《Modern Deity》Chapter 9: Fight to Survive

---One month later---
A large vortex of wind suddenly spread out and vanished among the perimeter of Kyte's backyard.
Standing up, Kyte threw a Raging Palm at the ground which destroyed the earth, leaving a palm-shaped indention in the ground. Small cracks surrounded the indention, signifying a boost in power.
"Mid Spirit stage!"
Kyte had a huge smile on his face when he realized that he had broken through once again.
"Now, Energy Manifestation and Blood Ripper should be about twice as strong."
Manifesting his Internal energy into his hand, Kyte created a dark red sword. A faint humming came from it, and the red aura surrounding the blade gave off a dreadful feeling.
However, to Kyte, this aura was his own. It didn't give him a dreadful feeling at all. In fact, he liked this feeling. Although, when birds would come near, they would faint and sometimes die just from the aura alone. Then again, birds are very weak, normal animals. Of course they wouldn't be able to survive inside the heavy dread-filled pressure.
That is Energy Manifestation. It gives Kyte the ability to create any type of weapon he wants almost instantly. The weapon carries the full-force of Kyte's Internal energy, however, it uses a certain technique to to use less energy even when using full-power. Although, it only works with the weapons he creates from Energy Manifestation.
The other skill Kyte unlocked once he broke-through into the Spirit stage is Blood Ripper. This skill gives Kyte the ability to 'rip' the blood out of a living thing's body. However, to actually forcefully take the blood out of their body, Kyte has to be quite a bit stronger than the target. Kyte can absorb right then and there or warp the blood into a weapon, which Kyte can then use to attack the enemy with. This also works with Energy Manifestation, and the aura that Kyte produces can cover the weapon he creates from Blood Ripper. Although, the blood weapon is significantly lower in power compared to the pure energy weapons.
Also, Kyte finally obtained his first treasure from the storage necklace. It is a weapon-type item that's made from top-quality Earth rock. Kyte tested its durability and power against his own energy weapon, and his energy weapon was cleanly sliced in half.
The sword itself is white in color with two different formations drawn onto it. The first one controls the weight of the blade, making it heavier or lighter. Kyte tested out its limit and found out that he can increase its weight by two tons. Likewise, his was able to make it as light as a feather.
The second formation allows Kyte to insert his Internal energy into the sword, increasing its overall power by a certain percentage. Kyte doesn't have anything to test it out on so he doesn't know how much of an increase it really is.
The sword's name is Heavy Air, most likely referencing to its ability to increase in weight as well as decrease. Kyte decided to only use it if he was in a dire situation since his energy weapons have a larger variety of use, as well as being quite powerful as well.
Even though Kyte has this sword, as well as his sword from Energy Manifestation, it's not like he has any experience with sword play. He has zero experience with swords, however, he would swing Heavy Air and his energy weapons around all the time so at least he got used to how they feel.
Also, Kyte can still sense Sol'keer's soul inside of the ring, to which he feels relieved about. Although Kyte's spirit energy did drop significantly, he managed to recover about half of the lost Spirit energy.

About a week after he started training again, he had to go out and buy food. Fortunately, Kyte found it quite easy to hide himself. The Concealing Masks are very helpful in that aspect.
"It's about time to get more food. I ate the last of my ice-cream last night too..."
Retrieving a Concealing Mask from the storage amulet and using it, Kyte's figure shuddered before disappearing from his backyard.
__________________________________________________________________
While he was walking down the street on the sidewalk to his house, Kyte noticed something weird. It was as if all sounds had been silenced. Sensing something was wrong, Kyte decided to quickly get back to his house using Windwalker.
After entering his house, he felt a lot better. He could feel a small hint of warmth in his body, probably because the atmosphere outside was a little too weird.
After retrieving all the food from the storage necklace and arranging everything, Kyte went up to his room and decided to sleep.
However, before he could climb into bed...
-CRASH-
A large hole opened up in the ceiling of his room, and two robots were currently staring at Kyte.
Wait....while I'm undressing?
Instantly, both of the robots sprinted toward Kyte with their arm blades ready to slice down towards him. Kyte created a wall out of Internal energy while calmly putting his clothes back on. The robots continuously sliced at his wall of energy, but they were not able to pierce through it.
"Haaaaa, you guys just don't know your own limits huh?"
Waving his hand, a thin wave of energy shot out and through both of the robots. Their top halves cleanly fell off of their waists, and green liquid gathered on the floor.
If two of them came directly into my house, then that means...I've been caught.
Several more crashing sounds rang out from all over Kyte's home. The whole building shook before becoming calm once again.
Kyte sent out his Spirit energy and found that there was thirteen robots inside his house. He could hear their footsteps hurriedly moving toward his direction. Then suddenly...
-BANG-
A robot crashed through the wall and leaped toward Kyte. He quickly raised his arm and slashed horizontally with his energy sword which cleanly cut through the robot, disabling it immediately.
