Chapter 576: [ What he loves the most, is Freedom! (2) ]
“… But that Dragon King is extremely powerful…! I fear the master can’t…”
Qin was still worried.
“It’s fine… just like what he said, stand up when he fails. As long as he is alive, everything still has hope and I believe that. I will put my life on the line… to protect him, you don’t need to worry about that, Qin. Let him be like this, it’s our duty to clean the aftermath…!” Mireya grinned.
If this became a mistake, in the end, it is my duty to receive the consequences… no matter what it is…
“…if you say so…” Qin sighed.
Meanwhile, Allen and the Dragon King stared fixedly at each other without moving their gazes.
“Hey… tell me your name…” The Dragon King suddenly asked.
Allen smiled, “Of course. My name is Allen Bando, the Monster King of Envy…!”
“A good name… I am P’thala, the Dragon King of the Southern Sea and the Monster King of Azure Sky. Oh, Kin of mine… let this glorious battle be deserving in the annals of history…!”
Boooomm!!!
At the same time, both disappeared and at the center, two silhouettes flashed. Following a deafening explosion rang out, causing a ripple appeared in the air.
A burning killer intent was emitted from the Dragon King in all directions.
A strange power gathered around him, showing the symbol of his power.
It was such an overwhelming power that even Allen could sense it despite upgrading himself.
“… Ha ha, play with me…!”
Allen’s voice had barely faded when he saw the bluish-white image flash in front of him. The Dragon King’s palm swept with a 'whoosh' as it came towards him; it was aimed at his chest. The air also echoed with a "whoosh" sound…
Boooomm!!
After that explosive sound, the space around Allen seemed to have distorted.
“… Speed is not your only forte!”
It couldn't be avoided. Allen had never expected that the Dragon King would possess such great speed. Allen’s expression suddenly became cold. But, he didn't try to dodge. Instead, he merely struck back with his hand. He was up against one of the world strongest Dragon King in the world of the Gods. He can’t be careless and show him mercy!
"HaaAAhHH—!!"
The Dragon King looked upwards as Allen’s fist brushed past his cheek. However, Allen was also able to avoid his strike as a result. The two of them had moved in a similar manner. Both of them had moved their legs backward…
While chuckling in amusement, the Dragon King’s leg moved like lightning as it kicked Allen’s waist.
Allen’s right leg moved similarly as he aimed a kick at the Dragon King’s abdomen. The Dragon King’s hand circled above at the same time. His fingers then curled into hooks as he grabbed at Allen’s eye, wanting to take his vision. However, Allen didn’t retreat and evade and instead, his hand also turned into a Dragon’s Claw as he grabbed his target; but, his target was the Dragon’s King’s throat!

Those two experts had started fighting to vent the anger they had been accumulating inside. They were tangled together, and neither was willing to give in.
The Dragon King made a feint with his left hand and instead, he drove his right palm in the form of a sharp claw strike towards Allen. Seeing this, Allen’s face fell down. The other saw that Allen was fooled by the left hand, after all, there was a saying that a ‘Spectators can see what the players cannot!’ they can see everything that had happened in the battle with a clear view.
Seeing this, Qin started to become anxious, “Master, look out!!”
“Oh no! This is?!”
Mireya also frowned. Although she would never think that Allen would lose but see something like this, still make her heart jumped wildly; “Husband! Dodge! Y-You can't block that!"
The others as well, exclaimed, "Quick, dodge that attack, Master!!!"
However, Mireya and everyone else did not expect Allen to still look so calm at this moment; there was no change in his appearance at all. He did not dodge, instead of raising his hands in a seemingly slow manner, although it was actually a very fast motion!
Allen raised his hands and flicked his wrists, forming a strange rhythm that alternated between fast and slow. He warded off the Dragon King’s Claw strike with his wrist. For a second, it seemed like they froze there. Right afterward, Allen pivoted. Swinging his wrist downward, his opponent's strength was coolly negated with the move. That swinging of the wrist had somehow diverted all of his opponent's momentum into thin air!
