"Is everything alright son?" My father was first to arrive.
"Yes no problems."
"Thorus." My mother was out of breath with moisten eyes. She jumped down and hugged me.
"I was so worried."
I gently pushed her away and wiped the tears away.
"You need to stop these dangerous things. I wouldn't bear it if something happens to you."
"Don't worry, there was no danger from the beginning."
"You say that but how I see things, big things happened. We could feel the mana from the surroundings rush to this place." My father said.
"Father, mother. Your concern warms my heart but I'm alright."
My mother shook her head.
"You hav- EH? What happened to your eyes?" My mother became shocked all of sudden.
"Right, I didn't notice at first. You eye colors don't match. The right eye is blue while the left is red."
They both looked worried. I can't blame them, there were many changes in these seven years.
But to have different eye colors? Man that sounds bad ass. I can't wait to test my new powers.
"Well lets head home, I'm hungry."
My father couldn't help but sigh and shake his head.
"This is not over. You will tell us what happened when we are home." My mother looked at me with serious eyes.
- - -
The next morning I woke up early. I told my mother and father that I just was training and that it was normal to cause such a uproar.
They seemed not so happy and knew I was hiding something, they didn't pry to much however.
Currently I was in my room when someone knocked on my door.
"Come in." I said.
The door opened, Elise, Neo and Neurocarnium came inside my room.
"Ah, good that you guys are here."
"Master" Everyone knelt down and said in unison.
"Woah, I'm surprised. Now that's the proper way to greet me."
They seemed kind of pleased.
"Raise. Don't kneel when my parents are nearby they might scold me."
"Master, we will keep in mind. Anyway, do you have any orders? I was waiting so long to carry out your will. Tell me who should I kill or cripple."
Neo had a wicked grin on his face.
What the hell.
"Yes, Elise will also do her best." She smiled at me. A tooth was missing, I didn't notice at first.
"My life belongs to you Master." Neurocarnium said with an expression I can't quite grasp.
"Aiya, it seems that you guys have changed a lot. I neglected you guys too much."
"No." Elise raised her voice.
"I-I'm sorry I didn't mean to yell. Master, you are too good to us. I don't mind you neglecting me. You can even abuse me."
"What?" I thought I miss heard.
"I live for you. If you want me to end my life, I'll do it."
"Woah, Elise calm down."
What the hell, she broke. How did this happen?

Elise realized what she said and became embarrassed. Her face turned red and she quickly hid behind Neo.
Neo grinned and only shook his head.
"Master, you don't know but Elise missed you very much."
"Neo, shut up."
Neo turned to Elise.
"Ho, can you make me shut up? We don't want your little secret to leak out."
Elise turned pale.
"What secret?" I asked.
Neo laughed.
"You should have seen her. She has a pu-"
"No." Elise screamed and took out a dagger.
She charged at Neo aiming at his neck.
Her movement was quick and efficient as if she practiced for a long time. With my eyes I could see that she channeled mana to her feet to boost her speed.
In a blink of an eye the tip of the dagger was millimeters away from Neo's neck.
Neo snorted. He disappeared in an instant and appeared behind Elise.
Elise noticing that turned around fast. I mean really fast. She aimed at Neo's eyes.
"Humph, naive." Neo snorted. He wanted to catch the dagger between his two fingers.
That never happened though. Before the dagger could be caught it vanished and was heading to the liver.
Neo's eyes widen.
"I got you." Elise sneered.
"Humph. Parlor tricks." Neo raised his knee hitting Elise's elbow. The sound of bones breaking could be heard and the dagger fall to the ground. The right arm of Elise was broken, the fore arm was in a ninety degree angle to the elbow socket.
Elise face distorted in pain but she didn't scream. She looked coldly at Neo.
"What's your problem? How can you expose my secret? I trusted you."
"Hahaha, not bad Elise. You almost got me. Also, I was only joking. I was not intending to tell master."
Neo put up both his arm and shook them while smiling.
"Humph, that better be true." Elise spat on the ground and straightened her arm with a pull. Cracking sound could be hear.
Okay, this was impressive. Damn, Elise you are even cooler than me. Damn it, shame on me.
I clapped my hand.
"This was a good show."
"Eh? Master... I" Elise turned from a killer into a shy girly again.
"Hahaha, good, good. Elise, you developed well. I'm proud of both of you."
"Hehehe, master."
"Is your arm alright Elise?"
Elise smiled with a blush on her face.
"This is nothing for me. I had all my bones broken at least once. I even broke my neck once when Neo insisted on practicing his neck chops on me."
Such a tough girl.
Neo looked a bit of fearful towards me.
"Good job Neo, you raised her well."
Neo's face brightened up and he nodded several times.
"Yes, yes. These two are something." Neurocarnim was also nodding several times in approvement with his hand in front of his chin.
"Well, I was worried about your training. Seems like I was worried for nothing."
"Mistress Verrona was a good teacher. After she taught us magic our battle force was raised several folds."

"Good, good. Now, Elise get your arm fixed. Do you need any medicine?"
"No need, aunty Verrona left some healing potions."
