《*DISCONTINUED*》Chapter 6 : The Core Disciple Battle Begins

That day Feng Xing sucessfuly broke through to the 6th rank. He now could fight on par with 9th rank cultivators, his body was already comparable to someone of the early stages of the Martial Path realm. He also had much more Energy stored up in his body than others. He clearly was happy about these facts.
"Feng Xing!" and old voice yelled outside his room. He knew that it was elder Ran.
"Master Shui. What's the matter?" Feng Xing answered. He still didn't know why the elder needed him for.
"I want to introduce you to some other core disciples in hope that you will become good friends with them." Elder Ran obviously wanted to let Feng Xing become familiar with other elders and their disciples.
"Alright." Feng Xing also wanted to know how strong the core disciples were in this sect so he went along.
Moonfire Elder Training Hall
This Training Hall was specifically made for elders and their disciples. Right now a few elders were all sitting at a table in the hall happily chatting.
"First Grand Elder. You sure struck gold this time! Xiao Ling is a heaven defying genius!" The elders were now praising the first grand elders disciple.
"Ahahahaha, you're being to humble third elder. Your disciple isn't bad either." The first grand elder obviously felt prideful.
By now they noticed Feng Xing and elder Ran.
"Second Grand Elder, over here!" One of the elders merrily invited.
"Hahaha, so you also got yourself a disciple." The first grand elder stared at Feng Xing.
Feng Xing actually didn't care about this meeting. He only wanted to see how strong the geniuses here were.
While the elders were chatting, the disciples were also obviously chatting at another table. Feng Xing saw this and walked over to them.
"Hey, can I join your conversation?" Feng Xing always asks politely first.
"6th rank? What is someone like you even doing here..." A youth that seemed to be bulky and 17 years old said. He didn't even put someone like Feng Xing in his eyes.
"I'm the second grand elders disciple..." Feng Xing said.
"What!? someone like you can be a Grand Elders disciple!?" The core disciples were now all shocked. Even they couldn't become a Grand Elders disciple, only the best of the best could. They just couldn't believe someone like Feng Xing was one.
The core disciples now were careful with their words. They didn't want to offend someone who had the backing of a Grand Elder.

At this moment a stunning girl entered the hall.
"Ah its Senior Sister Xiao Ling!" One of the youths yelled.
Even Feng Xing was momentarily shocked by her beauty. Shiny black hair, creamy white skin with a seductive face of a perfect goddess. Was someone like her even from the Mortal Realm... Feng Xing thought.
Xiao Ling was only 15 this year, but because of her status as a disciple of a Grand Elder, she was called Senior Sister.
This was not the most shocking part to Feng Xing, he obviously felt a Martial Path aura from her.
"This talent! She could even be compared to the super geniuses from Dragon Continent!" Feng Xing now had a shocked expression on his face for the first time since his reincarnation.
"The heavens weren't fair at all!" Feng Xing sighed.
"Greetings, Senior Sister!" All the youths greeted. They all had red faces. It was obvious that they liked this so-called Senior Sister of theirs.
Xiao Ling didn't put this at heart at all. She casually sat on one of the chairs and took a book out and began reading. She was emitting a cool feeling.
Feng Xing also casually sat on a chair and waited till the elders announced something. He already knew how strong most of these geniuses were, most of them were at the 7th rank and some of them were at the 8th while one youth was at the 9th rank. Only the girl named Xiao Ling was above the 9th rank.
The only 6th rank cultivator here was Feng Xing...
The elders were now done chatting and began to move towards Feng Xing and the other disciples. The First Grand Elder walked in front, while looking at Xiao Ling with a proud face.
"Now that all of you have gathered, we wanted to have core disciple rankings!" It was obvious now what the elders wanted to know! They wanted to know whose disciple was the strongest!
The First Grand Elder was still smiling because he knew that only his disciple was at the Martial Path realm.
"You guys will not be fighting individually as that would take a long time! You guys will be fighting in teams!" The First Grand Elder exclaimed.
All the youths now were still happily chatting away and even teaming up with others, only Feng Xing, another youth and Xiao Ling weren't teaming up currently.
"The personal disciples of the Three Grand Elders will be forming one group!"