Several more robots smashed through the floor and wall. Kyte simply created another sword in his left hand and began to massacre the robots. Each one was either decapitated or cut in half. Green liquid stained the floor and walls, every portion of Kyte's room was splattered with the disgusting ooze.
Kyte covered himself with Internal energy long ago, and he quickly jumped out of his house through the hole in the ceiling. Outside, he saw that there was an almost uncountable amount of robots surrounding his home.
"Heh...hahaha....Ohhhh man, now this is a party! Let's turn this into a massacre!!!"
A wild smile grew on Kyte's face, as he leaped into the air. Following his action were several robots that helped others jumped into the air to slice at Kyte. Seeing this, Kyte changed his two energy swords into long whips. He waved his arms and the two whips followed his motion.
The whips leaped out and slashed through the robots, completely shattering and destroying their bodies. Kyte would retract his whips and quickly elongate them to pierce through the metallic bodies of the robots, and then he would swipe his arms horizontally or vertically to quickly slice them apart.
As Kyte landed, green liquid rained down from the air. Robots continued to jump toward Kyte to try to slice him, and some even shot their head lasers at him. Kyte willing jumped into the large group, sending out his whips and sometimes he would shoot out Raging Palms which would completely smash the robots apart.

Each step Kyte took, the ground beneath his feet would slightly indent and cracks would roll out on the street. Switching his weapons from whips, to swords, to gloves, to claws, Kyte would rip the robots apart.
After about ten minutes of the continuous slaughter, all of the robots were destroyed. It seemed like a river of green liquid was around Kyte as it flowed down into the gutters on the street.
Suddenly, a single robot appeared in-front of Kyte. It's appearance was quite similar to the others, however, the color of its body was of a darker shade. It was also visibly shorter than the others. The overall atmosphere of this new robot made Kyte unconsciously wary.
Suddenly, it shot toward Kyte. It moved so fast that Kyte was barely able to see it move. Kyte put up an energy barrier just in time, however, the robot's fist smashed the barrier like glass and slammed directly into Kyte's chest.
Getting all the air in his lungs forcefully pushed out, Kyte's body flew back and smashed through the front wall of his home. His body smashed through the back wall and landed in his backyard, which still had many palm imprints in the dirt.
Shit...I wasn't expecting it to be so strong...!
Feeling his chest with his hand, Kyte felt a deep indent. Blood continuously leaked out of his mouth, and he could feel his body getting weaker. However, he could also feel that his chest was slowly changing back to normal.
The robot landed in-front of Kyte and struck out its fist once again. This time, Kyte was more prepared. He gripped Heavy Air from his storage necklace and swung it out to hit the robot's fist.
A loud bang rang out, just like metal hitting metal. However, the robot was pushed back several steps. Likewise, Kyte was thrown back several meters. Using Heavy Air to support himself, Kyte stood up and looked at the robot, just to see that it disappeared.
Using Windwalker to shoot forward, Kyte turned around and slashed Heavy Air out again. The blade met with another metallic fist and Kyte was blasted back to the front of his home.
Quickly getting up, Kyte used Windwalker to the best of his abilities. Swallowing two pills, as well as a healing pill, Kyte spread out his Spirit energy and could clearly sense the robot getting closer. However, Kyte could hear a helicopter approaching from the distance.
As if it was afraid, the robot behind Kyte stopped and turned around before speeding away. Slightly confused, Kyte didn't stop moving as he continued forward.
The sound of sirens entered Kyte's ears, and another helicopter entered his vision.
Now I'm being chased?! What the Hell is this?!
"There he is!"
What?!!
Kyte could see several police vehicles everywhere. They all had their guns pointed toward him.
"Fire at will!"
HUUUHH?!!
All of the officers shot their guns to Kyte's surprise. Being too surprised at the sudden development, only when the bullets shot through his body did he snap back into reality. Due to not being on the defensive, the bullets penetrated his skin and created holes in several places on his body.
Kyte's face contorted in pain and he quickly surged his Internal energy around his body. The bullets popped out of the wounds they created, to which the wounds quickly closed.
Quickly jumping toward the group of police, Kyte blasted out a wave of energy that sliced through everything: the police officers and their cars. The cars, as if ignited by Kyte's energy, exploded. The loud sounds of the explosions resounded throughout the area. The explosions themselves decimated the bodies of the police while shaking Kyte's body back and forth between each explosion.
A huge fire resulted from the explosions; the surrounding street and sidewalks charred black from the intense heat. The bodies of the police officers were blown to pieces. Body parts were scattered around the area, and blood was splattered across the ground.
Kyte pushed his body onto his knees. His clothes were burnt to a crisp and his skin charred black. The necklace around his neck was reflecting the light of the fires, seemingly untouched by the destruction.
All the blood, regardless of it being dry or still wet, quickly surged toward Kyte's body. It entered through his whole body, and his skin started to quickly heal. It began to change back to the usual light-colored skin, some-what pale since he liked to stay inside all the time.
A new change of clothes suddenly appeared on his body from within the storage necklace. Standing up, Kyte looked around him as the light from the fire danced around his body.