The claw strike was stopped!
The Dragon King was also stopped!
“…?!!”
It wasn't like the Dragon King wanted to stop where he was. During the attack of his palm strike, he was in a constant state of motion. Just like a runner could not come to a halt all of a sudden, he required a buffer and time to come to a complete stop! But the scene that played out before the Dragon King's eyes had slightly surprised him. He had been stopped just like that even though he was moving very quickly before that. All of his strength was suddenly reduced to nothing as he lost all of his momenta, leaving him standing there! In fact, it’s as if he had thrown all his power into the punch but instead of his opponent, he felt as if he had struck a wall of cotton, his power strangely disappeared.
It was a very strange sight to behold!
So strange that it felt unbelievable!
The Dragon King was stunned!
The other people who were watching the battle as well were shocked!

Nobody in the crowd could react, all staring up at the two people with surprise!
"What's the matter?"
"Why is his Majesty; P’thala stopped? What's the matter?"
"Wha-What just happened here?"
"Who can tell me what just happened?"
"Could it be that his Majesty was holding back? He was worried that he would strike him dead with just a single palm strike?"
No one could understand what they were seeing. They could only convince themselves that the Dragon King had held back, afraid that his attack would be too heavy on his opponent, so had decreased the strength behind his palm strike to minimize any damage!
However, only the Dragon King, several of his subordinates, and Mireya, Qin, Fiona, Asmodeus and several others could see clearly. Although they did not know what had happened, they knew that this was not a matter of the Dragon King holding back his strength!
The face of the humanoid dragons, part of the Dragon King’s entourage, grew cold with fear.
"Father, be careful!"
When the girl shouted that, many of the people from the surrounding, including those Dragons and subordinates of the Dragon King were stunned!
Be careful?
Be careful of what?
Why would his Majesty have to be careful?
But as it turned out, the next second, everyone understood exactly why that girl had shouted those words of caution!
Allen smiled strangely and followed up with a move which was different from before. This time, he actively sought to attack with a very odd-looking set of moves. His palm struck out not in a straight line but rather moved along an imaginary arc in midair. This palm strike started off slow but gathered speed while moving along the curved trajectory and pushed toward the Dragon King!
It wasn't a cross!
It wasn't a vertical chop!
It was just a simple push!
Logically, such a move would not have much offensive strength. The Dragon King was alert and immediately blocked it with his own palm, which was covered with his magic power to block it and counter-attack. His dragon claws shone brightly with azure color and shot towards Allen’s direction. But Allen did not dodge, or rather; there was no time to do so.
A strange force, different from magic power, made him push his hand out, carrying an unbroken and ceaseless strength along with it. His hand imbued with Xuan Qi. All of this was done instinctively. Allen did not really have full control of it!
BoooOOmmmMM—!!!
The two attacks collided in midair!
Allen felt an enormous force explode out from his palms, then the corners of his mouth twitched and his entire person trembled as he stumbled back a few steps!
The two fighters flew back at the same time. Allen staggered back a few steps and stood still. Looking at the Dragon King across from him, the latter was also destabilized as he took a large step backward. His flow of magic power was disrupted and his hand had a few cuts on it!
“Oh?!”
The Dragon King exclaimed from the power he had felt. It was completely different from magic power but it has some explosive and wild power within it that can actually pierce through his magical defense. “…I’m impressed, so you’re not just all talk…”
His magic power was disturbed by that strange flow, causing Allen’s attack to penetrate his defense.
If it was magic power, it would stop—just like two things similar, repelling each other. In a contest between magic power, strong and weak would be the factor of losing or winning the fight. However, when something strange was mixed in, the magic power in his body would be disrupted—just like what had occurred just now.
The Dragon King was really surprised—although he knows that there were several kinds of energy in the world, and Magic Power was only one of them, he had never encountered someone who had two or more kinds of energy within one body before!
Truly shocking…!
Allen grinned. His right arm shone brightly, covered by magic power while his left arm seemed to be have been covered by a thin filament—Xuan Qi.
