《The Wandering God》Chapter 10 : Demons, oh demons

Note : Your promised chapter ! A slightly short one though, but I think it's very good to stop there. I will try to release a chapter by Monday.
In a certain place on the outskirts of Mythical Beast Forest, 2 days before Ru Wuxi had woken up.
Fallen trees and devastated grounds are everywhere on sight, the barks and branches have been stripped away from it’s original location, leaving some trees to be shaved off of it’s outer layers.
This part of the forest looked as if it had just encountered a storm, it was a storm though, albeit it was not a storm of winds and thunders but instead a storm of blows between experts of the 6 rank of cultivation.
In the midst of the destruction, A lone figure suddenly appeared out of thin air.
Li Zun, who had just teleported right here, placed his hands behind his back as he slowly strolled around the site.
He walked around everywhere, if an ordinary mortal were to see him, it would seem as if he was taking an ordinary walk after a storm. But his divine awareness had been spread out since he had even arrived here, examining every bits of the surroundings.
If one had not reached Godhood, they might not be able to tell that there was something wrong in this forest by a glance as only deities could posses Divine Awareness to see the Qi and Energy fluttering about in the surroundings. At most, they could only sense it when they tune in with nature.
In some places on the site, traces of black, evil Qi lingered around in small amounts.
“ As I thought..this black, evil Qi..it's none other than Demonic Qi ! “ He glared viciously at the dissipating Demonic Qi.
Actually, Li Zun had been observing the battle between the two 5th rankers the whole time. He had observed from afar when the leader had been rampaging about in the forest, trying to find Ru Wuxi.
But he knew, that all of it was nothing but an act. The leader tried to lure Ru Wuxi into making the move on him, but he did not dare to create a moment of opening for Ru Wuxi, as he knew just how good Ru Wuxi is at taking chances even at the slightest bit of opening.
He was also afraid that if he deliberately faked an opening, Ru Wuxi could have suspected something and escaped hurriedly.
But even he did not guess that Ru Wuxi would be so decisive to immediately leave an injured, rampaging target like him.

At that moment, he had no choice but to unleash his Demonic Transformation technique, a technique he was not willing to use because of his insufficient cultivation.
There was actually a reason for his decision to chase after Ru Wuxi, it was not because he was afraid of her getting revenge against him or anything close to that.
But it was purely…hatred! anger!
For normal cultivators, losing an arm might be a big blow to their future cultivations, but it was not something they would risk their life with to get revenge.
But for the leader ? It was something akin to telling him to die!
He was not a normal warrior practitioner, but instead a demonic practitioner !
The amputation of his arm may not seem to be something he would be willing to risk his life for, but after a few hours, Demonic Qi will begin to seep out of his scar.
If he were to leave the forest, even normal, ordinary mortals could sense the Demonic Energy leaking out of him. And if they do, they would immediately launch an all out attack against him at all cost, not leaving till he was dead.
If he were to stay in the forest for the whole time then he may have a chance to live on, but by the time he was discovered by other practitioners who will venture to the forest, they will immediately attack him or escape and report to the kingdom of his existence.
He was already the same as dead, he no longer had much left to live. Thus, he sacrificed everything in order to kill Ru Wuxi, the person who practically destroyed his life.
There was a reason why humans bore so much hatred towards demons and demonic practitioners. Long, long ago, Demonic practitioners ruled the continent. Their might, unmatched.
It was not until the join hands of the 3 mighty Kingdoms and the 2 Great Sects did they finally perish.
But they did not perish for good.. they have been waiting deep in darkness..waiting for the chance for them to take back the continent and rule with terror once again !
There are of course, a reason why Demonic practitioners are so powerful. The Cloudy Days Planet, is only a lesser planet, it naturally did not have an abundant amount of Heaven and Earth Qi. Hence, it was not so easy for humans to cultivate. But Demonic Practitioners, were however, different.
They do not cultivate in Heaven and Earth Qi, but in Demonic Qi instead !

