《Blue Star Cultivator》Chapter 30. The Cosmos Region
Advertisement
The Cosmos region was a no man's land, situated geographically between the Waltham province and the Calabar province, neither province wished to pump money into this rural region which was devoid of any natural resources and was rife with random fierce-beast attacks all year round.
The cost in money and man power to make it safe for people to live was too great and the returns too little.
Because of this, it has become a haven for criminals. The people wanted for serious crimes in either province will most likely be found here and over time this place has developed into a small town in its own right, there was a well built two story inn and a variety of small shops randomly scattered around and crude huts or tents could be seen off in the distance.
The main road used by citizen and merchants to travel between Calabar province and Waltham province was only 5 or 6 miles away, so this place was the unofficial headquarters for bandit activity in the region.
Bandits would usually rob small timers or innocent travelers and leave the big merchants or people who look like they might have some kind of esteemed background, the backlash if they overstepped their mark with these people would certainly be heavy handed.
The Bandits operating in the region knew that if either province dispatched experts to suppress them, it would cause lengthy disruptions to their operations or even losses of lives to them and their comrades so there was an unannounced and unofficial understanding between officials from both provinces and the undesirables in the cosmos region.... until now.
Recently merchants traveling on the main road have been attacked and killed or have gone missing along with their goods worth thousands of gold. After a spate of incidences like these the Baron of the province had ordered missions with hefty rewards for the eradication and dismantling of the bandit operation.

It was spiraling into a big issue because the people being robbed and killed were big contributors to the economy of the Waltham province, merchants had to be confident that the people they are paying taxes to can safeguard their lives and their investments or they would start new business ventures in other parts of the region where they felt safer.
The Baron knew that if the merchants stopped doing business or relocated to somewhere else it would leave a economic hole to be refilled by other merchants, but convincing new merchants to start businesses would be impossible if the old ones were killed at will by lawless bandits en-route to delivering their goods and services.
Merchants were greedy people by nature but even greedy people needed their lives more than money, so they would try to find a place where they could keep both their lives and their money.......
There was a black haired youth about 1.8 meters tall making his way towards the Cosmos regions, his hair was tied back with a simple piece of string, he wore grey loose robes looking neither haughty nor thrifty.
On a trail flattened by regular foot traffic with the trees on both sides swimming in dense foliage that could hide a possible ambush, the youth was mounted on a black horse as it cantered at a moderate pace moving northwards.
The sun had just dipped behind the horizon bringing a hint of darkness to the already gloomy region but he was almost at his destination.
Hartley had dealt with several small fries trying to rob him of his possessions on his journey, but they had been dispatched easily enough.
Hartley finally pulled up to the make-shift town which was very lively. Even at this early hour drunken men staggered through the street ranting at passing people, shady characters were trying to fence merchandise that were obviously stolen and random fights broke out between several people making the ambient sounds of the make-shift town a chaotic mix of screaming and arguing happening everywhere.

This was a lawless town and the law of the fittest was in full effect. In this part of the world only the bones of a civilized community existed. Trash heaps and human waste were left out in the open resulting in a foul odor dancing and wafting through the entire town as dirtied women stood in alley ways offering their services to one and all seeming to not notice the stench.
Hartley brought his horse around the back to a shed camouflaging itself as a stable and paid a couple copper coins for it to be brushed and fed.
He then made his way into the inn that had a bar serving drinks and food on the first floor, it was only half full but the boisterous atmosphere would put plenty of full bars to shame, men were laughing and drinking with women sitting on their laps, the smell of the liquor hit the senses like a hammer when walked fully in.
Hartley made his way over to a table and before he could sit someone shouted
"boy come over here and sit on my lap, such a good looking youth. Are you lost? well come and tell uncle all about it."
A burly middle aged man sat about ten meters away with a sinister grin on his face accompanied by three companions eyed Hartley up and down while licking his lips as if he was about to devour a delicacy.
These really were the deviants of society, a place where one could say something as shameless as this and no one would bat an eyelid was truly an eye opener.
Hartley flashed over in front of the burly middle age man, who in fright let go of the mug he was drinking from, before the mug could crash to pieces against the floor, the top half of his head was separated and sailed away with a line of blood pursuing it, a silver flash had sliced from just below his eyes cleanly through to the back of his head.
Remnants of the man's brain splashed across the table, onto the man's companions and in their cups. The inn suddenly went quiet as all eyes turned to stare at the handsome youth.
Hartley stood there with a long silver sword in his right hand pointed to the floor with a line of bright red blood running down to the tip then fell to the floor drip by drip.
The three men at the table scrambled backwards out of their chairs, eyes bulging with a their faces full of blood and brain fluid but before they could make their escape, they were interrupted by a shout from Hartley.
"You two" he said as he pointed at the men, "clean this mess up" and then pointed at the third man he said "you get rid of his body."
One man struggled away with the decapitated body while the other two scrambled to get rid of the blood.
Hartley flashed the excess blood from his sword and placed it in his space ring then went and sat down in a chair at a table like nothing had happened, the lively atmosphere returned to the inn immediately, these scenes were nothing new to the people who resided here.

