Chapter 99 The Furry Prison
Two days later, Evernya awoke to a constricting warmth. She tried to move, but the constriction only tightened. She opened her eyes to find out what was holding her, but all she could see was white.
Still half asleep, Evernya’s sluggish, sleep-addled mind processed her situation. Am I dead? The white is warm, but I wouldn’t call it bright. Somehow I doubt the afterlife is this fluffy, so that only leaves one probable cause.
Now aware of her predicament, Evernya gave up on trying to move her limbs instead, opting to prod her white and fluffy prison with telekinesis. Her numerous prodding attempts elicited a moan from behind her as the constriction loosened. It seems I’m not the only one with overly sensitive appendages, but at least I only have one. Fewer points of attack! I’m sorry, but it’s your own fault for trapping me. Evernya justified as she prodded her fluffy prison.
Determined to free herself, Evernya continued her prodding until the white cocoon gave way under her assault, revealing the familiar sight of her room. Now mostly free, she glanced down her body to find what else was tethering her down. She found a pair of small arms tightly wound around her waist. When she tried to pry the arms off, they only constricted tighter. With no way out without hurting her or waking her up, she gave up trying to escape, satisfied with her progress.
After surveying her room, Evernya spotted a pair of ID cards lying on the nightstand, so seeing nothing better to do, she levitated one toward her, finding it to be her ID.
Hopefully, the bastard followed through with his side. I passed out before I could check. I wonder how long it’s been. I hope I didn’t sleep for another week, but it wouldn’t surprise me. They put my poor body through the wringer. Oh well, one step at a time first task is to read my ID. Evernya thought, straining her neck against the collar still locked around her neck to read ID now resting in her hand.

I think everything seems fine, at least the bastard of a noble followed through registering both my bloodline and artifact. The class of my ID changed to a one, so I’m assuming it gives me access to tier 1 cities. I wish they hadn’t reused my old picture since I looked half dead. I must retake the picture after I take the driving test.
Annoyed by the awkward angle of reading the ID while unable to tilt her head, Evernya reached to the back of her neck to unlatch the shifter collar only to find a smooth latch less back revealing its current locked state.

Confused, Evernya’s mind wandered. Why won’t the collar come off? I’m not in a tier 2 city anymore. Though Detective Walker did say I couldn’t remove it until I registered my bloodline. Did she mean even outside the city?
Evernya updated her collar by holding her ID against the front for a few seconds until she heard the lock click open. She sighed in relief before carefully unlatching the collar and removing it without disturbing the sleeping Kitsune latched around her midsection. She levitated it to the nightstand before turning her attention to the other ID lying on the nightstand.
Hopefully, that’s the last time I have to wear something as demeaning as a damn silver posture collar with a name tag. Unfortunately, I’m sure humans will find some other way to discriminate against us. To distract herself from depressing thoughts, Evernya picked up the other ID, which she assumed was Aya’s, and examined it.
Class: 1SWS (Suspended)
ID Number: 65422380
Citizen Code: SWS7270012:
Name: Aya Draorxia
Sex: F
Race: Kitsune, Catkin
Magic type: Fire Sorcerer, illusionist
Mana grade: 6.54
Element: Fire
Bloodline: Draorxia
Mana bound artifact: Yes, Unknown type, Unknown tier

Age: 18
Hair: White
Eyes: Red
Height: 155 cm
Weight: 42 kg
The suspended part is probably what the detective meant by Aya, qualifying as a minor. Fortunately, besides extreme shyness and a habit of speaking in third person, she seems to be doing very well. I’m sure there is some lingering mental conditioning to deal with, but I’m confident she will be fine. I’ll have to ask her what she wants to do for her birthday if we haven’t slept through it. I hate how I keep passing out. It’s annoying that I never know when or where I’ll wake up next. At least I woke up in my bedroom this time, a lot better than a jail cell. Evernya thought before glancing down at the thin arms trapping her. Well, I wouldn’t say I escaped imprisonment, but at least I’m on my bed. Her arms sure are thin despite their impressive strength. I don’t know what those slaving bastards were feeding her, but it was not enough. What do Kitsune eat anyway? I’ll have to ask her later. Once we fatten her up a bit, we need to have her picture retaken. The blank faced look makes me angry just seeing it. Besides, her picture is hardly accurate with black hair and brown eyes.
Evernya tried to look over her shoulder to see if she could remove Aya’s collar, but as she thought, Aya nestled her head deep into her back, preventing access to the front of her collar. She levitated the IDs back to the nightstand, having committed them to memory.
Still trapped, Evernya quickly became bored, allowing her mind to wander randomly. How can she even breathe? She pressed her face as tightly as possible between my shoulder blades. She seems to the breathing. Somehow I can feel her chest moving against my back, but no air seems to leave her mouth or nose. How odd. I suppose I breathe weird too. I woke up at the bottom of that pool, way back at the lab. Anyway, now what do I do? Aya doesn’t seem to be waking up anytime soon. Oh yeah! I still need to process all the information from my bloodline.

