood his sanity disappeared and what replaced it was a desire for power and slaughter. The first thing he killed was the imp that gave him the prize in the first place.
He had a walked a path of no return, every person he met be it good to bad as long as they had some strength he would challenge them to a battle of life and death.
Hearing news of his friends' plight, although Matador wasn’t a combatant, he challenged Ivar in hopes to revive his friend’s mind. Matador didn’t stand a chance and after a few blows he was defeated, his pleas never reached Ivar.
With a swing of his sword - Ivar ended Matador's life and while bathed in the blood of its creator the sword has awoken its own will. Using its powers, the sword removed Ivars negative state of mind from the enrapture of the demonic blood.
Wide awake due to the sorrow and guilt of killing his friend Matador, Ivar decided to end his life in the most heroic way possible. He saved as many people as he had killed in the past and with the power of intergalactic space travel he charged through the vast emptiness of space in hopes of ending the Inzektors race only to be never heard of again.
After she finished her story, Luon quickly realized that the Ivar is starting to take more and more time clearing the waves of Inzektors.
“If Ivar was as strong as you said he was how come we haven’t won yet? He’s still struggling to fight the endless waves of Inzektors.” Luon said as he looked at the giant warrior who fought without dropping his pace.

“That’s what the extra time you saved was for,” replied Belle as she began to operate the panel on the table once again.
The Crypt of Heroes showed signs of some activity as within the doors a dangerously broad and unrefined blunt weapon appeared. What made this weapon unique was that this large weapon revealed slight signs of tampering.
Several wires and lights were unnaturally reflected in the design of the weapon. A higher level of technology that Luon had not been aware of was present inside. Luon had the sudden urge to walk up and dismantle it to figure the mechanisms inside.
“Ivar, catch!” Ignorant of Luon’s feelings Belle walked up towards this heavy looking weapon - quickly picked it up and tossed it towards Ivar.
With a short roar the Inzektors surrounding Ivar backed off several meters, and he took the brief second to jump and grab the weapon.
What surprised Luon the most was how strong Belle was. She was able to pick up such a huge weapon and quickly tossed it aside like trash.
Before Luon could consider what kind of trick she used to be able to lift the weapon Ivar shouted in joy as if reunited with his partner he began to slaughter the Inzektors.
Slaughter! Kill! Destroy! Ivar with his new weapon began to crush the weak and pitiful Inzektors at a pace so fast the group was slaughtered before the reinforcements arrived.
“That sword which just came out of the Crypt of Heroes is called ‘The Sword of 9000 Trials’. It was the same one Ivar used when he was rising to power, after many different modifications, refining techniques, and with the blood of a significant amount of enemies the sword itself became a relic.” Lectured Belle.
“Now that I think of it, have you tried to use the BMPU to scan completed weapons? The appraisal skill developed on it displays how well made the weapon is.” Belle thought and said.
Even without the BMPU, Luon’s skill was able to evaluate the properties of the weapon, however, not wanting to expose it he operated his BMPU to scan the Ivar’s sword.
[The Sword of 9000 Trials]
[Rank - Unique]
[Attack - 3333]
[Durability - 776/777]
[A sword who gained a will after 9000 trials. Ivar’s friend Matador had refined, sharpen it using many different techniques incorporating even higher-level technology, thus creating a sword at the pinnacle of creation.]
[Perk 1 - Energy Drain]
[Perk 2 - Energy Resistance]
[Perk 3...]
As Luon read its properties, he secretly admired the abilities that Ivar’s friend Matador has, compared to the makeshift creation he couldn’t possibly compare.
[Damaged Scrap Sword]
[Rank - Unranked]
[Attack - 100]
[Durability - 5/200]
[A piece of scrap made skillfully together with a mana generator, however, due to lack of any refining methods is still a piece of scrap.]
After reading comparing the enormous difference in skill, Luon secretly decided that his next action was to study crafting.
Belle who noticed his expression and his actions understood what he was thinking of, she kept quiet in consideration of Luon’s feelings.
With the overpowered Hero Unit with his exclusive weapon, the group managed to reach the enemies Crypt of Heroes and destroyed it - thus completing the tutorial.
After completing the tutorial the two exited Varz, the sun was already setting, and Luon received a message from Rina to head home.
After seeing the message, he turned to face Belle, gave a quick bow and said: “I appreciate what you showed me today, it turned over my worldview.”
With those words, Luon began to depart but before he could Belle next words halted him immediately, “If you want to we can go to the engineering faculty and get you a license in engineering.”
“Let’s go right now!” yelled Luon as rapidly approached her, he was very concerned about his current abilities compared to his peers.
A little shocked by his response, Belle giggled a bit and said, “You idiot, its closed right now so how about we meet up and go tomorrow?”
After arranging their next meeting the two departed, Luon today had a very fruitful harvest, a very productive day.
…
“He was super strong, he fought Inzektors around level 40 to 50 without any enhancements, and a poorly made weapon, from what I can tell his combat level should be around 30. Although his body was a bit slow, his reaction speed, as well as efficient combat techniques, made him last longer,” said Belle over the video chat.
“Hmm, so he’s that good? And you plan on bringing him to my place tomorrow?” Replied the person Belle contacted.
“Yeah, can you also arrange the Engineering examination for him? I would appreciate it. Usually, there should be a five-day delay but he looked very interested, and I feel bad to get his hopes up like that.” replied Belle.
“That can easily be done, for my first friend something like that is too simple. I am also quite interested in this person as well. I wonder what kind of innovation he would make after his simulations... I’ll arrange a room for us to spectate his examination,” said the other person.
“Thanks, I’ll see you tomorrow,” Belle said as she hung up the call.
After the call ended Belle’s friend quietly said: “I wonder what kind of interesting man made you ditch our meeting, maybe I’ll make it a tad bit harder for him.”