Feng Xing was a bit surprised at this outcome. To be in the same team as this heaven defying genius, he clearly felt a bit lucky.
The other youths name was Zhao Kon, he was at the 9th rank of the Tempering Path currently. He clearly liked Xiao Ling as he was constantly staring at her since the beginning...
There currently were 3 teams visible including Feng Xings team. The first one contained 8 core disciples while the second one only contained 4. The second one was almost as small as Feng Xings group, but the disciples in that group were all at the 8th rank.
You could say it was kinda evenly balanced except for Feng Xings group who had someone of the Martial Path realm...
"Guess, I don't even have to do a single thing this time..." Feng Xing thought. A Martial Path cultivator had True Energy and was clearly much stronger than a Tempering Path cultivator.
The difference between the two realms was like Heaven and Earth. Almost no Tempering Path cultivator could defeat a Martial path cultivator.
"All teams will be participating at the same time! Give it your best because there will be a reward for the top team!" The First Grand Elder exclaimed.
The hall luckily was huge enough to be a battlefield.
"You will all be given 5 minutes to think of a strategy to win, and Xiao Ling as we all know that you are in the Martial Path realm already. You must limit your cultivation base to the 9th rank of the Tempering Path!. The elders already knew that it wouldn't be interesting if a Martial Path cultivator was participating so they wanted to limit her cultivation base.
"As you wish." Xiao Ling calmly answered without any emotion in her voice, but even then her voice sounded very soothing and pleasant to hear.
"Ah.. should of have known something like this would happen..." Feng Xing sighed, he already suspected a tiny bit something like this to happen. Otherwise it would be way to easy for their team to win.
"It seems to be that I actually have something to do this time..." Facing multiple opponents with several ranks higher than his was also taxing for Feng Xing after all, but as long as no Martial Path cultivators participate. Nothing could really harm him.
"This should prove to be no problem..." Feng Xing was fully confident.
While the other two groups were talking and thinking about a strategy, Feng Xings group stayed quiet...
5 minutes later.
"Alright, you may all start fighting after I give the sign."
Every team moved to their respective starting points. A fight was going to start...
"Start!" The First Grand elder gave his sign.
By now the two groups actually focused Feng Xings group first. They knew that only defeating Xiao Ling and Zhao Kon would mean that one of their teams would be able to win.
"...Shit. Eventhough I expected one of the teams to rush at us. Both actually did..." Feng Xing didn't want to show his true strength at all. He could now only hope the other two could manage to defeat them, while he gave support.
The elders were now currently asking about the Second Grand Elders disciple. Every Grand Elders disciple was outstanding after all.
"Grand Elder Ran, please tell us why picked someone of the 6th rank." One of the elders asked. Most of them were also wondering about this.
"Because that boy's special..." Grand Elder Ran said while looking sharply at Feng Xing.
The other elders were momentarily stunned.
"Special?" They thought.
"Let's just watch how this plays out." The First Grand Elder casually said while also looking at Xiao Ling.
"Don't disappoint me, Xiao Ling." The First Grand elder thought. He had great expectation from Xiao Ling after all.
"I'll take on the group of four while you take on the group of eight." Xiao Ling said to Zhao Kon without even looking at Feng Xing. It seemed to her that a 6th rank cultivator didn't even mean anything in her eyes.
"I'll try to help." Feng Xing suggested.
"No, don't do anything. You would only be a burden." Zhao Kon coldly stared at Feng Xing. He obviously wanted to be alone in a group with Xiao Ling, but because of this new so-called Grand Elders disciple he couldn't.
Feng Xing didn't have any good feelings toward this Zhao Kon at all.
"Fine, suit yourselves..." Feng Xing sat and crossed his legs while closing his eyes. He seemed to not care anymore.
"Second Grand Elder... your disciple... just what is he doing?"
All the elders looked at Feng Xing with weird looks.
"I'm not to sure... lets just continue to watch on." Grand Elder Ran was still trying to figure Feng Xing out.

Blood & Noodles
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] As they always have, humanity hunts the gods roaming the world, craving the supernatural power that flows within their veins. Even a drop is zealously guarded, passed from master to student through the ages. It is with this stolen power that the Blooded - those with divine blood coursing through them - grasp beyond mortality and achieve prestige, power, and greatness. Yet, for every fraction of power gained, thousands perish, slain by the gods' supernatural prowess. But everything is beginning to change. Eight years ago, for the first time in human memory, a god was felled. Part-time chef and full-time nuisance Orvi wants nothing to do with gods. Living in a derelict city, his only concerns are ensuring his adopted family's restaurant is prosperous and how to best beat the neighbourhood boys in a fight. If he's lucky, he might even snag a date with the farmer's daughter at the market. But even though he cares nothing for the gods or their blood, the world won't leave him alone forever. Because to reach godhood, one must first leave their humanity behind. *** The first arc of Blood & Noodles follows the adolescent Orvi as he attempts to navigate his rapidly changing home and - by his own definition - protect his family. The story is told almost entirely in the first-person, from the perspective of a teenager who isn't always the sharpest tool in the shed. There are tragic elements, especially in the current arc. It's character-focused and driven, though the protagonist's shenanigans are backdropped by a world operating independently from him. Orvi's a generally light-hearted character, and though the story veers into darker territory, I also want it to be able to make readers smile. Action sequences, despite the fantastical elements, are meant to be grounded and clearly-conveyed; Orvi is a brawler, not a warrior. I'm trying to write a story that's enjoyable to read and flows nicely, mainly because it's more fun to write. I'm also trying to improve my writing, so any feedback, whether positive or negative, is welcome!

The London Phantom: A Superhero Webnovel
London is an old city. It has survived floods, fires, plagues and the man-made smog of industry. It has stood firm against the armies of Vikings, Saxons, Normans and the aerial might of the Luftwaffe. It has borne witness to dynsatic feuds, civil wars, military occupation and the sin of regicide. Through all these disasters the city has survived not through force of arms, though its walls were once the envy of the world, but through adapting to the times. Enemies become dependant on the city, and the wealth of the world that flows through it, and so become new allies. If the rulers change, then the city welcomes them with open arms, and open lines of credit. In this way the city seeks to preserve its ancient rights and position of power. Superheroes are a new phenomenon. The first superpowered man walked out of the Nevada desert in 1950, and the world was forever changed. Across the planet, men and women with exceptional abilities made themselves known. At first, they were little more than another source of fear in the era of Mutually Assured Destruction, but over time attitudes changed and the concept of the Superhero was created in the city of Los Angeles. From there the phenomenon spread across the globe; superheroes went from being feared arms of the state to a symbol of hope in these maddening times. Times have changed. Sixty years from the emergence of the first superhero, the City of London stands on a precipice. Two years have passed since the madman Fawkes nearly brought down the United Kingdom and the remnants of the Bow Street Runners, London's premier superhero team, are struggling to keep order in a city that seems on the brink of collapse. London stands on a knife's edge, with criminal organisations that once stuck to the shadows becoming more bold, and ancient powers from myth and legend making themselves known. Alexander Laszewski has recently 'awakened' and has become entirely unremakable, effectively making himself invisible to the world. He must use his newfound power to navigate a city on the edge of collapse. If only he could figure out how to turn it off.