Evernya closed her eyes, pulling up her bloodline knowledge. Her mind blanked from the flood of information, causing her to enter a sleep-like state as her mind processed the information. Over a half-hour later, her mind finished processing information, returning her consciousness.
Whoa! I thought I already integrated everything. I guess my mind needed more time to finish. Aside from more detailed knowledge, I don’t think anything changed. I can’t exactly test kinetic aberration trapped by Aya, but maybe I can play around with my spatial abilities.
Like with her mana sensing, Evernya activated her spatial sight with a thought, causing the surrounding room to become hazy with distortions randomly scattered about. Freaky, it’s like seeing a parallel dimension of the same world. According to the knowledge pounded into my brain, the ripples should be weak points in the fabric of space. I bet I can take advantage of the weak points to teleport easier, but I won’t know without trying.
I can see why the bloodline characterized as spatial and combative. Not only did I gain the kinetic aberration ability, which is probably an upgrade over my turbo mode, but I also gain some spatial abilities. Just this sight alone makes me feel like I cheated my way through a lot of steps of learning spatial magic. Though I don’t know, maybe all spatial mages have a sight ability like this. I can see why most people can’t compete with those with bloodlines. On top of my new abilities, I even have this cultivation method to speed increasing my mana grade and capacity.
I wonder what Aya got. I don’t think it is as much as I got, though. I have a feeling I am multiple tiers above her on the bloodline. However, Even if she gets a fraction of this, she is going to be scary, probably even more powerful than me if she doesn’t have severe limitations as I do. That staff of hers alone is terrifying and she can turn invisible!
She spent another hour scanning the room with her spatial sight while scanning through her newly gained knowledge before becoming bored with lying in bed. She brainstormed on how to escape her current predicament without waking or hurting Aya. Aya deserves to sleep, but I’ll go insane if I lay here any longer. There has to be something I can do.
After a few minutes of scouring her brain, she thought of something risky, but possibly within her capabilities. Driven by the need to escape, she levitated a few unused pillows into the air, then wrapped the discarded comforter around them to make a somewhat Evernya sized mass. Next, she sets it on the floor to the bed on top of a spatial weak point, careful not to unravel her creation. With her preparations completed, she went over the calculations in her head, instinctively knowing the basics, like her telekinesis.
She put her newly gained spatial sight to use by focusing on the spatial weak spot connecting to it with her mana to switch places with her pillow and comforter creation. After setting the destination, Evernya connected her mana to another spatial weakness, conveniently a few centimeters to her left from her face. With the magical framework completed, she willed her mana into action. Her body popped out of existence, replaced with her dummy. An instant later, she found herself disoriented, lying on the floor.
She was about to celebrate her newfound freedom before a massive migraine assaulted her. It took all her willpower not to scream, to avoid waking up Aya. A moment later, she found this worry pointless as she felt a comforting velvety soft cocoon gently hug her. “What’s wrong Nya! Aya hates when Nya is in pain!” A panicked Kitsune screamed telepathically.
It took a couple of minutes for the migraine to die down enough to respond. “Sorry if I scared you. I just had a minor mishap with magic. I should be fine now,” Evernya assured while gritted teeth in pain.
Evernya's explanation seemed to satisfy her mate as the tails retreated. Another minute passed before she dared to open her eyes, but as soon as she did, she immediately regretted it as a combination of painful light and a spinning room assaulted her. She bore with it and after a few seconds, her vision returned to normal.
She attempted to sit up, but the room renewed its spinning with force, causing her to fall to the side against the bed. When the spinning finally stopped, the sight in front of her almost makes her wish it hadn’t. Standing right in front of her with her hands on her hips was an angry elf.
Meira glared down at her incapacitated kitten as she commenced her scolding. “What the hell were you thinking!? You should know better than to try teleportation! What if the magic failed!? Did you even think about the risks!?”
Meira took a deep breath before asking, “How did you even know how to swap yourself in the first place?”
The recipient of the scolding flattened her ears and covered them with her hands from the painfully loud scolding assaulting her already abused brain.
Satisfied her scoldee was in tears, Meira stopped. She materialized multiple jugs of smoothies in front of the downed shifter. Evernya’s pounding migraine seemingly disappeared the second the delicious smelling smoothies appeared in front of her.
Like a wild animal, she pounced on the first jug, downing it in seconds before moving on to the next one. After finishing her fifth two liter jug, her frenzied drinking session ended with her falling sideways onto the floor out cold as her mana got to work repairing the damage to her brain.