"At least I got one of their souls. Sheese, I forgot about the cars...haaaa."
Sighing, Kyte began to use Windwalker to move through the town. The helicopters were still pursuing him relentlessly. Kyte passed several police vehicles, not stopping to deal with them unless they shot at him.
"Damn.....this all started because of Asshole and his friends..."
Kyte was sure the situation with the police resulted because of the murders of Asshole and his family. Although Kyte doesn't really know how they found out it was him, he guessed it was probably because he was the victim of Asshole's bullying.
Suddenly, while Kyte was thinking, he arrived in-front of a blockade. A large group of police were gathered, all aiming at Kyte. The helicopters weren't far behind, quickly moving toward Kyte's location.
"FIRE!!"
Kyte created a membrane of energy around himself and he charged forward into the blockade. He used Raging Palms to kill the few police around him while simultaneously using Blood Ripper to tear the others apart. This time, he didn't let any of their souls get away. He absorbed fourteen souls, along with of all the blood from their bodies.
Kyte felt his Spirit energy increase by quite a bit. Just several more and he would possibly be back to the seventh stage. The blood from the corpses rejuvenated him while also increasing his strength by a certain amount.
A helicopter spot light landed on Kyte which snapped him out of the moment. He quickly shot forward using Windwalker as fast he could go, turning through the several streets as he slowly lost the helicopters.
Slowing down, Kyte began to walk and calm his mind down. The sudden development of police coming after him was a surprise regardless of what he had done. Even if the police were suspecting him, he didn't expect them to open fire at first sight of him.
Alright, first things first, I have to find a new place to sta-
Suddenly, a large amount of pressure fell onto Kyte like a mountain. Caught by complete surprise, Kyte immediately fell to his knees. Breathing become extremely difficult, and he was barely able to get back up onto his feet.
In-front of him appeared a woman. She had long snow-like hair that reached down to her waist. She wore all black clothing; from her top to her shoes she wore only black. Her eyes were also black, and they stared into Kyte's eyes full of interest. The corners of her mouth lifted upward, and she quickly appeared right in-front of Kyte.
Punching him directly in the stomach, Kyte bent forward and he felt his vision turning dark. Before he completely blacked out, he heard faint words next to his ear...
"You'll be safe with me."

Dreams or Another World - Not a Zero (Update 09/19/21)
(Updated 09/19/21) Hello and welcome. If you made it this far and the book title sounds interesting, I'm hoping you'll read a few chapters. Here's a sample from chapter 1 of "Dreams or Another World - Not a Zero."Slowly starting to wake up, I become aware. It's like coming out of a fog.Head hurts.Body hurts. There's a conversation in the room. This isn't my bed. Someone is touching my arm. I crack my eyes to look. She doesn't notice. Is she praying for me? Her hands do feel good…do feel... Slipping back unconscious, my eyes slowly close. I didn't notice the soft green glow under Jenn’s hands.*******************"It does look like he saved them or at least stalled them long enough for us to get there." says the man dressed more like a park ranger than an officer of the law. "I did think he was part of it at first" he continues "but the evidence shows he wasn't there and they were certainly fighting on that back road where we found them""I don't care who he is." says a woman as she enters the room. "He saved and protected my Jenn. I will make sure there's not a mark or a scar on him before he leaves". As she continues the few steps over to the men speaking, even though dressed simply in common clothes, there is no doubt the race of elves is in her heritage. The grace and lines of her form. The elegance and lightness of her step. She glances at her daughter, still watching over the young man in the bed. "Do we know who he is yet?" she asks no one in particular."Not yet dear" a man in a white coat responds. A handsome middle-aged man. Fit, but not that of a fighter or ranger. "I asked Talon to bring another identification stone with him. I was hoping ours was just broke, but it's reading the same.""What do you think is wrong?" Talon asks."I'm thinking we just have to wait until he recovers. I have heard of cases where the stone didn't work. Powerful spells can hide or wipe a person clean. I doubt he's a spy or a criminal. Spells like that are just too high level if, they're used at all. My best guess is, there is just some disconnect with him being unconscious. When he wakes, we can ask him or use the stone again then."I find myself waking up in a hospital bed. The attending Doctor finds it odd that he cannot identify my class. An Officer says I’m a Hero for saving a girl from being kidnapped, but he’s asking too many questions for my liking. I know an accusing tone when I hear it. I don’t remember any of it and I need to find my way home.Author’s notes. Original work. First draft and update of chapters 1-16. Inspired by various fantasy games and books. Written with a focus on character development and interaction. Combat, progression, leveling, classes, but no numbers or stats. I’ll try to keep the language clean, PG-13, no smut. I’m in the US, writing in English. Almost fifty chapters are completed as I pen this introduction. I intend to complete this story or at least bring it to a proper ending. I have a destination in mind. I find as I write, doors and ideas open, while others close and are discarded. The tentative release schedule will be once a week. I'm new to creating. My apologies now while I learn. I have not settled on a book cover or artwork, still looking for something that fits. Registered & Protected #20VjeKDv2U6nynW6
