Chapter 70 – Growing Chaos, Bloody Future (End of Book 1)
In a luxurious mansion inside the town of Cali, a middle-aged man was standing before a window, looking the outside scenery and contemplating the events of the last few days.
Behind him, a dark-skinned youth was kneeling on the ground, with his head lowered. Even though the middle-aged man hadn’t spoke from the moment when he entered, the youth didn’t dare to speak.
The silence lasted for almost five minutes, and the middle-aged man continued looking to the outside. Apparently, he wasn’t interested in speaking with the youth.
However, when the youth thought that he would have to remain kneeling for a long time, the man finally spoke.
“We lost three shadows and a talented disciple that night, Ray. Is there something you want say?”
“Elder I–”
“Silence!” Ordered the man. “You have not right to make excuses!”
Though the dark-skinned youth, Ray Crow, was angry to the middle-aged man words, he didn’t dare to answer.
After all, he knew that this time he was in the wrong.
Looking the expression in Ray’s face, Rouss Crow seemed know what he was thinking. Precisely because it, he was disappointed by the boy behavior.
“We are members of the Crow family, Ray. Our actions are directly related with our family’s honor.”
Turning around and looking to the kneeling youth, Elder Rouss extended his hands and spoke. “When I learned about your orders to capture a girl, I disagreed. But you promised me that everything would be fine.
“Look now, we lost four of our men to a pair of kids, and the city lord warned about taking revenge. The city lord found an excuse to pressure us and the spectating clans are laughing from our misfortune.”
“But you know what is the most laughable of this situation?” Continued the middle-aged man. “The reason because this happened was because you took a liking to a girl!”

“Is it not enough with the girls you had destroyed in our territory!?” Shouted Elder Rouss. Rage evident in his face.
Ray could only grit his teeth, unable to answer.
Seeing it, Rouss Crow simply shook his head.
“Get out. You are not allowed to leave the mansion before the mission begins. I informed the clan about it, and they decided to send your elder sister to be in charge of the mission from now onwards. When she comes, you have to obey her orders.”
Hearing it, an astonished expression appeared in Ray’s face. But before he could refute, the Elder interrupted him.
“You cannot object. The decision had been done.”
Hearing it, an enraged expression appeared on Ray’s face. Then, punching angrily the ground, he left the study.
In his mind, he was cursing the ones responsible for it to die a horrible dead.
When the youth left, Elder Rouss simply shook his head, then, with a sigh, he spoke to himself.
“How is it possible for you to surpass your sister if you are unable to do something so simple like collecting information without causing troubles?”
…
From the east entrance of the border town of Cali, a pair of hooded men entered silently.
With the amount of people coming to the town recently, the two men didn’t attracted attention. After all, even odder people had appeared in the last few days.
Walking around the town, the two hooded men located an inn and reserved a room. Then, closing the door of their room, they confirmed that it was impossible for someone to eavesdrop their talk.
“Had it been confirmed?”
“Yes.” Said one of the two men. “The appearance described coincides perfectly with the information inside our database.”
“Is it so? We must hurry then. The sooner we capture her, the best it is.”

“Don’t worry. I already sent someone to investigate her current location.”
Hiding the craziness inside their eyes with their hoods, the two men smiled excitedly and spoke in an upbeat tone.
“Finally, we can realize our revenge.”
“Yes, with her, it will be possible to avenge all our fallen companions.”
“Our greatest creation.”
““ALEGRIA””
…
Inside the lost forest, a beautiful girl around twelve years old was seated on a tree branch.
With a mostly lustrous violet hair, the girl was swinging her legs cheerfully like an innocent kid. Her greenish blue eyes twinkled in curiosity and her happy smiled was the finishing touch in her fairy-like appearance.
Looking to the ground, the girl pouted briefly and crossed her arms. Then, with a scolding tone resembling a displeased kid, the girl spoke.
“Hmph! Another ugly man trying to hurt me! Do they think I’m so easy to bully?”
Jumping from the branch, the girl looked once more to the sight below the tree. Then, with a movement from her back, she flew away using the pair of transparent wings which suddenly appeared in her back.
On the ground, the burned body of a man was lying while wearing a frightened expression.
…
A blue haired woman was bathing in a lake located inside the lost forest.
The scenery around the lake was very beautiful; filled with trees and flowers blooming in all their splendor. It could be considered a dreamlike place.
However, a very frightening thing was occurring currently.
Around the woman, an ice-cold mist was spreading without stop, freezing the lake’s water, the forest’s plants and killing all the living creatures in the surroundings.
The woman however, ignored the strange oddity occurring around her. Instead, she simply continued cleaning her body, washing the blood on her skin using the freezing water around her.
In her back, a frightening wound, which would have killed any ordinary human, was festering.
And around the wound, a terrifying purple was spreading.
The fact that the woman was alive despite the terrifying wound and poison in her body, could be considered a miracle.
…
In an airship going to the border city of Cali, a young woman was standing while looking to the scenery in the surroundings.
Her beautiful short hair, a mix between gold and black, was the main proof of her lineage. And her eyes, tinted with a beautiful golden, were as expressionless as her face.
The reason because she was coming to the town, was to fulfill the orders from the family head, and search for the supreme emptiness flame.
She could not imagine that the boy she was searching for so long, had just left the place where she was going.
Neither could she know how much he suffered during the years he spent away from home.
While thinking about her sweetheart, who left the clan behind after suffering a tragic fate, the girl could not help but sigh.
Her name, was Sia Noah…

Charles has few allies and even fewer strengths to rely on. Only his skills in the culinary arts, honed over a lifetime in the kitchen, are deemed useful enough to keep him alive another day. But he’s not out of hope just yet. With a dash of wit, a pinch of luck, and some very creative cooking, he might just find a way to recover his family’s legacy and take back his freedom. This project is a food-themed fantasy that centers on cooking and chefs. The setting spans a wide world featuring ingredients/recipes both real and inspired by traditional fantasy. I'll eventually be publishing it as a full-length novel (or series of novels depending on length). These are the first draft chapters. I'll likely be re-writing more than once, then editing before publishing, so impressions and feedback are quite welcome. If you like the story so far and you're interested in being an early reviewer for the final product, feel free to message me. I'm looking for an artist to make some concept art and a cover (the cover shown here is just a temporary placeholder). A stand-alone novel for now, but it may turn into a series down the road.
