《The Colour Chronicles》Chapter 17 - Magic

"We're fine." 'Julie' responds coldly.
"You both seem to be quite cold." 'Blue' remarks.
"I'm not cold at all, I'm actually sweating!" The boy answers.
'Blue' frowns upon hearing that. "Why don't you two come with me? I'll get you some food and warm clothes." She offers.
"We're fine. Do you really think I'd fall for that? Will you kidnap us and sell us to some black market after?" 'Julie' snarls.
"It's fine if you don't trust me. How about a blanket? Or some food? I can bring it here." 'Blue' continue her offers.
"We don't need blankets. Will you carry our bodies in there after you poison us with food?" 'Julie' rolls her eyes.
'Blue' raises her eyebrow. "You have quite the imagination. Did anyone ever poison you before?"
"That's none of your business. Leave us alone." 'Julie' turns away from 'Blue'.
Blue responds with a painful smile. She shakes her head and leaves.
The dream fast forwards.
"August, come on! Answer me!" 'Julie' shakes the boy.
He isn't responding to anything. His body feels ice cold.
"He's dead." The same female voice from before declares.
"That's none of your business! " 'Julie' shouts through her tears. She didn't notice she was crying until trying to shout.
"I can revive him." 'Blue' offers.
"Just go die already, you monster!" 'Julie' hits 'Blue' with a fist.
'Blue' sighs and leaves.
The dream fast forwards. This time 'Julie' is walking to some place. 'She's a lot taller now?' Blue notices that her field of view is a lot higher than it used to be.
'Julie' keeps marching forward. It looks aimlessly.
'Julie' bumps into somebody. She looks up and sees 'Blue' again. "Please, please. Revive my brother, like you said before!" 'Julie' shouts.
"It's too late for that." 'Blue' says.
"Then… Then… Just… Kill me." 'Julie' cries.
Blue opens her eyes again. It's still dark, but this time Julie is awake. "Are you alright?" Blue asks.
"I'm fine, just a bad dream." Julie smiles. Blue can easily see its fake.
"My sister said we call that a nightmare. Dreams are great, and shouldn't be put on the same level as a nightmare." Blue recalls.
"That's true. I had a nightmare then." Julie sofly laughs.

"If you ever have a nightmare again, call me and I'll get rid of it!" Blue repeats the promise Lilianne made.
"I'll remember that." Julie smiles at Blue. This time it doesn't seem to be fake. "Now go back to sleep, we need all the energy we can have."
Blue nods and lies down. 'Did Julie dream about her past because of the snow? Would I be able to affect what they dream with that? Let's try on April.'
Blue closes her eyes again. She opens them and sees the sky. The sun shines brightly and there's clouds in the shapes of animals. 'Is she dreaming about cloud gazing?' Blue wonders. 'So I got reminded of my memories back when Lilianne checked them. What if I quickly go in and out to see if that gets her to remember?'
Blue thinks about getting April's memories. She arrives in a room full of flying videos. She quickly taps one of them and leaves.
She heads back to the dream and sees the dream changing. The background changes to an alley. April is standing behind a corner, peeking into the alley. Her visions is a lot lower than the one Julie had in her dreams.
Two people stand in the alley talking. "So, the final game is going to start." One of the voices says.
"It was about time, let's get this over with." The other person says.
Something appears in the alley, like the air is getting ripped apart. Slowly a landscape is visible in the air. "Let's go." One of them says. The person jumps into the landscape and disappears. The other follows in and the alley is silent again. The landscape slowly disappears.
Before it can fully disappear 'April' sprints towards it and jumps in. The vision fades and the scenery changes.
This time Blue finds herself sitting at a desk. The desk is full of papers, she doesn't recognize the language used on it.
‘April’ lies on the desk, not interested in working.
"I'm sorry, the babysitter canceled last moment…" A heavy voice says
'April' looks at the source and a man in a weird suit stands in the door opening. Behind him a little kid hides. The kid has blonde hair and brown eyes.
"If you don't mind, I can watch him while you work. I got a bit of free time anyway." A voice says. 'April switched over to the voice and there sits 'Blue' yet again. In the same outfit as with Julie. 'How can I be everywhere?' Blue wonders.

