I was sitting in my class with Roy, that was trying to talk with me from time to time, but I didn’t care. I was thinking about many things, and his jokes weren’t one of them.

Math… I hated math. I was never good at it, and I never intended to study anything near it, and yet it seems so easy now. It is the basis of every scientific subject, and something important for every mage.

You can calculate everything, for example time that passed since an event. Let’s say that two weeks ago, a girl has attacked you with a stone, and after that refused to talk with you. Everyone would feel weirded out…

Let’s say that a girl was staring at you all the time, as if she knew something about you, but now she avoids your eyes like fire. What would a normal person think? Does she like me? Does she hate? Why did she threw a stone?

Math is easy… Easier than humans, and their stones.

I looked around at the class. It looked like something from my old highschool, but without a projector, and students sleeping or using their smartphones. As for where I was sitting, of course it was the left back corner of the class. Place beloved by every anime main character, and I think for a good reason.

Sitting here, I could look out the window whenever I wanted, and I wasn’t attracting too much attention from the other students. Well, except one noble, now sitting before me.

“Hey, why don’t we talk? It’s not like we will use math in our daily life anyway.” Roy turned around, and said while smiling.

It’s not like we will use it anyway… I heard it probably hundreds of times. There is always this one student, that is always saying those words in every class. It doesn’t matter if it’s math, physics, or biology. What matters is that “we won’t use it anyway”.

“It might shock you, but I want to learn new things, so if you want to talk find someone else.” I responded quietly, and Roy looked at me with sad eyes.

“Oh, don’t be like that. It’s not like you need to…”

“Hey! You sitting there!” Roy’s voice was interrupted by the teacher, that was now looking at him with angry eyes “Yeah, you with the red hair. What do you think my classes are? A place for you to gossip?”

“N-No! I’m sorry!” a quick response, that made some of the students laugh a little. A one girl was smiling especially bright.

Lily… She was a beautiful girl, with big, blue eyes, and curly, blonde hair reaching to her shoulders. Her face looked kind, almost as if she never got angry. Always looking at people with understanding eyes, a little smile, and small blush. Even if she wasn’t born to a really powerful family, she was still loved by boys.

Of course, it was hard to call their feelings “love”, because they liked her mainly because of her looks. Her face was nice, and cute, but the thing that attracted the most of the attention was her chest, and how big it was. She also had a nice posture, that highlighted her body.

A big, cheerful smile…

“Just stay quiet, if you want to stay in this class.” the teacher responded to the Roy, and turned around to face the blackboard.

The girl, that was sitting to the right from the Roy, was still smiling, while looking at him.

Wait… What does it mean when a girl smiles at you? I have a good reason to ask this question. There was this one student with a rock, that doesn’t want to speak with me now.

“Roy, I think that someone is looking at you.” I said quietly, and he turned around to look at me with angry eyes, as if I betrayed him “This is not the time to be offended. Look to your right.”

After a moment, he finally did what I asked him to do, and then he met the gaze of a really beautiful girl. Needless to say, he got really red, but there was someone that was even redder right now.

Lily had a big blush on her cheeks, and she quickly looked away from him, while making a very weird face.

Avoids his eyes… Doesn’t want to look at him… Embarrassed…

Is this the reason Emily finally left me alone? Is she embarrassed? Is it because of the rock? Or does she want to blackmail me? I’m sure that I casted a spell in her presence. Well, nothing happened in those two weeks, so maybe she’s waiting for something?

It’s easier, when there is a cause, and a result. It’s easy, because I just need a little deduction to know what exactly is happening around me. But now? There is no cause, or rather there are too many of them. She can have hundreds of reasons for wanting to avoid me, from the most stupid ones, to the ones that can really make my life harder.

“Oh… Oh, man, did you see that?” Roy finally started speaking, when he turned around to me, but this time he was quieter, so the teacher didn’t get angry at us.

“Did I see what?” I asked, and he looked at me like at an idiot.

“Lily… Did you see her blushing? You think that she likes me?” he whispered, to make sure that she didn’t hear him.

Well, she got pretty red right there, and she was smiling like an idiot before. But does she like him? I’m not good at things like that. Someone being red can have many causes, from high temperature, to stress… She might as well be stressed, because you looked at her without warning. Or maybe she is afraid of men.

So many causes, and not much information.

“I don’t know, better look at the blackboard.” I responded, and Roy bent a little closer to me.

“Hey, man… Don’t be like that. Tell me… Tell me please, what do you think?”

“Why do you think my opinion matters right now?”

“Please… Just tell me what you think…” Roy said, while looking at me with calling for help in his eyes.

Emotions. If we are talking about them, I am as smart as the next person. Of course, there are some signs that can tell you, that someone likes you. Higher pulse, blushing, sweating, nervousness, unlogical excitement…

And yet, you can never be sure, how the brain of the other person works. Equation always works the same, a number always has the same value, but the brain changes all the time.

Higher pulse can be caused by stress.

Blushing, can be caused by sickness.

