《The Apocalypse Show - Dungeon Core》Chapter 17

“Anyway I want you to study all the plants and animals in the dungeon. Maybe run a few experiments.” I told the professor.
“You want me to study plants and animals, that’s all?” She said in a surprised voice.
“Why, what did you think I wanted you to do?” I said in a teasing voice.
She looked around nervously. “I thought you were going to torture and kill me. Maybe as part of some sacrifice or something.”
“Why would I hurt or kill such a beautiful woman?” I said teasing her again.
She smiled nervously. “Promise you and your monsters aren’t going to rape me?” She said in a voice that had relaxed a bit.
I hesitated a moment too long before replying. “Wait, is that actually what you are planning?” She said in a panicking voice.
I decided to be truthful. “I promise the monsters won’t hurt you. As for myself I still haven’t decided.”
Her face was filled with fear for a moment but then it was replaced by confusion. “Wait, are you messing with me? How would that even work? I thought you said that you’re the dungeon?” She said in a voice that sounded more like she was convinced that I was teasing her.
“I have the ability to take over the mind of one of my monsters. Basically give myself a body.” I admitted.
The professor’s eyes widened and a trace of fear crossed her face again. This whole situation was getting awkward. “I’m not planning on raping you. But don’t be surprised if I try to seduce you.”
With that said I decided it was the perfect time to distract the professor. I dropped the rest of the professor’s equipment next to her. “Look, I got you a gift.” I said happily.
“How did you do that? All of it appeared out of thin air.” The professor said happily as she started digging through and checking all of her equipment. I couldn’t answer since she was no longer touching my crystal.

“So where do you want me to start?” She asked.
After a minute she realized that she had forgotten to touch my crystal and I couldn’t answer her. “Tomorrow I’ll give you a proper tour. I’m sure you have noticed there are a few traps in the dungeon. For now this room and any room deeper in the dungeon should be safe. If you need anything just say so and I’ll hear you but for now if you want to talk you will have to touch my crystal.”
Professor Hanson excitedly turned back to her equipment. It looked like I had been successful in distracting her. There was one thing that confused me though, most of her equipment looked old. There wasn’t any modern equipment.
The most technologically advanced piece of equipment was a microscope that looked like it was at least a few decades old. I wasn’t sure where she had found it. Even the high school labs probably had better equipment now.
I really wanted to ask her about why some technology worked and other technology didn’t. For instance obviously the microscope and guns worked. Yet the couple of flashlights I had found didn’t work any longer. From what the sheriff had said earlier he sent deputies on horseback to the closest city. That meant that vehicles weren’t working. Unfortunately those questions would have to wait until later.
Meanwhile I had other things I wanted to work on. My goblins were working on three different rooms. The first of these was an expansion off one of the dead ends coming from the second room of the dungeon. I intended to turn this into a branch of the dungeon just for the goblins.
The second room they were working on was a small room off the sixth room of my dungeon. I intended to turn it into a set of rooms for my avatar and for the professor. Although for tonight I only needed the one room for the professor.
The final room the goblins were working on was simply intended to push the dungeon deeper. I wasn’t sure what I’d use it for yet but in many ways it was the most important room. Depth was its own defense.

A couple hours later the goblin that had been killed by the bear finally respawned. Unfortunately with so many goblins digging most of my mana was going towards finishing up the rooms. I also occasionally spawned interesting plants near the professor or had the goblins bring her them. Same thing with any of the simple animals I could create. I couldn’t tell the difference but apparently all of them were slightly different from normal animals and plants on earth.
What little mana I had left I used to recharge my bullet deflecting amulet. And any time I had was used studying the blood magic grimoire. As the day progressed it seemed like I got better at splitting my attention and multitasking.
Before night had fallen my goblins had made a ton of progress. In total my dungeon was two rooms deeper and two goblin rooms had been completed in addition to one bedroom. I checked my notifications right after the bedroom was completed.

Congratulations on receiving a million positive ratings. 7 points awarded.
The points were appreciated since it put me at twenty one points. I put my two attribute points into wisdom once again. As for the talent I finally decided to pick up the monster evolution chance increase. Hopefully along with the professor’s help it would let me discover some new monster types.
Speaking of the professor I focused on her and noticed her yawning. I had a bit more work to do first though. An hour later I sent the shaman to her. “Master say you follow me.” He said and waited for the professor to finish what she was working on and pack up a few things. She hesitated for a moment and looked at the rest of her equipment. “You leave here. Master make sure no goblin or animal touch.” The shaman said.
“Okay I guess. Where are we going?” Her voice was a tiny bit tense. “You see soon.” The goblin simply said. A minute later they had arrived at the sixth room of the dungeon. The professor hesitated a moment and looked at my core which was in the center of the room. After talking to her earlier I had moved my core into this room.
The shaman hadn’t stopped moving though so she pulled herself away and hurried to follow. They finally arrived at a door that led to the small room. “You stay here tonight. Work more tomorrow.” The goblin said and pointed to the door.
“Ummm okay.” Nervously the professor opened the door and walked into the room. I had the shaman follow her inside to show her around. I had spent quite a few points and mana getting the room ready. I had made the bed frame and desk out of stone in order to save points. Still a stone chair wasn’t feasible due to the weight. So five points had gone into buying a chair, mattress, pillow, and a set of sheets.
Most of my remaining points I’d spent on the attached bathroom. I had to spend ten points to get a book on water magic. Plumbing wouldn’t work without flowing water. Luckily I could shape stone into pipes, a sink, and a bathtub.
Oddly the toilet was porcelain. It had been cheaper to buy the whole thing from the shop instead of buying the various parts and making the rest out of stone. I also had to buy a few valves for the plumbing, faucets, a showerhead, and a mirror. By the time I was done I was out of points.
“Master say no hot water yet. He fix tomorrow morning. You want bath tonight? Goblin bring hot water if do.” The shaman asked.
I was disappointed when she shook her head. “No, I can wait until tomorrow. This is all very impressive though.”

THIS FICTION HAS BEEN DISCONTINUED. I don't recommend reading this, since the chapters are a bit haphazard (containing new edits which don't really fit in with the latter half of the story).
