Chapter 30:
Sending Them On Their Way
--- --- ---
“Damn! Was the headmaster really injured?! How could she still have so much power left…” Darma cursed under his breath as he barely dodged a sharp icicle to the left.
“Our reports were off...Headmaster Ember was never injured!” Adam said grimly as he nimbly step between several beam attacks.
“So we’re going to get beat up for no reason?!” Karl said indignantly. Now that they found that the Headmaster was not injured but instead still had their full vitality, the battle had turned for the worst. Under normal circumstances, while the nine elders could hold back Headmaster Ember, it could not last forever.
Not even putting in the factors about skills, just the large disparity between SP level would cause the nine elders to tire out much quicker than the headmaster!
While the nine continued to clashed against the headmaster, the ground suddenly trembled slightly.
*Boooooooom!*
The elders and headmaster quickly leaped away from each other as they all turned their head towards the sound of the explosion.
“What’s going on? Did something happen on the rooftop?” James asked as he squinted his eyes, trying to see through the thick smokes on the rooftop.
“Oh no! The princes are not here!” A Golden Phoenix Clan elder spoke out in worry.
“What?!” The other elders were instantly alarmed as they looked around. In the end, their eyes landed back on the rooftop.
“Could it...the princes are up there?!” Darma said with a dark face.
“Look! The smoke is clearing!” Another elder shouted.
They all stared at the rooftop as the smoke slowly cleared.
“It’s no use, the angle is off. We will not be able to see what’s up there without going up personally.” Adam said as he leaped towards the school’s rooftop.
But just as he leaped into the midair, being halfway up the school’s building, a shadow suddenly shot downward. Its speed was impeccably quick, so much that before Adam could dodge or block, his vision was instantly covered by a large palm.
Unable to resist against the force, Adam was abruptly pushed downward as the shadow, gripping Adam’s face with its palm, smashed him into the ground ruthlessly.
*Bam!*
With another swing of his hand, the shadow threw a large “stack” towards the eight elders. Like Adam, they were unable to move out of the way fast enough before the “stack” slammed into them as well.

But when the elders saw what the “stack” was, their face immediately paled.
“P-prince Dullan!”
“My god! Prince Virsha!”
“Prince Mero! Prince Mero! What happened?! Speak to me! Ahh!!”
The elders were instantly thrown into chaos and panic when they saw their princes’ charred and mutilated bodies. If not for the barely recognizable emblems on their chest, indicating their Clan’s status, the elders may have been unable to recognize them! Even the faces were badly damaged.
“Who did this! Ahhh! It must you! I’ll kill you!” An elder from the Rossia Clan screamed in rage as he leaped towards the figure who had threw the “stack” at them.
Seeing the madly approaching elder, Vinci looked on coldly as he suddenly burst forward. Before the elder could react properly, Vinci had already appeared before him, gripping the elder’s neck, and lifting him up high in front of him. Without any further words, Vinci applied force in his grip.
*Crack!*
The elder barely struggled for a few seconds before his neck was snapped by Vinci. Afterwards, Vinci’s right hand, which was gripping the elder’s broken neck, glowed a light purple hue as informations began to flood into his brain. A while later, the glow died out and Vinci casually let go of his grip as the elder from the Rossia Clan dropped lifelessly to the ground.
Behind him, Adam was slowly getting back on his feet as he glared hideously at the boy before him. This was the first time he had been shamed by someone much younger than him. He did not even pay attention to the dead elder at Vinci’s feet, in his rage.
Headmaster Ember, who was standing further away, smiled in relief when she saw Vinci. A moment before, she had been worrying that a student at the Academy might’ve been hurt at the rooftop because of the three princes. But if that student was Vinci, then there was no need for the Headmaster Ember to worry. Moreover, the three corpses before her was already proof enough that there was no need for her worry.
If even she could not defeat the boy, how could merely three Duke Rankers do the job?
“Y-you dare kill the princes! Our Major Clans will never let you off!” James growled as he glared daggers at Vinci.
Vinci glanced around him for a moment before calmly speaking: “Not only do I dare kill the princes, I am going to exterminate and take over your entire Clans as well. But before that, I’ll be extracting some informations from you all.”

