TWG Chapter 3 : The Little Pup and Li Zun

The little pup stared unblinking at Li Zun.

Sensing the stare of the little pup, Li Zun couldn’t help but stare back at it. The little pup had a very small body akin to a small sized dog with fluffy snowy white fur and a few traces of blue stripes. Had Li Zun not saw the little pup’s father before, he would have never thought that this seemingly cute and innocent lil pup would have any connections to the big, ferocious wolf from before.

In fact, were it not for it's sharp ears and a snout longer than average dogs, Li Zun might have even thought that this little pup was a cute little dog instead.

The staring contest between the two was suddenly interrupted by a bright, golden light that enveloped the little pup's body.

If an ordinary mortal were to come across the light, they might even procrastinate themselves in respect to the ‘ divine’ feeling the little pup is currently emitting.

“ Ack.. ? This..isn't this my divine energy ? What is happening ? “ Li Zun was completely clueless.

Contractionary to Li Zun, the little pup seemed like it had a faint idea of what is happening and remained calm and indifferent to the light.

However, this just made Li Zun even more perplexed.

" Ahh… I'm the owner of this divine energy but it seems even the little pup knew it more than me.. “ Li Zun felt increasingly bitter. He knew that he currently knows very little about his current body, but not to the point where even the little pup might know more than him !

Now, his desire to read the imprint the goddess left him grew even stronger.

Slowly, the golden energy that enveloped the little pup's body began to conglomerate into a specific point.

In the time it took for half an incense to burn, the light began condensing at the little pup's right paw, shining even brightly then before.

While all of this had happened, the little pup's complexion turned a little pale and gritted it's small, white teeth. It looked to be quite in pain.

Li Zun, the cause of all of this, however, was completely loss at what to do. He began to worry that his divine energy might cause the little pup to have side effects.

Not long after, the light gradually dimmed down. A golden runic-lion mark with a faint taint of dark black appeared. If one were to overlook the faint taint of black in the mark, then, just by looking at the runic-lion mark, one would feel a sense of unwavering courage with extreme sharpness and indomitable might from it.

But when someone focused on the black taint instead, a dark indescribable feeling would quickly rise up.

Before Li Zun could examine the mark on the little pup's. His right hand also began to emit a light too, although it was blue in color and it did not cause him any pain in contrast to the little pup. Slowly, the blue light began to diminish, it then formed into a white-blue symbol with the back of a wolf looking extremely fierce.

When Li Zun saw the symbol on his hands, together with the symbol on the little pup's paw, his heart jumped.

“ Is this the so called master-beast bonding like in the novels ? “ Li Zun remembered the novels he had read during his past lives, it looked extremely similar to the current situation he was in.

“ No..it doesn't feel like the little pup is under my control at all “ Li Zun felt that he had no whatsoever control on the little pup, nor could he establish the legendary ‘ spiritual ‘ link between the two. However, that had only made him grow in confusion.

From the marks, Li Zun could somehow guess that the little pup and him has become connected, although he did not understand what the connection is.

But…when he saw the black taint on the little pup's mark, Li Zun's face immediately turned dark. Because, towards the black taint, he could feel a very familiar aura permeating from it.

Although it was very faint, He who had practically lived with it for more than 30 years could naturally feel that aura better than any body else. Yes, it was his aura of ‘ rejection ‘. The accursed ability that accompanied him from his last life all the way to this life.

“ Aiii…sorry little guy, it seems that I have somehow dragged you along with me in this curse “ Li Zun looked at the little pup apologetically with heavy heart. If he knew that the little pup would be affected by this curse of his too, he would not dare to rashly insert his divine energy to the little pup.

Sensing Li Zun’s gaze at it's mark, the little pup seemed like it could understand Li Zun's words and brushed it's head cutely at Li Zun’s hand while looking back at Li Zun with an expression as if it's telling Li Zun “ it's all alright “.

Li Zun knew that the goddess had told him that magic beasts that have entered the cultivation realm are smarter than ordinary beasts and could somehow understand people's intention. With the information in his mind, he determined that the little pup understood him and have forgiven him.

Li Zun’s gaze turned even warmer towards the little pup. It could somehow feel that, from now on, whatever he does, the little pup would always be there, right at his side.

However, when he remembered about the curse, Li Zun could somehow feel that it had incredibly lessened a lot by now. He thought that it has probably something to do with him currently being a Demigod or his divine energy.

Which was of course, a very good news for him and the little pup, since it meant that their lives would not be as harsh as his before.

Suddenly, the quiet and obedient little pup began to move out of his arms and jumped into the ground.

Li Zun, who was looking at the little pup who walking to it's father, could somehow feel the little pup's sadness through the wolf mark on his right hand.

Then, he remembered. Before it's father’s last moments, it sends out a glance towards him, asking him to protect the little pup.

“ Good parent…is that what having a parent feels like ? “ Li Zun had never experienced of having a family. On his life before, his father and mother were nowhere to be seen, he was immediately brought up at the orphanage. Thankfully, his curse wasn't that bad when he was young, but it still prevent him from having friends during his childhood days.