“Although, I am indeed weaker than you, that doesn’t mean I am helpless against you!”
“Indeed… you are really good… better than I had thought you are.” The Dragon King shook his hand lightly and the cuts on his hand immediately healed without a trace. “…I will take back what I say to you a while ago, you are indeed one of us…!”
“…being acknowledge by someone like you, I guess it doesn’t sound bad at all!” Allen then made a fighting stance. He smiled faintly and coughed. Although he looks calm and confident, in fact, this thrilling exchange had left him fearful in his heart. “…this time, I will take the advantage…!”
"… You talk really big!"
Allen laughed, "Ha ha, that's because you do not know me."

Luck And Chronomancy
Time Magic is the best magic as everyone knows, although there are lots of unique Talents in the world. Most people only remember Haste because it is hard to get to higher Phases of Chronomancy. That is still enough to make the Talent iconic. A lucky enough Aleatory Talent can position you for greatness or leave you languishing in obscurity. The only true equality in the world is when that glowing message pops up at 8 years old. Even if it doesn't activate until you are an adult at 16 you still know. Sure you can find a new dungeon spawn and get another chance at a rare Talent, even this one, but you have to already be ready to delve into the *Far Wilds*, which is far easier with wealth or family power. This is the story of where my good fortune took me and the difference it made, even among a party of 7 others including an Arcanist. It is a journey of magic and monsters but also math, which some think is actually worse. Luckily I was born with Intelligence and Focus as my personal traits, and my parents were scholars. Of course Chronomancy can also be a frontline combat talent. Versitility well beyond other Elder Talents like Gravity, Abstraction, or Arcana. Might could have worked for me, too. I also met a runaway princess. All the best adventures have a princess. She hated being a noble and we didn't get married but it still counts. Besides she really filled out our front line. All that Leadership training came in handy. I still don't know where she's from. Who cares? How well Haste goes with giant hammers is what's important. I never learned much about anyone in the party, except the one I grew up with. I'm not a people person. I just wanted to optimize dungeon clearing time. *******Story Details******* No romance, politics, or traumatizing content, slice of life, or even dialogue. 1st person narration, like a guide/adventure log. 2000-7000 words a day, maybe 40-60% rpgish combat log with some reasoning on combat decisions, with the rest character Talent discussion and progression stuff. 8 person party with a decent variety in roles. Party members usually have 2 primary functions. Told from the support/control Chronomancer's perspective. Each party member will have 6 Basic/Background Traits, then 3 actual Talents with abilities. Capstone from their Educational Institution, Arbritrary as a gift from the temples, and Aleatory which is decided at birth, revealed at 8, and activated after adulthood at 16. Aleatory Traits ignore requirements and are random why is why they are so important. They'll gain new Talents from finding Dungeons to consume in the *Wilds*. Mature dungeons in cities can provide *Challenges* to raise the Phase of a Talent, up to 3 times from 1 to 4. Each character will get to roughly 8 non-Trait Talents. Attributes come exclusive from Talents, are required by Talents, and provide various effects as well. I designed about 220 Talents with abilities, 4 in each of 4 phases. "Traits" are just Attribute stuff. I'm not sure how many will be detailed in the story, more than 100 for sure. I used Talents because I want to be free of the legacy of tabletop. Half those rules are just because of the limitations inherent in a pre-computer ttrpg. This story mostly uses combat Talents, although like 1/3 of the 220 are for crafting and other society and economy stuff. If you really wanted to be a Thief you might take Intuition, Awarness, and Might for Basic Traits and Deftness, Manipulation, and Trickery for Family/Education. Then you'd pick Acrobatics, and Climbing for Educational Capstone and Arbitrary traits. You Aleatory Trait might be Shadow(Light/Dark) Magic, Umbramancy. A Bard might swap Dexterity for Charisma, Music for Acrobatics, and have gotten Illusion(Shadow/Sound(Air/Force)) for their Aleatory Trait.
