Lowen's grip suddenly tightened on his Battlehammer, with a questioning gaze, he asked with confusion.
"My hammer, what for?"
The man, seeing Lowen hesitating, instead, released a light chuckle.
*Hahaha*
Shaking his head he said.
"I need a weapon and I've always been great with heavy ones. As for swords, I'd be lucky if I could kill a chicken with one of those."
Lowen stared at the man for a moment in confusion, he didn't know if he was bragging or inciting self-pity. Either way, the fact remained that the man did indeed need a weapon and when it came between a sword and a hammer, Lowen had to admit that he preferred the sword. With a flick of his wrist, the hammer spun in Lowen's hand with the handle now held out to this man in front of him. The man smiled and picked it up. Once more a fire burned in the man's eyes. Looking at the heavy wolf hammer as though it were an old friend, he gripped it tightly, causing the knuckles on the man's hand to begin to crack and pop. Lowen noticed this and was surprised at how well the hammer seemed to settle in his hand, it looked like a perfect fit. The man took a few practice swings and the air began to make large whooshing noises. Seeing him swing the hammer about, even though his physical strength was below Lowen's, the man had better control over the hammer. Seeing such skill, Lowen could immediately tell that this man was masterful with a hammer. Lowen nodded in recognition.
"Good, so you can actually use that thing. I've seen other battlemages but one of them struggled to even lift it, yet surprisingly, you swing it with such precision and ease, incredible."
The man stopped for a moment and looked at his hands.
"I didn't think I'd still be able to swing it like this but holding this hammer just feels right."
As the man gazed deeply at the heavy battle hammer, Lowen's voice soon snapped him out of it.
"Now that you have a weapon, are you ready?"
The man had no more words to say, so with a simple nod, it was time to start. As the two quietly left the cell, Lowen gently shut the door behind them and like two shadows, they disappeared into the depths of the cave. Remembering his way, Lowen retraced his steps and ran like the wind, headed for the dome-like chamber. Along the way the paths split in many different directions and as the paths split so two did they separate and set the plan in motion. Lowen headed to the chamber to cause a huge distraction while the man, on the other hand, would seek out Clovis and rescue him. The man had told Lowen earlier that when a man was brought here alive, it meant that they were important in some way and that Rize needed them. This would mean that they would immediately be tortured and once they break, Rize would be able to take over their mind forever. Therefore, Lowen couldn't wait until after he assassinated Rize, Clovis needed to be rescued now. So Lowen would go to the chamber attracting as many of the goblins as possible there, while the man who already knew his way around this cave system, would go directly to the important prisoner cells and get Clovis out. So after a brief description of Clovis, everything was settled and the two had separated.

With Lowen's speed, he would reach the dome chamber before the man would reach Clovis and so he did. As the dome chamber appeared before his eyes, Lowen's speed increased and as he came to the entrance, Lowen immediately stormed in. With a quick flash, Lowen appeared in the middle of an empty chamber, looking around he could still see those same regular crystal's glowing a bright blue. Lifting his head up, Lowen inhaled one huge breath and with a mighty howl that seemed to be more beast than human, he roared at the top of his lungs.
" RIZZZZZE!!! GET YOUR UGLY GOBLIN ASS OUT HERE NOW!!"
The walls of this chamber shook and trembled in the wake of Lowen's tyrannical roar. After a moment the chamber returned to a tranquil silence, so silent in fact, you would wonder if you had not gone deaf instead, from the roar that had just rocked this dome. After only a few seconds, the sound of hundreds of footsteps could be heard echoing out beyond the chamber walls and just like before, dozens upon dozens of holes began to open up from the wall and a flood of goblin soldiers rushed in. 50, 100, 200, 300 goblin soldiers rushed in and encircled Lowen. Shields spears and swords were all at the ready. These goblins, after losing their enemy once, only to have him return on his own in the depths of their own territory, the goblins couldn't help but shout. One part in pure excitement and one part in a seething rage. Seeing the small human boy that slaughtered so many of their brethren, the goblin soldiers blood began to boil. Yet none of them would make the first move, not without an explicit order from their one and only revered master. As though it were right on cue, the wall opened up once more. From that path, two goblins walked forward. Seeing their faces, Lowen immediately recognized them and they too recognized him.
Rize and Colt had once more made their appearance, looking at the small human child, Rize at first was surprised and grew even more surprised at the state in which Lowen's body was in.
(This boy looks perfectly fine now but it's only been a few hours. He was on the verge of death and he had just barely managed to escape but now he's back and there's not even a scratch on him, a potion maybe. He doesn't seem to be of wealth though, could it have been Roland who healed him? No, he isn't capable, then how?)