Grey Worlds
A mysterious incident occurred on a otherwise normal science centered world where all of the children from the age range of eight to sixteen suddenly vanished. “Where have their kids gone and will they ever return?” The now childless parents never got to really ask that question, because a strange new element replaced their lost children. This element slowly mutated the various animals that they once ruled over with their technology to the point that they were immune to their modern weaponry. The barren land of savages on a continent far away from theirs also had their children taken, but they easily mutated just like the beasts and only grew stronger thanks to the incident. A revolution of animals eventually took place after the mutations started to cause the animals to understand just how badly the humans ruined their lives and planet. Humans were the slowest to figure out how to use this strange new element to evolve, while their opponents were evolving and growing stronger by the day they couldn’t even surpass their modern technology. When humanity was on the brink of extinction a long forgotten event finally ended and their children finally started to return from the various worlds they were summoned to! It turns out that the mysterious new element that they didn’t know what to call was mana and that it’s everywhere in some fantasy planets. The children brought back a increase in technology and techniques to grow stronger with, which caused the humans to finally be able to build safe havens for their race. They grew stronger and started to finally adapt to their brand new environment. This is the story of a orphan who was taken away from his world, before he could gain a sense of attachment to the world. Who only has his older sister to care about and how he ends up adapting to the new world in front of him.------------------Dog notes by doggo First 'five' chapters aren't what the story is really about and is more of a prologue. The reason why some are separated into parts is because Doggo originally posted them as a entire chapter. The main setting is Ghost's actual world and not any foreign world. So this story was already posted once to another site or this site three years ago… and Dog is finally ending that three year hiatus! The explanation on why Dog was on a three year hiatus would of been written in the review section, but rrl doesn't allow self reviews. I'd have to create a alt just to self review which they obviously don't want even tho I'd not give myself any stars so its going to be here instead. The update schedule is a chapter a week till Dog get a editor and then two chapters a week till Dog gets enough money to pay for Dog’s bills. The final goal is to release a chapter every other day. Dog writes 4k word chapters so they are about twice as long as some of the other authors so every other day is actually more like once a day. ------------------- The part that was supposed to be the 'review' which Dog wont bother editing out repeat infomation since it wasn't supposed to go here in the first place. The first thing Dog will go over is what changed for the first 5 chapters, so that anyone who still remembers Dog's little novel and wants to continue from where Dog originally left off can decide whether or not to reread it. Also Dog is moving over to qidan simply because dog like the app they have. Dog won't go premium even if Qidan tells dog to and will simply move back to royalroad or create a blog. The things that changed over the years are mainly two important things. The first is that Dog changed the first person point of view to a third person, because Dog read a really bad first person novel and it reminded dog of dogs own novel. Dog also changed the thoughts of the character to be - - instead of italics. Finally dog changed chapter 3 completely to make the mc not seem like a homicidal maniac and introduced a important character in chapter 3.What happened to do in the three years that dog was away? Was dog at college and now needs money to eat? Was dog off in space after successfully becoming a astronaut and has now returned home with a completed novel or two? The answer is actually quite plain dog graduated from highschool and was supposed to only spend a year at dogs owners house to choose what major dog wanted to go to college for.Dog didn't do that and is still stuck with dogs owners and is sick of being a neet. Dog wants to move and buy doggy food, but dog is antisocial and doesn't want to work a simple 9 to 5 job for the rest of dogs life. Dog is a reader before dog is a author and the reason why dog got into writing was because dog wanted to write a novel without all the things dog finds annoying. Dog spent the first year reading various novels and dropping various novels. Dog is all caught up and has to much free time on dogs paws. The first year that Dog took off was the very same year that qidan came out so dog was naturally overloaded with free chapters. But now that pemium exists dog naturally has to limit the amount dog can read. Dog is addicted to reading like my very own readers and can understand your frustrations for dog disappearing for 3 years.Dog decided that dog will go back to writing 2 years ago. Dog wanted a decent stockpile incase dog has any other emergency so dog didn't post for a year but then dog decided to change the point of view which took another year.Dog has a patreon page https://www.patreon.com/mclaindog but there isn't any tiers there or goals till dog gets a editor. My final goal is to release a chapter every other day, but as long as Dog gets a editor Dog will do two free chapters a week.Dog will probably also make a kofi for anyone who just wants to send dog a tip and can't afford to donate money monthly while maybe having bonus chapters if the tip jar gets filled.