“What?! Insolent brat, we’ll kill you right now!” James screamed as he pounced towards Vinci, rapidly chanting up an offensive spell.
“My life is not for someone like you to take.” Vinci lightly said as he lifted his index finger in front of him. “Seal the space and time, «Monochrome Pause».”
A tiny gray crest appeared at the tip of Vinci’s index finger before it glowed brightly for a moment. The surrounding suddenly took on a black and white, almost monochrome, color. A light wind which was blowing across the yard a moment ago stopped, just like how the elders, headmaster, and students had stopped. Time, at this moment, was frozen.
Vinci slowly stepped towards James as he placed his hand on the latter’s head. His palm glowed a light purple as information once again flooded Vinci’s brain. He repeated this process with the other seven elders before he nodded in satisfaction.
“Hmm, these people are really the high leveled members of their clans. I was able to get so much datas from merely just the nine of them, saving me time from going around to gather more intel. Even what the Headmaster had told me about them, could not compare to me directly getting an insider view.” Vinci said as he looked around him.
“Now, I guess I’ll send them along the way.” Vinci said, his voice having turned as cold as the freezing winter.
Positioning him right behind James, Vinci deactivated his «Monochrome Pause». Although this time-stopping spell was powerful, during its activation, the user would not be able to attack at all. Moreover, for each second the spell was on, a large amount of SP would be consumed. Generally, no one would be able to use «Monochrome Pause», much less keep it on for more than two seconds at best. But because of Vinci’s immeasurable tank of SP, he was able to maintain the spell for a much longer period.
«Monochrome Pause» is also technically used as a support spell to escape a dangerous situation, rather than being used as an offensive spell.
“H-huh?! Wh-where did he go?” James let out a surprised cry when he saw that Vinci was not in front of him anymore. In the blink of a moment, the boy was gone from his sight. How was that even possible?!
“Hello, I’m over here, gramps. And now, goodbye.” A cold voice resonated from behind James.
A chill spread through James’ spine when he heard Vinci’s voice behind him. He had no idea how the boy even got behind him in the first place! But before James could leap away and gather himself, he felt a sharp pain on his chest.
Looking down, James was baffled to see a huge hole in the middle of the chest. In place of where his chest and stomach had been, was a round bloody hole.
*Phff!*
James coughed a mouthful of flood as he fell lifelessly forward on the ground. Hie eyes were still wide with disbelief and fear.
The seven elders their back matted with sweat when they saw what happened to James. They, too, were unable to see how Vinci had gotten behind James. They weren’t even able to see how Vinci had attacked either.
All they saw was Vinci placing his hand in front of James back, before a sudden hole was punctured. There was barely any incantations either.
“Voiceless Chanting…” Adam softly whispered as he stared at Vinci. By now, he had cooled down his feelings and was able to think level-headed once more. But even he was unable to keep his calm when he saw Vinci’s display of strength.
It was only now did the elders notice how young Vinci looked.
“Who is he...harboring such power at a young age…” Karl muttered as he looked at Vinci with dread.
“Could he be from another Major Clan? But that’s impossible...I’ve never heard a Clan being able to produce such a strong, young person before.” Another elder said quietly.
They were all extremely wary in the presence of Vinci, now that they had seen his might. The seven elders had almost forgotten about Headmaster Ember, too.
“Wh-who are you?” Darma asked, his voice having lost the initial rage and arrogance in them. There was even a tinge of fear in his voice.
Vinci turned around and glanced at Darma. With a faint, cold smile, he said:
“Me? I’m the new Headmaster.”

Cornucopia of Hope
The graduating class of Hope's Peak Academy has been kidnapped sometime after their graduation ceremony. They wake up in a beautiful, plush mansion with no idea where they could be other than the name Our Mansion of Plenty. The physical barriers of steel plates and locked doors might not be enough to cage them, if it weren't for the malicious mechanical fairy calling itself The Fey and ruling their new lives with an iron--albeit tiny--fist. While being kidnapped is bad enough, the fact that this fairy brat is telling them to kill each other is definitely worse. Apparently, murdering one of your fellow victims is the only way to get out of this luxurious mansion. But nobody would do that...right? Cornucopia of Hope is a non-canon killing game completely alienated from the the canon universe of the Danganronpa games. The things borrowed from the games are as followed: Hope's Peak Academy, and the structure of 16ish hyper-skilled teenagers trapped in an enclosed space and being subjected to a motive, a murder, an investigation, a trial, and an execution of the presumed killer. There are no spoilers, tie ins, or previous knowledge required of the series to read this story!

The Ingress Estate
Jonathon Eucole. Soldier. Scholar. Now an Initiate, the dedication without dedication, he finds himself both prisoner and master of an arcane edifice, the Ingress Estate, which can neither be escaped, nor controlled; only diverted, maintained, and pacified. This is a gothic fantasy story, set in a world in which gods and the afterlife are not only real and known, but were both established in living memory of some of the inhabitants after millennia of arcane warfare with the being who constructed the mundane reality the humans occupy. But this isn't the story of those who colonized the afterlife at the cost of their own humanity, but a somewhat more ordinary man, in somewhat extraordinary circumstances. This is also a LitRPG-lite, which means there's a system of sorts, fragments of which can be observed through Jonathon's eyes. Don't expect level-up screens, or statistics, or indeed numbers much at all, beyond those the inhabitants of the world itself apply to understanding their own reality. It pretty much doesn't matter to the story, I mention it so those who don't want to read LitRPG at all can successfully avoid it here. I don't have any particular plan here, just some ideas inherent in the genre. This is a character concept I toyed with some years ago; an old man, bright of mind but weighed down into apathy, both by his past and his responsibilities for a terrible estate that cannot be left without stewardship. Don't expect any kind of overarching plot or story, because that's really not what this is about. Also don't expect much dialogue. Or character development. Or much of anything, really, because I've planned nothing in the way of an actual book, here. Other relevant information, if you've read this far for some reason: The MC isn't super-powerful to begin with, and probably never will be. He's a veteran with some useful skills, and the insight on how to use them, so can deal with the world's ordinary threats reasonably well, but not too much beyond that. --- Currently on hiatus, as currently the story has a rather poor ratio of effort-to-personal-payoff. I may return to this once I have a clear idea of how to get the stories where I want them. I've started a more standard LitRPG using the same system. But if you like intelligence characters who cleverly min-max their classes, it probably isn't the story for you; it's the story of a rather ordinary guy who winds up in a very similar universe.