Rize's interest in Lowen grew more and more. He didn't think Lowen was stupid and yet this boy had returned behind enemy lines.
(Could he simply just be insane, there doesn't seem to be any logical reason for his return, just what is he hiding?)
Rize threw these useless thoughts out of his mind and began to laugh in joy. He didn't know how or why the boy had returned but now that he was back and without Bren, this time, there was no way Rize would let him go.
"So you came back, I'm glad, I was beginning to miss your ugly human face. I wonder though, do you really think you'll be able to leave from my grasp a second time. Tell me, is it craziness or just plain stupidity?"

Lowen, hearing this, showed no changes in expression, instead, he slowly extended his sword. Uncoiling it from his arm, he pointed its tip at Rize.
"Whether I'm crazy or idiotic you have no need to worry about that because pretty soon I'll be taking that head of yours."
Rize wanted to laugh at these words but before he had the chance to do anything, Lowen's body had already flashed.
*Schink*
When he reappeared, 5 goblin soldiers had already begun to fall to the ground and before they even hit the ground, they were already dead. Rize, seeing this was shocked, to say the least. He didn't know if it was his Imagination or something else but it seemed that the boy, in a span of only a few hours, had somehow become faster. Rize immediately threw his hand forward and issued his order.
"Take him!"
The goblin soldiers rushed forward like a horde of disgusting locust. With swords slashing and spears thrusting, these goblins attacked from what seemed like every angle.
*Swish* Schink* Schink*Swish*Swish*
Even though these goblins knew they weren't supposed to kill Lowen, still, none of them held back whatsoever. Each slash of the sword and each thrust of their spears was meant for one thing and one thing only, execution. Blade after blade came after Lowen's neck, chest, arms, legs, and feet but with Lowen's current speed, none of these goblins could even touch his shadow, let alone him. As quickly as blades came at Lowen, his sword returned the same amount of strikes if not more. If 5 blades came at him then in return Lowen's sword slashed out five or six times. Every strike these goblins sent at Lowen was a complete miss and yet, his in return was instant death. After only a few seconds, more than 20 goblins were already dead. Rize saw this and knew that it wasn't just a figment of his imagination or a hallucination, Lowen truly was faster. Rize didn't hesitate and immediately sent Colt in. Colt had had his foot completely ruined earlier in the day, so Rize had to waste a powerful healing potion on him but right now there were no regrets. Had he not given it to him, then Lowen would have come here and held even more of an advantage. Colt's body flashed and he appeared right behind Lowen. With the swing of his mace, he brought it down upon Lowen's head but Lowen held no fear for this second circle earth mage, not anymore. As Colt's mace tore through the air, suddenly it struck the top of Lowen's head. Strangely though, Colt's mace continued until finally it struck the ground but the results of smashing a small child into meat paste with a mace did not appear before Colt. Instead, the image of Lowen suddenly vanished and blurred, what Colt had struck was not Lowen but instead was an afterimage. Lowen had disappeared and reappeared behind Colt almost instantly. Before Colt had realized what had happened, he could feel each and every hair on his body stand on end and as a cold eerie feeling traveled up and down his spine, he suddenly felt fear like no other. He knew with every fiber of his being, he knew with 100% certainty that what stood behind him...It was death. Rize now had no choice but to make his move. As Lowen's sword cut through the air, it pierced towards Colt's back.
*Clank*
Before Lowen could pierce Colt's back, his sword was completely intercepted by a wall of ice. Lowen's eyes met with Rize's in surprise. Had Roland not told Lowen earlier, that this was a possibility, Lowen would have been completely unprepared but apparently, ice magic was simply an extension of water. One only needed the inscription spells, ample knowledge and power and then the control of ice magic was theirs. Even though Lowen was told of a possibility of this, he was still surprised that Rize still had a trump card. With this momentary look quickly passing, Lowen quickly got back into action. Using his strength and with his earth magic, he poured his power into the inscription spell for sharpness and his sword became increasingly sharp. Lowen then began to force his blade through the wall of ice. Colt was not slow either, with his life saved by Rize, Colt couldn't afford to slack. Raising his mace high above his head, the bracelet on his wrist began to glow and with one powerful swing, Colt struck the ground.
Before Lowen could finish pushing his sword through, suddenly, several earth spikes came shooting at his chest. Lowen had been solely focused on his sword that he hadn't noticed the ground. With no defense, every single one of the spike's struck him.
* boom boom boom*
Lowen's body was immediately forced back but neither Colt nor Rize showed a happy expression. Looking at Lowen's chest, there was no blood, there was no sign of pain nor any screaming in agony. The earth spikes had left no mark whatsoever. The spike's had been strong enough to force Lowen back but now they could no longer harm his body. Lowen looked down at his chest and smiled fiendishly. The strength he felt right now, the power coursing through his body, Lowen felt invincible.