"Good. Anyway. I plan to go into close door training. I will only go out just before we head to school."
All nodded.
"You guys can go" I made a swiping motion with my hand and everyone vanished in an instant.
"Wow, they can even do that. Too good."
- - - - -
I went back to my base and repaired it.
Sitting cross legged inside my base I was thinking.
Till now I was using magic in too crude way. I just imagined it and poured mana into the spell. This time I plan to go deeper. Imagination is not only the key to magic, understanding the laws is also an important key point.
One can create a flame with just imagination and basic understanding but if your understanding of fire is profound you can make the flame hotter.
Since I want to be a demon like existance the dark magic suits me but I have to admit that my understanding is lacking. I planned to learn dark magic from the dark elves but I never got to learn from them.
I will be the laughing stock in school if I can only show a superficial understanding of magic. It's time to to dwell into the mysteries of dark magic.
I closed my eyes and cleared my mind. Darkness, from my understanding it's the void, the nothingness.
Having a blank mind will help me get a deeper understanding of dark magic.
I was trying to not think the whole time. Since I'm a genius it took me only ten minuets.
After an hour I opened my eyes.
"That's it. This is he direction I need to go."
If light is life than death is death. I now life and I know death since I died several times already.
Understanding life is no problem for me since I was alive the most of the time. Yet I'm sure there is more to life than it at first may seem.
Life and death are connected. It's the circle of life. One is born and than one dies someday. Good thing that I read many xian xia novels in my old life. Else I would be clueless where to begin.
To understand life and death is to understand the heavens. To cultivate is to go against the heavens.
"Hahaha, now it's getting ridiculous. Anyway I should start to understand life first or at least grasp the truth."
I went outside my base and went into the forrest. I decided to sit under a tree like Buddha to grasp some truth.
Sitting under the tree I could hear the birds chirping. I could see the sun rays shining through the gaps of the trees.
I was seeing all this yet I was still not feeling it.
After an hour I realized what the problem was. It were my thoughts. What hinders me enjoying the present were my thoughts. How can I see what's real when I have thoughts that distract me from the present moment.
I decided not to think. It can be tricky at first but since I'm a genius I slipped into a state of no mind.
The moment it happened I was blown away. Suddenly everything seemed so intense.
I could feel the ground. I felt my body. The pressure on my ass from sitting on the hard ground. All these things I couldn't notice due to my mind, I could realize them.
The mana in the air, moved towards me. Coating my body, it was as if nature approved me.
"That's it. I have been enlightened. Oh I was so wrong doing evil stuff. I have sinned. It's time to become a monk and live for the people...or not just kidding. But man this life stuff is really deep."
"I need to understand life more."
I saw a small beast a few meters away from me. It was a horned rabbit.
This is also life. I caught the horned rabbit. The rabbit was struggling with fearful eyes.
"It fears, so its alive." Gaining more understanding I noticed a small change in my mana.
I looked at the red and blue sun and the black planet in between. A small light barley noticeable appeared in the orbit of the black planet.
"This I need to understand more. Life what is life?"
I dug a small hole with my hand.
"This is soil. Trees and plants grow on soil. This is also life"
I was slowly grasping something but it always slipped away before I could fully understand it.
"The soil provides food to living beings and sustains life.It gives life. The soil is part of life."
"We need the soil to live."
The light became stronger. It was like a moon.
"Not only the soil gives life. The sun also gives life. Without the sun trees and plants can't grow.Without plants and trees we have no oxygen to breath."
I sat down and relaxed. I only concentrated on my breath and my surroundings.
After a while I opened my eyes and said to myself.
"Life is life. Yet life can't exist without death. Death can't exist without life. It's a circle. If a living being dies it will nourish the ground. New life will sprout from the ground. We kill animals to eat, to live."
Suddenly I felt a strong force in my stomach area. It was warm feeling full of life.
I looked at the black planet inside of be. A white shining moon formed and orbited the black planet.
I could also see a dark dot orbiting around the black planet.
I grinned with a satisfied smile. Who would have guessed that understanding the laws of the universe made such a big change in my body.

