Chapter 61 – Aftermath (I)
Aiden had a dream.
In his dream, he was a very powerful man, unrivaled around the world.
Any place he went, many people followed. When he entered a city, the most powerful people inhabiting it came out to receive him. When he spoke, every being fell silent.
His orders were absolute, his words the law. He only needed to ask for something and someone would give it to him.
However, such things were only fleeting to someone like him. Women, honor or wealth. Nothing was able to make him forget the most important thing in his life.
It was his saber.
The man was born with his saber, grow with his saber, and died holding his saber.
During all his life, the saber never left his side during a single second.
An even during his last moments, when he was surrounded by enemies, he never let go of his saber.
Aiden could feel the sadness coming from the saber in his hands, the cries telling him to stop, to run away from his enemies.
But until the end, he remained standing up. Facing his enemies, with a saber in hand, killing in all directions. Until the moment when a ray of lightning penetrated his heart.
And holding the saber in his hands, he died.
…
When Aiden awoke, the first thing he noticed was the girl seated beside his bed.
With a beautiful white hair and snow-white skin, Lia was sleeping deeply. The dark bags around her eyes adding a fragile impression to her beauty.
Aiden could imagine what had happened from Lia’s state. He knew that someone, perhaps Lia, had rescued him that night, and that Lia had been taking care of him from the moment when she awakened.
Knowing it, Aiden was unable to bear waking her up.

The second thing that entered in his sight was the saber besides him.
The black saber was completely the same as the first time he saw it. Lacking any decorations, its simple design was enough for the blade to fulfill its most important mission; to kill.
Touching the sheath with his hand, Aiden caressed the saber carefully, before speaking in a soft tone low enough to not wake up the sleeping Lia.
“Were it your memories, my friend?”
Though the saber was unable to say anything, Aiden seemed felt the weapon humming in affirmation. Smiling slightly, he stroked the hilt with a gentle gaze.
“Don’t worry, I promise you I will become at least so strong like your last owner, and I will treat you with the same care.”
For a moment, Aiden thought that he heard the saber humming in happiness.
But at the end, he was unable to differentiate if it was true or simply a product of his imagination.
Smiling gently, Aiden finally decided to examine the place where he was resting. Looking around, he noticed he was in a beautiful habitation.
The room wasn’t too big, only around forty square meters. But every part of it gave a relaxing impression.
The roof, made of oak wood, had a beautiful clear beige which contrasted with the slightly darker walls. At the same time, the floor was decorated with a carpet made of silk. Aiden didn’t know how expensive such carpet was, but he knew that the current him was unable to afford it even a part of it.
On a wall, a window allowed for the air to enter and circulate around the room, and a beautiful tree could be seen waving its leaves at the rhythm of the wind.
Aiden could not recognize where this place was but seeing that Lia was sleeping besides him and that nobody bothered to take his saber, he deduced that temporarily, he was out of danger.

Letting a sigh of relief, Aiden moved his hand to caress Lia’s hair.
For a moment, silence filled the place. Only the noise of Lia slight snores and the hand of Aiden caressing the hair remained.
However, it did not take long for Lia to wake.
Feeling the hand caressing her head, Lia awakened abruptly and looked towards the person responsible for it.
Seeing the smiling face of Aiden, she was unable to react immediately.
But when she processed the things happening, she jumped quickly towards the bed.
“Young master!”
With an excited voice, Lia hugged the back of Aiden. Putting her head in his chest, she cried while smiling in relief.
“I’m glad *sob*! You are finally awake, young master!”
“I’m sorry for worrying you, Lia. I’m fine.”
With a smile in his face, he spoke towards her.
It took Aiden almost half an hour to finally calm the excited Lia.
When he finally was able to successfully ask where he was, Aiden learned about the things that happened while he was unconscious.
Apparently, the two had been found by the city lord in the place where the fight occurred. And seeing their injuries, the city lord arranged the treatment and allowed them to recuperate
Lia awakened after sleeping for an entire day. Apparently, she was too exhausted due the various fights she lived that night. But immediately after waking up, she ran to Aiden’s room to see his state.
From what the city lord said to her, he had already taken care of everything related with the fight and punished the responsible appropriately. Apparently, they would be unable to search revenge for the time being.
Lia also explained that he had slept during five entire days. If it was not because the doctor said that he was simply unconscious due exhaustion, she would have thought that something happened to him.
Hearing all the things that happened, Aiden could not hide the expression of surprise in his face. Looking towards Lia, he asked in doubt.
“Why is the city lord so interested in helping us? I don’t remember meeting him before…”
“Ufufu, you will be surprised when you met him young master. He is someone that we know.
“Someone that we know?”
“Yes. I was also very surprised when I learned of his identity.”
“You are making me curious, Lia.” With a pondering expression, Aiden began to search among his acquittances for someone with the features of a city lord. But at the end, he was unable to find someone.
“If you are curious, you can come with me to see him. He left said to search him when you were awake.”
“Is it so? Very well. But before, can you get me something to eat. I’m truly hungry…”
“Ah! How can I forget about it!? Don’t worry young master, I will bring something very delicious for you to eat!”
Seeing Lia running out from the room to search food for him, Aiden could not help but laugh happily.
He definitively liked this Lia more than the other.