Li Zun began to feel sad for the little pup too.

The little pup went up to his father and sat down close to it.

The little pup is an intelligent creature, it naturally knew that it's father was no longer here. All it wanted to do is pay a tribute to it's loving father.

Slowly..time passed.

The sun began to set. The sky darkens in color, but the little pup just stood there the entire time, not moving a single inch. Only tears dripped down it's eyes.

Li Zun sat behind the little pup, gazing aimlessly. He didn't know how hurt the little pup must be, because he had never lost someone he truly cared. But from the mark on his right hand, the little pup's feelings could somehow be transmitted into him.

Since the great battle had ended, there were many curious beast lurking around to see the result and probably find a chance to replace the Vajra Thunder-Wolf as the king of the forest.

Too bad, whoever that got close to the outskirts of the Earthly Oak Tree, Li Zun immediately kicked them out far away, afraid that they would disturb the little pup. With the current Li Zun's strength, this was not a problem at all.

But after 10-20 beast had flown in the air to who knows where, the other beasts were immediately frightened, afraid that they would encounter the same fate should they get near to the Earthly Oak Tree.

Suddenly, the little pup moved.

Li Zun too, noticed it's movement and began to pay attention to it.

The little pup began to exhale air into it's mouth in large amounts. Then..it suddenly blew up crackling thunder at a single point on a nearby wood.

The wood began to burn in flames.

The little pup pushed the wood close to it's father with it's snout, leaving a bit of a burnt mark in the process. It watched as the fire began to burn it's father’s body slowly.

It's clear blue eyes reflected the burning fire.

Suddenly, the little pup who had been quiet all the time howled.

“ Awoooo !! “ “ Awoooo!! “

Li Zun somehow felt that..the little pup is howling at it's father in heavens.

After the little pup stopped howling, Li Zun began to move towards it. He raised the little pup's body and examined it closely.

The little pup was a bit startled when Li Zun suddenly raised it, but it didn't reject Li Zun and instead looked at Li Zun closely too.

“ Good eye ! “ Li Zun suddenly exclaimed. From the little pup's eye, he could sense sadness, sorrow, but more importantly, the burning will to live on and become stronger.

He was reminded again that the little pup is now somehow connected to him.

" Ah ! if we were to be together from now on, I couldn't call you little pup always right ? Let's see.. “

“ Your fur is so white..and so soft....just like the snow in the winter. Okay, let's call you Bai..Bai Xue ! That's it, from today onwards your name is Bai Xue ! 【白雪】: Meaning “ White Snow “.

The little pup looked confused for a moment before smiling happily, looks like it liked the name quite a lot.

Soon, the day passed, a new day is arriving.

Li Zun was currently sleeping inside a tree house which he had made with the surrounding trees, the tree house was built on top of the Earthly Oak Tree. Because the Earthly Oak Tree had very strong, and big branches, the tree house Li Zun had built looked quite spacious and comfy.

Building the tree house was not a hard task for the current Li Zun with his boundless strength, he felt that he could even carry a mountain with one hand if he wanted to, and this wasn't even the limit of his power.

The current Li Zun was wearing a clothing made out of leaves, sleeping soundly.

Although Li Zun, who was now a Demigod, doesn't need any sleep. Yesterday, too much things had happened at once and he felt that he should just rest peacefully for the night. He didn't even look at the imprint the goddess left him and stayed besides the little pup all the time.

When one had been alone for too long, even a small wolf could make him happy.

When Li Zun woke up, he was dazed for a moment. He was afraid that all of the things happening yesterday was all but a dream.

He dreamt that..he was still on his planet, sitting on his usual chair at his dark, gloomy room.

But when he turned his head around, he saw the little pup sleeping not far away from him. The scene of the little pup sleeping soundly made Li Zun smile.

The fact that the little pup was very close and comfortable with Li Zun confused him.

Since the goddess did mention to him that usually magic beast, especially those that have great strength or potential would be really haughty and will not be willing to stay near humans at all.

Li Zun understood this, he knew that the little pup was an extremely powerful kind of a magic beast. After all, he himself had experienced the might of the Vajra Thunder-Wolf King battling the other 3 beasts.

Perhaps because Li Zun is the one who had saved it, along with this weird bond of theirs and together with the fact that it's only family was gone now, it became increasingly closer to Li Zun, which in turn made Li Zun very happy too.

After all, in his previous life, even the dogs stayed away from him. Now with the little pup by his side, at least he felt as if he had a companion, though it was in the form of a wolf.

" Doesn't people called dogs a man’s best friend anyway ? Why can't it be a wolf instead ? “ with this thought in his mind, Li Zun doesn't seem to care if the little pup was human nor beast, or even a dog. Just having a living being accompanying him made him extremely, extremely happy..

By the way, If you want to imagine how a Vajra Thunder-Wolf looked, just imagine a garurumon and Terry Cloth mixed together. Maybe someday when I have free time I'll draw one. Don't expect anything good though, Lol.
