《Modern Deity》Chapter 2: Bloodrage Technique: First Stage

After waking up, Kyte decided to not go to school. It was the end of the school year anyway so he wasn't necessarily required to attend school. So, after finishing his morning routine, he arrived back in his room.
In his bedroom, Kyte started to think about the information that was given to him by the Inheritance. The power levels are like a steady progression, however, there are always exceptions to everything. There are fifteen stages to the Bloodrage technique, but only the first six stages were revealed. There are three levels to every stage, being low, mid, and high. Each progression to the next stage requires more and more time, so the higher stage Kyte is, the longer it will be to get to the next stage.
The first six stages are: Novice, Knight, Earth, Spirit, Sentinel, and Champion.
According to the Inheritance, Sol’keer himself named each stage. Kyte just thought that he may have just put random words together that sounded alright. Well, Kyte didn’t complain. He wouldn’t even have cared if the stages were numbered rather than named.
After that, apparently the storage necklace was able to store almost an unlimited amount of space. It isn’t unlimited, it’s just that the space is so large that it doesn’t even matter. Besides, it’s not like Kyte is going to go steal a giant building or anything.
The only available items Kyte could use were simple medicines and small gemstones that apparently help with training. Only after Kyte advances in the stages will better medicines, gemstones, and weaponry be available for him to use.
Now for the training knowledge. To reach the start of the Novice realm, all Kyte had to do was meditate in a certain position and breathe a certain way. If he does it correctly, Kyte should be able to feel energy flow into his body. The faster it happens, as well as the amount of energy being absorbed, depends on Kyte’s innate talent. Kyte was actually quite confident with himself, although he was only really smart. That doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll be good at anything else.
Kyte was also a little hesitant to begin because of what Sol’keer had said about this world. Apparently, there was no ‘ethereal’ or higher power. According to the Inheritance, that doesn’t really matter. Kyte learned that because he already has the very basic foundations for the Bloodrage technique, it should work no matter what. Although the energy may be different from Sol’keer’s world, it’s still energy nonetheless.
Kyte was also hesitant to start trying to practice because he wanted to use his computer. But, knowing the astronomical benefits he could obtain, Kyte decided against using his computer. He weighed the benefits, and obviously training in the Bloodrage technique was far better.

The Bloodrage technique itself actually isn’t about going into a rage at all. This technique utilizes the life force inside an organism’s body. Not the spirit energy, the life force. What is the life force exactly? The blood inside an organism’s body. Without blood, that living thing will definitely die. Although, of course, not all living things need blood to survive. But, since a majority of living things do indeed have blood, the Bloodrage technique focused on them. And since the only real threat to Sol’keer was other humans, the Bloodrage technique was quite effective.
The Bloodrage technique doesn’t control the blood within the body of something, it only makes it possible to absorb the life force from the blood. However, it mainly only works on dead organisms, since they can’t fight back. Absorbing the life force of living things requires Kyte to be significantly stronger, by at least four or five realms. Otherwise, the only way to get the life force would be to kill the thing. However, that doesn’t really matter in Kyte’s world.
The life force gained from blood quickens the rate at which someone is able to increase their power. For example, if it took a year to train from the Earth realm to the Spirit realm, then it would only take roughly nine months to train from the Earth realm to the Spirit realm when using the Bloodrage technique.
Of course, this technique is not only for absorbing life force. It also strengthens Kyte’s Realm power by a noticeable amount, and the higher stage Kyte is at, the bigger the power bonus. There is also more power bonus from more life force, obviously.
There are certain skills for the Bloodrage technique, however, since Kyte hasn’t even entered the Novice stage, he hasn’t gained any knowledge on any of them. Also, the Inheritance clearly states that the first Bloodrage exclusive skill unlocks at the Knight stage, so Kyte still has a while to go.
Sitting on his bed, Kyte got into the required position. The position reminds him of the lotus position which originated from ancient India, but Kyte only thought that might be similarities between two intelligent races that looked exactly the same.
After about ten minutes of breathing in and out, Kyte felt no change in his body or his surroundings.
I know I’m doing this right...how long does this freaking take?
Kyte got up and went to the restroom before starting over again, and this time he turned out all the lights to get into the right mood.
After fifteen minutes, Kyte suddenly felt the air around him surge toward his body. It swirled around him like a whirlwind, and faint electric sparks appeared throughout the vortex.