"You wouldn't mind babysitting? That would be great, I was worried on how to keep him busy. They won't allow him at the meeting…" The man says.
"Haha it's fine, I'll take care of him." 'Blue' laughs.
‘April’ spins a pen with her fingers while looking at the event going on.
"Thanks a lot. Ben, come out. Meet this nice lady over here. Stay near her for now, okay?"
"Okay dad." The boy walks over to 'Blue' and the man hurries to his meeting.
"Miss, do you believe in magic?" The boy asks.
'April' lazily lies her head on her desk. "I should be doing work instead, let's just see her explain magic for now." 'April' quietly mutters to herself.
"And why do you ask that?" 'Blue' smiles.
"My dad doesn't believe in magic, he says it's stupid. But magic has to be real right?" The boy explains.
"Well you know, magic does exist. But it hides from you, maybe even your whole life. Only some people are exposed to magic, and your dad isn't one of them."
"So how do you know that?" The boy curiously asks.
"Can you keep a secret?" 'Blue' asks.
"Pinky swear!" The boy holds out his pinky. 'Blue' shakes her pinky with his to confirm the deal.
She lifts her index finger in the air and lets a little flame appear.
'April' almost falls out of her chair after seeing it. She quickly looks around to see if anyone else notices, but everyone stares at their work. "Wow." 'April' stammers.
The boy watches in amazement. "How did you do that?" He tries to reach out for it but 'Blue' moves her finger away.
"Don't touch it, it's dangerous. It will hurt your hand. It's magic, that's how I did that." ‘Blue’ happily says.
"Ooh, show me more!" The boy excitedly requests.
The flame disappears. Instead 'Blue' reaches for the boy's ear. "Look what I found here." She shows him a coin from behind his ear.
"How did you do that? Can I get a chocolate coin?" The boy asks.
"Sure." 'Blue’ shows her open and empty hand. Then she closes it and tosses a chocolate coin his way. He clumsily catches it. "Wow, magic is great!" The boy smiles.
‘Blue’ nods. "Yep, it is."
‘April’ stands up, heading towards ‘Blue’. Before that happens the scenery changes.
This time she's in a dining hall. It looks majestic, with a chandelier providing light. Chairs all have a cushion and the table has wood carvings in it.
"So, you really are a king." 'April' says.
"I told you that before." A man with short blond hair responds, he has a silver suit on and a red cape. 'That's the same guy as in her first dream!' Blue recognizes him.
"It's not every day you see someone call himself a king." 'April' shrugs.
"It's not every day a kid falls from the sky." The king smiles.
"Wasn't my fault." 'April' crosses her arms.
"Be happy we got a witch here who caught you. You wouldn't survive a fall like that." The king laughs.
"Are you laughing about me almost dying?" 'April' accuses him.
"Nah, your attitude about it is laugh worthy." The king points out.
Someone opens the door. "Your Majesty, we tried everything, but she hasn't been talking yet."
"Update me when she does." The king waves away the servant.
"Someone isn't talking?" 'April' tilts her head.
"We found someone else before you. I think she might not understand the language." The king explains.
"Can I meet her?" 'April' asks.
"Hmm? If you want to." The king answers.
The scenery changes.
Blue finds herself back at the office.
"Everyone, I would like your attention please." A voice shouts. 'April' turns to the owner of the voice, a small woman with brown hair in a knot. She also wears a weird suit, but with a skirt.
"Okay, thank you. I'm pleased to announce that we're getting a new co worker!" The woman announced. "Come in!" She waves someone in.
Everyone stares at the door. A woman with long, black hair in a twin tail walks in and waves. "Hey there, I'm Blue."