The abundance of Demonic Qi is not decided by the Planet but it is decided through other means. Therefore, they have some ways in which they are able to advance in cultivation faster than normal practitioners, but it was in the exchange of their humanity as they slowly turn into demons themselves.
This information was naturally obtained by Li Zun before when he used soul scour on the leader. But he did not have much luck, as he was killed as an after affect of soul scour.
Li Zun blew out an air out of his mouth as he retracted his Divine Awareness back. He decided to finish his investigations as he would continue to truly enjoy strolling about in the wrecked site.
Back then, in his old world. He had seen lots of places and natures but he had never seen a forest this devastated. Hence, he would naturally enjoy his stroll and wander about aimlessly.
Even if the forest looks completely devastated in nature, it would not take hundreds of years for them to grow back, the natural existence of Heaven and Earth Qi would quicken the rate of their growth and it would not take them more than 20 years to get back to the original, lush forest.
Especially in places where the Heaven-Earth Qi is especially dense, it might not even take them 5 years to grow back ! These miracle like occurrence in Li Zun’s old world is considered a very normal scene in a cultivation planet like Cloudy Days Planet.
In fact, there were some cases where plants and trees gained consciousness to the point where they are able to gain a hint of intelligence. Legends have even told of cases where there were plants or flowers who gained the chance to cultivate and gained immortality !
Li Zun could only sigh at the wondrous power of the Heaven-Earth Qi.
But the existence of the Heaven-Earth Qi could also hamper the progression of science and technology. Unlike in his old world, the technology had advanced pretty far in contrast to the Cloudy Days Planet, which from what he knew, is comparable to the medieval ages on his planet.
But to Li Zun, a not so advanced place where nature is lush and devoid of pollution is definitely to his liking. After all, traveling around the world had been one of his reasons why he could live up to 30 years of his solitary life.
All this information he knew, are mostly from Bum Gumsu's and the leader’s memory, since the goddess did not have time to mention such trivial occurrence.
But he did know of one thing, that the legends where plants and flowers are able to have the chance to cultivate and gained immortal life is true ! This information, was of course something that the goddess told him.
At times, during his stroll, he would stop to stare at the sky as he saw some small birds flying in the sky, approaching the grounds.
These birds are ordinary, normal birds. They do not have a strong perception towards the natural energies, unlike magic beasts who are naturally sensitive towards the energies.
If these ordinary birds were to get in contact with the demonic energy around, they might in some cases get sick and had their lifespans taken, in the worst case they would immediately die or become demonic birds themselves.
Li Zun had already seen quite a few who were affected by the Demonic Energy and could only sigh helplessly.
For an ordinary bird, they have very frail bodies, once getting in contact with the Demonic Energy, it is not a good idea to try to help them out with his Divine Energy when he had not mastered it.
Their bodies could immediately explode from the surging power of Divine Energy, hence Li Zun did not try to do that.
With a brush of his hand, wind fluttered about. Preventing these normal birds from reaching the place.
After a few times doing this, Li Zun gradually grew tired and congealed his Divine Energy to block off any creatures from reaching here.
Li Zun continued to stroll around when his eyes suddenly gleamed brightly as he saw 3 little birds laying down on the ground in pain..
Note : A peaceful chapter that explains some questions. The reason why the leader does his actions and also what had happened to him, with some foreboding of the demons of course.
Oh, and If anyone's having a bit of uncertainty.. Li Zun's old world is NOT Earth, but a similar Planet where there is no cultivation and is quite advanced in science & technology.

Mage Among Superheroes
Turlough is a mage. He also happens to be an orc, generally lauded as being less intelligent than humans. He was unfortunately born with the Curse of the Barbarian, meaning that he can’t level up except through combat- which greatly hinders his ability to show he can be a proper mage. In a world with necromancers, dragons, invading armies, and all sorts of other monsters he would still be able to advance quickly, but unfortuantely… that world is not his world. An unprecedented peace reigns across the land, and in the last several decades there’s been little use for people capable of fighting- and thus little reason for people to fight him. So when he sees a portal in his master’s study he takes it, hoping to find a horde of demons or something equally foolish to combat at low level. But instead he ends up in a strange city full of skyscrapers and people running around in colorful outfits. Superheroes- and of course supervillains as well. What dangers and opportunities could await him in such a strange and unfamiliar world? Only time will tell. Inspired by many things in the superhero genre, and Super Minion specifically- though while the setting will share some standard elements, it is an original setting that will hopefully be as engaging as many of the other universes. Schedule: One chapter each Monday/Thursday, approx. 2000 words.

Cybernetic Dragon
Idea Seven, or Inter Dimensional Explorer Automaton Unit-7, has had a bit of an accident. Hijacking the egg of a dragon rather than its intended target of a bird egg, it isn't fully in control of its host brain. Rather the two, dragon and cybernetic AI interface, must work together to survive in a hostile world of magic, dungeons, beasts and adventurers. The AI must deal with being a machine from a world of science trying to carry out its mission of exploration, while the dragon, Rex, must deal with being a cyborg living with symbiotic nanotech that sets him apart from other dragons. What adventures await them? Author Note: I tagged this story GameLit because it contains concepts like levels, classes, and dungeon/beast cores. But, it isn't tagged LitRPG because no one has status screens, other than occasionally Idea Seven who likes to organize data into blue boxes. It isn't a natural function of the world to display level ups or skill ups with an announcer voice. I mention this to set expectations, because otherwise I feel like LitRPG fans might be disappointed by my lack of LitRPG elements while others might be turned off thinking I have a lot of LitRPG elements. I think that if you approach the story with an open mind you will appreciate the gradual way in which the main character learns and expands his understanding of how the world works, but the game mechanics aren't meant to take center stage to the actual story.