Without losing focus, Kyte continued his breathing. The small electric sparks grew larger in size until they started to connect with one another. Then, one by one, they flew into Kyte’s body. The electricity would spread over his skin, and his cells would absorb the energy like they were starving animals. His skeleton started to faintly vibrate as if it was alive, soaking up a weird energy that was released from the cells after they devoured the electricity.
Three hours later, Kyte was absorbing massive amounts of electricity, to which he could physically feel his skeleton shaking as it was being bombarded by large amounts of energy. The air vortex around him was no longer air, it was replaced completely by electricity. It gave off a strong glow that brightly illuminated his room and heated the area around his body greatly.
The vortex slowly calmed and disappeared, until finally all that was left was Kyte sitting in the same position. He finally opened his eyes to see his normal dark room, seemingly untouched by the supernatural event that just occurred.
He could feel the energy swirling around his body, and when it finally settled, Kyte inwardly celebrated:
He had reached the middle Novice stage!
However, according to the Inheritance, the first few times Kyte does this practice are when the highest amounts of energy will appear. However, it only stated that the first time Kyte should’ve only reached the early Novice stage, not the middle Novice stage!
“This is amazing! Haha, I knew I had it in me. When Sol’keer first practiced, it took him a full two hours to just start the wind vortex, and then another fourteen hours for him to finish. And he didn’t even reach the Novice stage! Heh, I wonder what he would say if he knew what just happened...”
“Oh believe me, it’s amazing.”
“...Huh??!!”
“I was joking back at the underground room. I'm actually connected to the Inheritance, mostly because it was formed from my essence and all.”
“Gosh damn, you scared the shit out of me.”
“HA! Consider that your punishment for slapping me in the face like this! It took me three days to reach the early Novice stage. And look at you! It took you three hours to get to the middle Novice stage!”
“Hahaha! Look who’s laughing now old man! I didn’t expect your talent to be so trashy, geeze.”
“What did you just say?! You should be grateful that I gave you this power!”
“Heh, of course I’m grateful! How else am I gonna beat those assholes to a pulp?”
“Assholes? Who?”
“They’re just the garbage of society. Believe me, I wish I could ignore them. But, they’ve done so much to me that I just feel the need to bring it all back to them.”
“Hmph, well don’t think you can do anything yet. Just because you’re at the Novice level doesn’t mean that you’re strong. If you couldn’t even resist before you got this power, even if you’re at the middle Novice stage you might not be able to beat them. You can most definitely defend yourself, but since you don’t even have any experience, I doubt you’ll be able to do any real damage.”
“Yea, that makes sense. Like I said before, my physical body wasn’t exactly the best. Because of that, I didn’t go out of my way to train in sports or any type of fighting. Although I’ve seen fights and fighting techniques, what good does that do if I can’t actually do them in real life?”
“It’s a good thing you’re smart. I’ve seen too many young men biting off more than they can chew, and they pay the price for it. Sometimes running away is the only option.”
“That comes from a guy that got killed in the middle of battle while taking seventy others with him?”
“Hey, I was trapped you know? There was nothing I could do. Some of those guys were even stronger than me.”
“Yea yea yea, whatever. Anyway, when do you think I’ll be able to really beat those guys up?”
“Hmm, definitely Knight stage. It’s possible at late Novice stage, but since you have no experience in fighting, you can at least win with superior defense and power at early Knight stage.”
“Alright, good. Then I’ll just practice every single day. I’ll get to Knight eventually.”
“Don’t you remember?! You can’t rush your practice. You need to give time to your body to adjust to your new power. If you get too much, your body won’t be able to handle it.”
“Ohhhhh right. Yea, I forgot about that. It’s gonna take about twelve hours for my body to fully adjust, so I guess I should go to sleep.”
After that, Kyte finished up his daily routine, and of course he used his computer for a little bit as well. Eventually, he went to sleep, quietly anticipating the next time he will gain more power.

Each Arc will be well thought out. This Fanfic explores what it would be like in a reality where Pokemon exist. Most other Fanfics are based on game or anime logic. I will be taking the point of view of a Progression Fantasy. I will try to update every Weekday at Noon Central. P.S. I do this for fun. As I am an amateur writer, I expect complaints and criticism. Anything other than constructive will be ignored. Well thought out Reviews, please. *I Do NOT own Pokemon in any way, shape or form. *I created the Cover in all its pixilated glory.

The Hunt
Cecily's blade swung, hitting its mark as always. The man's arm fell to the cold grass of the prison with a familiar thud. He let out a blood curdling scream. A warning to the rest. Stay away, the Hunter is here. That's the name they'd given her, the Hunter. After she cut off the man who tried to rape hers masculinity, they stayed away. She'd made it clear anyone who tried to touch her would be hunted and slaughtered. Cecily kneeled down, pushing the man's face into the dirt so she could use his back as a seat while she trifled through his belongings. "You're hurting my ears," she told him, no remorse in her voice. "Quiet down before I really do kill you."The man but his lip, well aware that she wasn't lying. Sobs shook him, making for an uncomfortable seat. She, however, didn't particularly feel the beed to kill him. It happened, not often, but it did. "Oh, hush up," she hissed, taking out a bag of rations with her metal hand, "it doesn't hurt that bad."With her good, human hand, she dropped the plastic bag of food into her own bag. She pushed up, off the man back. As she was about to walk away, bag slung over her shoulder, brushing against her autumn colored braid, she turned back to him. "Consider yourself lucky," she said, no hatred in her voice, there never was. "Consider yourself lucky that you didn't do anything stupid. And even luckier if one of the scum bagged criminals in here feel a little light in their hearts and help you. Consider yourself luckier if you die there."With that, her old black and white Nike sneakers carried her off into the brush of the huge prison.
