《Checkpoint》Take two

Mal’s thoughts returned gradually as they got up from their safe house (not anymore at least), an abandoned grey honka odyssey crashed into a flood relief channel (yes, I had to look it up). after crawling through a rolled down window, they rubbing their head, as they grumbled to themself “shit, how far did I go back?” Rummaging through their backpack for their sportswatch, eventually finding it.
”aha, now let’s see what day it is, wait… shit, it’s still broken” Mal rambled on, “fuck, when did I break this thing?” Mal asked themselves as they browsed their notes, eventually finding what they sought for.
REMINDER
I tripped on my own foot, and broke my watch on Tuesday
“You know what, I hate myself sometimes” mal mused to themself. Mal may be resourceful enough to live in a apocalypse, but only because they can’t die, the fact that they got this far was from sheer luck.
Thinking back, mal recalled The doctor fellows in the past had said that they had ADHD or Attention defica- defaucet- Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.
“Man I’d kill for a working pharmacy right now” they said to no one in particular.
Shaking off their stupidity for a moment, mal flipped through the pages after the super helpful watch note until they found the latest date they entered.
August 4, 2067, Thursday
I really need to pee right now, wait why am I writing this? I could just go. God, I’m such a-
“ok, so it is at least August 4, I think the collision dropped by on Saturday, so I gotta get outta here quick” Mal informed the cold empty air, then began packing up their belongings: a torn sleeping bag, crowbar, cereal box rations, water bottles, a dull chef’s knife, poncho, wood ax, flashlight, trusty notebook and pen, and their dead phone.

after packing everything into their backpack, and looking like they were going on a hike, Mal finally did what they said said they were going to do and trekked out. Well, they had to check which direction the collision was coming from first, so they didn’t walk into another over zealous guy with table leg or something. But, point is that they got a move on, unaware that their destination was more dangerous than their previous one. ——————————————————
If mal had access to the internet or news, that way they could of known about the Leapfrog virus caused by the most recent pulses of unknown energy, better known as The Happenings, which caused the infected to violently attack anything but each other, and bound forward on all fours like if they were playing leapfrog with each other. In short, zombies. At least the collision is staying the hell away from there.
But, as stated, mal continued forward and eventually found themself in a plaza at dawn, where they settled down in an abandoned Big Brutus pizzeria, after prying of some boards at the window, thinking to themselves ‘why would someone board up such a good place’
after sweeping the dirt and dead bugs into the corner, and rolling out their sleep wear, Mal was ready to settle down. until anxiety kicked in, and they jury rigged chairs to the doors, and pushed an pizza oven over the window they entered from for good measure. THEN they settled down while announcing “hello new home” to the empty building.
or Maybe it was the roach that crawled out from underneath the freezer, but they said hi to the roach separately, so maybe not. Giving their new abode a last look, they attempted to sleep. Attempted

Vigilantes Make Us Safe: Rebel Rebel
When the world was on the brink in the 1940s a group of men and women with uncommon ability pulled the world from the brink. They inspired generations to come and led to a golden age of vigilantes protecting the world. Times change. By the early 2000s almost nowhere was willing to tolerate unregulated men and women dispensing their own form of justice. The dawn of the internet made operating in the shadows virtually impossible. Everyone thought the days of vigilantes were done but presidential candidate Richard Hughes, riding a wave of populism, has promised to bring these men and women into the light and empower them to keep us all safe. The passing of the Vigilantes Making Us Safe Act changes everything. All teenagers feel like they don’t fit in at times. Ryaan Asfour knows the feeling well. As part of an immigrant family in a country turning against immigrants, there’s a lot of people who don’t think he belongs. The election of Richard Hughes and the passage of the Vigilantes Making Us Safe Act hasn’t helped matters. Suddenly anyone who wants to discriminate can just say they’re keeping people safe and do whatever they want. Sudden popularity at school after hitting a game winning shot makes it even more apparent how much he doesn’t fit in with the rest of his world. A clash with a pair of vigilantes on his way home from school puts things in perspective. What can Ryaan do to protect his family and his neighborhood? Vigilantes Making Us Safe will follow a variety of lead characters including Serenity, Toxic, Hitbox, the Rebel and more. I'll keep the cover image and title updated to reflect the current protagonist but I encourage you to check them all out.

Re:Serpent, the Struggles of a 'Snake' to Survive and Evolve...
*Heyo, Evil Overlord here. As some may know, I am the main editor of VanZans, and his fiction, Those Who Aspire to Become Gods. If you do not know, check his work out and see for yourself. This is my first story to test my skills as a writer and a story teller. This may or may not be continued depending on my choice, and available time I have.*Hello, ghost audience, my name is Heibai. It stands for black and white in Chinese, and yes I am Asian, though I grew up in America. I was an orphan, now adopted into a rare family dojo in Chinatown in a certain state. Now I am reincarnated into a 'snake'...killed by a goddamn truck, conjured by fate's sick sense of entertainment, and died attempting to save my sister (she is not related by blood by the way) when I tried to shield her from harm, and here I am...in a new world, primitive, war-torn, and semi-corrupt. Disgusted by the contents of this fantasy world, I must survive and discover the truth to my sudden...rebirth...and find my sister if she is also here, human or not. My main goal of this story...is to fight on and learn as much as I can, and my secondary goal, to see if I can return home...human or NOT.*Might include blood and some gore