Brain isn’t always logical.

“I don’t know. There is a really high possibility, but I can’t be sure…” I responded, and Roy looked at me with happiness.

“Really?”

“Yeah. Logically, there is a high possibility, but if you ask me as a person…” I started talking, and he the happiness in his eyes disappeared “Why would she like you?” I said those words, and he hit me lightly in my head.

“Hey! Why would you say…”

“Hey! The red one! You really want to be thrown out, don’t you?!” the teacher once again interrupted Roy, but this time he looked really angry.

Well, the situation was similar to the one before. Some of the students were laughing, and Roy once again started apologising for his behaviour, but the girl wasn’t looking at him now. She was looking away, as if she didn’t want to repeat the situation from before.

“Listen to me… I am a good person, so I will let you stay. But do something like that once again, and I will throw you out. Do you understand?!”

“Yes sir!”

Ninety percent? Maybe more?

Well, but Roy really is one of a kind. Shouting in a class, and risking his precious time in the school, because of a small insult. It’s not like I was lying to him back then. I really can’t understand why she would like him.

Of course, for me he is a great man, that treats a commoner like me with respect, and even like a friend. But for her? I don’t think that she fell in love with his kind heart.

“You… Don’t say things like that…” as if he couldn’t learn from his mistakes, Roy once again started whispering to me.

“What do you want now?”

“Just be serious… You think she likes me?”

“Well, there is a high possibility, that she does. I would say ninety percent, but remember that I can be wrong, and she can also be sick right now, and stressed because of her phobia of men…”

“Eh, you can’t even take this seriously, can you?” Roy said, while making a sad face, but the one thing he didn’t know, was that I was serious “Just forget it. She probably just thinks that I am a clown, or something.”

“Well, there is a possibility of that, up to ninety nine perc…”

“Shut up.”

Well, maybe I was making fun of him, but I can’t really make a decision like that for someone else. Does she like him, or does she not? She probably does, but what does he want from me? Does he want me to ensure him, that if he asks her out, she will say yes? I can’t do that.

Even if she likes him, she might still have reasons to reject him. The more important questions is, does he likes her, not if she does like him. Does he likes her so much, that he don’t care if she can reject his feelings…

“Just think about it for yourself, and find your own conclusion. I shouldn’t be the one, telling you what to do, or what she feels.” I said quietly, thinking that it will probably anger him, but Roy only nodded with serious face.

“Yeah, you are right.” he smiled after saying that, and added “You just pretend to be stupid from time to time, don’t you? You little…”

“Hey! You once again?! I told you to behave yourself!” the teacher noticed Roy talking to me, and looked at him with angry expression “You really don’t change… Leave the class! Now! And think about your behaviour!”

“B-But teacher…”

“Didn’t you hear me? Think about what you have done, and don’t return until you know how to behave yourself!”

Am I the lucky one here? I talked with him for all this time, but he is the only one taking the blame. Well, the other reason for that might be that Roy was just talking louder than me, but it’s better to think that you were born a lucky person. It’s better to think that you are special.

I looked at him, as he was packing his books into the bag. After that he started slowly leaving the classroom, and when approached the door he looked at me, and waved his hand with a smile.

“Why… What are you doing here! Didn’t I tell you to leave…” the teacher started shouting at him, but Roy only left the class, while not listening to his words “I can’t believe him, who would think that children are so badly behaved these days…”

Well, it didn’t make me happy that he waved at me, because he drew the attention of other people to me.

As for the girl, she was now looking at the door with a concerned look. Are you that worried about him?

I didn’t really care about it, as I sat in my chair, and looked at the blackboard. Having Roy out of they way had its advantages, and of them was that I could learn in peace now. It’s not like I really needed to make an effort to understand the things that were written by the teacher, but I still prefer the peace of being left alone.

I looked at the blackboard, and started reading the equations that the teacher wrote. As I learned, the time was slowly passing, and before I knew it, the lesson was already ending. I don’t know if it’s because I now enjoy the things, that I wouldn’t enjoy at all in the old world, or because there wasn’t much time to begin with, but the lesson passed really fast.

As for the Roy, he didn’t return after leaving, so he probably doesn’t really care about the subject. Well, if I was in his place, I would beg to stay in the classroom, but I wouldn’t be in his place to begin with.

I slowly started packing books to my bag, thinking about returning to the dormitory. This was the last class for today, and I felt tired from whole day spent in here.

“Um… I’m sorry…” I heard a voice of a young girl, that was now standing next to me.

“Something happened?” I asked, while putting the last book into my bag.

“N-No… I mean, yeah… I mean, Roy… You know him, don’t you?”

I looked at the girl that was talking to me, and she was a real beauty. Her cute face, blonde hair, and small lips were really appealing. This girl was now blushing, while looking at me.

“Yeah, he is a friend of mine. Something about him?” I asked, but I already knew the answer.

“To tell you the truth, I like him.” Lily responded, and smiled a little.

Well, what should I do now?