Lowen slowly brushed crumbling bits of dirt off of his shoulder and with a cocky tone, he said.
"Is that all?"

Only Villains Do That

This is not his story. Standing nearby at the moment Yoshi was isekai'd was a man named Seiji - a rude, cranky, misanthropic musician who was not at all pleased to find himself also snatched up and transported to Ephemera by the goddess's wicked sister, Virya. According to this self-proclaimed Goddess of Evil, the whole fantasy adventure thing was a game she and her sister played to stave off the boredom of immortality, and since the good goddess, Sanora, had picked her Hero...well, Virya needed a Dark Lord. A grown man with his own career and ambitions, Seiji has no interest in playing. Unfortunately for him, the call to adventure was not a request. Now, he must conquer Ephemera and defeat the Hero...or Virya promises to make him beg for the release of death before granting it. Playing along for his own survival, Seiji nonetheless is under no illusions who his true enemy is, and it's not the naive young would-be Hero from his own world. Placed in an impossible position, Seiji must make enough progress toward world domination to keep his sadistic patron goddess off his back, but not so much that he can't strike an accord with the forces of Good and convince the Hero Yoshi that it's the goddesses who are their mutual enemy. Forced to embrace Evil without being too evil, Seiji walks the razor's edge, building his forces and biding his time till he can get revenge on the goddesses and be free of them, his only certainty that he will not be getting out of this with his hands clean. Midthalion Saga
+++Working on new chapters. Share what I've posted with your friends and family! Be sure to build strong bonds with those who are important to you. We only have each other in this world for so long!+++ Can Roderick XXIII gather together and train a party of adventurers to clear out Madeon Caves and bring peace to the wildmarches of Midthalion? Sent from his home monastery in the west to the wildmarches of Midthalion, Roderick the Holy Avenger is devoted to living out his oath to bring the Holy Light to the dark corners of the world. He enlists the help of an old friend, Ulrich Vogelbrandt the dwarf druid, to train and prepare a fighting force capable of defending the west from the evil they both see gathering and growing in the east. Eoroth is an ode to Tolkienesque epic fantasy, Robert E Howard and H.P. Lovecraft's pulp fiction, and Gygaxian Dungeons & Dragons. I like to write about serious topics because I think it's fun. I hope it makes for a fun read. Place: Eoroth, a vast, flat world with many continents set in oceans that reach out and mingle with the Celestial Sea. Our story takes place on the continent of Thalion in the middle, unsettled region called Midthalion. Peoples: Races in Eoroth aren't different species; the species of man is just incredibly diverse, consisting of many known races (and perhaps some unknown). There are no humans in Thalion. Thalion's races include variations of elves, dwarves, halflings (billowits), pierros (clownish men), bergeracs (long-nosed and swarthy men of honour), orcs, trolls, goblins, and hobgobs. The Church: There's one dominant religion in Westhalion. The faith of the elves is an analogue to Roman Catholicism while the dwarves practice an Eastern Orthodox analogue. (Forgive me for not having figured out names yet.) The practitioners worship a triune god (the All-Father, Son-of-All, and Holy Light). There are many powers in heaven, all created by God. These include the Twelve High Thrones, individual, created beings who take on the role of guiding mankind in different aspects, drawing them closer and closer to God. (That should be the essentials. I could write pages on the theology. Comment where something's unclear in the story.) Natural World: There are plants and animals in Eoroth, but the world is also inhabited by spirits called aeons. Aeons are transformative beings; in the wild, they'll change based on whatever is happening nearby. Pollute a pond? Expect to see toxic toad-men running around. Leave a bunch of dead bodies strewn across a battlefield? Expect the place to become haunted with ghouls and ghasts. Druids are important for making sure that the aeons are pacified; that their needs are met so that they don't become rampaging monsters. Where the wilderness becomes overgrown, so too do the aeons. Aeons and People: Long ago, men learned how to trap aeons in stone tablets and use them for war. Now, anyone can capture an aeon into a special staff made by a druid. Men train, raise, and bond with these aeons. Druids often build entire ranches devoted to raising healthy aeons as allies and companions. Aeons are divided into twelve known families, and the church sees these as corresponding with the Twelve Thrones in Heaven. Direction: My goal is to get the story to one million words by June next year. I have tons of content in mind for the world. I want to release novels set in different ages of the world depicting different historical events. I hope to expand the setting into a tabletop role-playing game as well as a series of old-school JRPGs. But, it all begins with writing some stories and publishing my novels.