Sword System Academia
2/17 NOTICE: I'm putting this on hiatus, possibly permanently. I didn't want to spam with an "update chapter", so hopefully here and in the story blurb will get enough eyeballs. There are a couple reasons for ending SSA for now. 1) I wrote the next chapter but wasn't happy with it. I've been less and less satisfied with SSA's quality the more I thought about it. Part of the reason is... 2) I am seriously thinking about trying to publish some novels to help pay the bills, since I don't have my other source of income anymore. I have never asked for anything from SSA readers, no money, not even a review or rating. SSA is written for fun to amuse myself, primarily, and I would kind of feel bad actually charging someone money for something as unserious as that. I don't think it is good enough to ask anything in return. To use an analogy from music, SSA is more like a jam session with a bunch of friends. You're just chiling and having fun playing some music. I mean, if you are Mozart or even Eminem, your jam session is good enough to sell, but for an amateur beginner like myself, haha, no. If I want to publish something, I feel like I need to go the proper route of practice and rehearsals, which might be more similar to a classical concert performance. With SSA, I work from worldbuilding notes and a loose outline, but what you are essentially getting is the first draft with lots of so-called pantsing. Pushing out a web novel like this also means it is very difficult to go back and improve things without breaking everything else downstream. I wanted to try this "jamming" approach, as it was a good way to teach me about another aspect of writing, but to move forward, I think I need to hone my "classical" techniques, which emphasize rewriting, or at least, revising outlines. 3) While I intend to try to make $$$, my actual current goal is to "get gud". I've spent a lot of time recently trying to understand the self-publishing industry, and I'm pretty sure I can make some money by using short-term strategies with my current amateur skill level. But I've seen too many authors come and go/burnout, and really, the only way that I think I can enjoy writing and still make money on a long-term basis is to become a better writer. And the next step for me, which I haven't done much before, is to spend more time on rewriting and outlines. That is pretty much antithetical to the way SSA is developing. I've always been kind of 20/80 plotting/pantsing, but I want to spend a lot more time outlining before I even start writing. SSA jam sessions don't really fit my goal anymore. If you're curious about what's next, read on... Among other regrets, I regret not finishing SSA. It's the first story I've dropped, but then again, it's the first web novel I've attempted, so I suppose that's not a surprise. I don't think traditional web novel formats suit me that well. The whole SSA story I had loosely planned (beyond a first book or major arc) is way too large as well. Big story = good for neverending webnovel with Patreons, bad for penniless and fickle writer like me. I am currently outlining a complete trilogy to another story in great detail. I want the story to end concisely, and I also want the chance to really spend a lot of time on the full outline to spot pacing problems, character issues, lost themes, and so on. I'll still share this story on RR. What I intend to do is finish book 1, flash-publish the whole thing here for a few weeks, then publish on the big Zon. Repeat for books 2 and 3. The upcoming story will be about crafting heroes. The backdrop is an isekai-like setting, where elves will summon humans to their world as heroes, but the whole hero crafting business is still in its infancy. The elven mage researchers are figuring out how to imbue heroes with power, while the heroes are trying to figure out how to use the powers that they gain. Humans are the best hero templates because they are blank and have no intrinsic magic. Or at least that what the elves thought. The human MC has his own secrets... There will be some similarities with litrpgs, but I would call it more a progression fantasy or gamelit story. For example, the stats are very low, at least initially. Say we have a stat called Str. Going from Str = 1 to Str = 2 is a huge deal. Also, going from Dex = 0 to Dex = 1 is an even bigger deal. I guess you could call it a "low-stat litrpg", haha. Also, the heroes won't be gaining stats simply by killing things or leveling up. You can't increase stats arbitrarily, either. There will be rules to how stats can increase, and how they work with each other. The elven mages will be figuring out these rules in order to craft stronger and stronger heroes. Some inspiration will be from cultivation magic systems, but there won't be overt cultivation, at least for now. A theme I really want to explore is the idea of interactions. That includes things like hero crafter vs hero, tactics vs strategy, skill synergies, racial interactions (dwarves, elves, etc), and son. Yeah, so hero crafting. I'm super excited about this project and venturing into publishing. If you want to check out the upcoming story, you can follow my RR author profile to see when it drops here. Finally... THANK YOU TO EVERYONE! I'm very sorry that SSA is stopping, but I hope at least some of you will find the next story at least as enjoyable, if not more. Thanks to all the readers who gave SSA a shot. Big hug or solid fistbump to all of you, whichever you prefer! I hope this message is not a downer but an upper, because I am psyched!! -purlcray -------------- BLURB: Talen, youngest Master of the Koroi, makes his way to the Empire's capital to salvage his clan's fate. But the bustling city has few opportunities for the traditionalist. For the old sword clans are fading. With the rise of alchemy, gold can purchase strength that ordinarily took years of training to cultivate. Sword artists, once rare and accomplished, are quickly growing in number, especially among the wealthy noble class. Even with such alchemy, though, no one has advanced to the rank of Grandmaster in countless years. Talen's true dream is to walk the path of a sword artist to the very end while fulfilling his clan duties. And then the Swordgeists return, fabled founders of all sword arts, gods who had touched the world long ago and vanished. These myths turned into reality warn of a coming threat. Alongside this warning, they issue an invitation to the Sword System Academy, a path to power beyond the mortal realm. But first, they will hold an entrance exam... Story notes:Sword System Academia blends elements of western and asian fantasy such as xianxia and litrpg. I took parts from different genres I enjoyed and twisted them into my own creation. There will be an explicit system, both of the litrpg kind and the hard(ish) magic kind, but it is embedded within an academic structure that will develop over the course of the story. This is my attempt to design a unique type of system, the System Academia.

No pressure. Rival Dominions vie for power, and they are all far larger and more organized than Jake’s rag-tag group of women, but he has two advantages: the rules of this world are eerily similar to those of Fantasy Tactics Online, and his wildest dirtiest sexual fantasies act as a power multiplier for his all-female army. Warning: The heroes have intense tactical battles, wild kinky sex, and near-constant flirtation. The villains are disturbing and cruel. If the idea of villains doing bad things bothers you, please do not read books ever, but especially don’t read this one.
